  1. Yeh that's what I initially thought, but from comparing the specs, they are identical, except for the fact that the 735ial is equipped with more leg room, rear electric seats and side electric blinds (which are just due to it being a long wheel base, rather than a 735).
  2. Hmm I always thought that an E65 730 would be (relatively) good on fuel! I guess that's something else to take into account!
  3. Hiya, I'm looking around for a new 7 series to replace my 525i and am consider either a 735ial with mileage around 100k and a 730i with mileage around the 80k mark. Both are 2003 models. I haven't driven a 730i before so I don't really know how powerful it is, I was hoping someone here can give me some feedback on this, I know the 730i has a 6 cylinder engine whereas the 735ial is a V8. I saw on wikipedia that the 0-100 km/h of the 730i is around 8.1 seconds whereas the 735ial does it in 7.5 - is there a cost effective way to reduce the 730i's 0 -100 time? Also... I haven't contacted my insurance company about this, but that's something else to consider. I don't know how bitchy they'll be about insuring a 20 year old for a 735ial with a v8 engine. Do you guys reckon there would be a huge difference between a 735ial and a 730i in terms of insurance (assuming their price doesn't substantially differ). Thanks for any help
  4. I'm pretty sure I've only counted 6 in my 2002 525i O.o
  5. $220000 over 16 years aint that bad. Depreciation tends to level off over time, it's only the first few years that are the worst, $220 000 over 16 years works out to be $13750 per year (disregarding the $2k that its worth atm).... compare this to the dude who lost $30k in the first two years!
  6. A few weeks back, I was looking at upgrading my 525i to a 2002 530i, I found one for $16k and the guy negotiated down to $14.5k which is almost half the price these are worth, the car was also in perfect condition, all service history etc... only difference was that they weren't msport models, so I fail to see why the mspsortness jacks up the price $10k+, I mean for the price they're going for you can get something like a 735i, or even a 2003 745i (there's one on trademe atm going for $29.5k which will negotiate down to $26.5k quite easy).
  7. This... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-176545075.htm ... he'll negotiate down to $25k within time
  8. I'm sure that thing he's selling drives like a dream, being minimally serviced and corners cut in every possible way to conserve on cash... Moral of the story... never buy a car of this caliber
  9. Welll... I was looking on trademe and I came across this thing... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-182229914.htm (reason I called it a kiddie car is because I find it difficult to believe a sensible adult would do this to their car lol)... but anyway.... there's a top bid of $9k, whereas this auction, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-180046318.htm is selling a facelifted 520i for $11k!! (which horrifies me because this basically means they are worthless ) so is the dude who bid on the first auction completely out of his mind or what - $2k difference for extra features, upgrade electrics, less mileage and 5 years newer O.O?
  10. Well... in that case, if anyone has a $1res F430... feel free to advertise it
  11. I bought a car from the same guy, owned my 525i for about 5-6 months now, have not had a single problem with it, on the other hand - I purchased my previous Mercedes from Turners which turned out to be an absolute nightmare (and I DID get it checked before I bought it) So it just goes to show that not every single car from Singapore is bad! All of these cars by Jerry Clayton have extensive service history and he seems to hand pick them himself, from the BMW I got, and the Lexus I checked out the other day - his cars are really, really good!
  12. I donno... but when I first read this message it looked like it said "I will f**k the land YEH!" O_O I need help....
  13. LOL I was just going to post a trademe discussion topic with that exact listing... I wonder if he comes with the car. If anyone's interested... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-178843647.htm
  14. I think the whole 'there are heaps of people on the dole so if we get rid of it' position is oh so implausible. In reality, and I know this from personal experience, because I regularly deal with people that need some form of social support - there are actually not as many people as you think on the dole just for the hell of it - most people are actually quite keen to work (if they can). The dole is there to create some form of social equity, without social equity we are all f**ked. The difference between the rich and the poor is what governs overall health of the country, the bigger the gap, the worse the health (regardless of overall wealth). The employment you get handed to you when you're on the dole is utter sh*t (like NZ airport) whereby you can't even determine how many hours each shift will end up being. This idea of a 'victim blame model' i.e. the majority on the dole are non-contributing idiots who are a drain on the economy is really non-conducive. It's quite easy to go ahead and say oh they are the problem because they're just lazy... But that's a pathetic approach, look at problems on a grass roots level and see why such problems are created. The dole pays out around $16.4k annually... feasible? I think not - reality is politicians lie - they will tell you what ever you want to hear to get elected, it's how the world works. I saw a big ACT sign in Glen Innes on the way to uni that said 'Zero tolerance for crime' a common tactic for politicians - If you buy into this crap, I suggest you go and read some criminology studies (as pointed out by my law lecturer) - crime is actually going down, rather than up - this is as a result of evidence, not some BS ACT is trying to cook up to get your vote. Regarding people with BMWs charging quotes to WINZ ~ What's wrong with that? Obviously if it's a brandnew M6, then something's wrong somewhere, but if it's an E30, E36, E39, E46 etc then what's wrong with it? People are stupid, they often buy sh*t they can't afford and get huge loans to pay for it, that's hardly a sign of corruption. How many people around NZ on $30k salaries have cars worth more than their annual salary on loan? Look on trademe... Moral of the story ~ don't let your personal bias affect your judgment, always always always look at reports and read (neutral) literature to get a better idea of a situation.
  15. As I was browsing through here I noticed that the cheapest ticket is for $8.50 .... now if you buy this ticket 52 weeks a year (assuming you get it every week) that would be $416 p/year... now over a period of 5 years... thats $2080!! If you're buying a ticket for around $11 (every week)... $572 per year, $2860 every 5 years! If you're a lotto junkie and you've been buying $11 tickets since you were 23 up until you are 77 (every week) ... this would effectively mean you have spent over $30k on lotto tickets (not to mention how much 'potential interest you have lost from not having that $30k in the bank)! Moral of the story.... As with gambling, you get nothing for something! (bar the handful of 'ZOMG I'm so Lucky!!1!' people)
  16. No tax on it as far as I know - 24 mil will be all yours (provided you win)
  17. It says so, but the seller is located in australlia (for the trademe one), similarly, the ebay guy is offering a 3 year warranty with this phone, but I sent him a question about using the warranty overseas because I'm not sure whether it would be applicable in NZ.
  18. I think network wise it should be good, formatted my HTC TyTN many times, no probs, automatically picks up vodafone settings. I have no probs with flashing - have done it many times, although I don't think its related because I wouldnt need the NZ rom to use it, just the vodafone network settings, which can be downloaded via CAB file (or at least thats how it works with the TyTN) - My main concern is just getting what I'm paying for!
  19. Yeah I did see that - is it a bad thing?
  20. Hiya, I've never used ebay before - but I'm looking at getting this thing - http://cgi.ebay.com/New-HTC-Touch-Pro-T727...id=p3286.c0.m14 What's the best way of finding out whether a seller is trustworthy or not? I mean the price isn't so cheap that it's unrealistic (but it is about $250 cheaper than trademe). Cheers for any help
  21. Because old, cheap European cars with air bags iare apparently what gangsters drive? I mean sure, the whole stupidity surrounding people living in suburbs thinking they're gangster aside - how many gangsters actually drive around in old European cars? I was under the impression gangsters have a lot of money, hence drive expensive cars... Perhaps we should sponser a flight to Baghdad for all our 'gangsta' friends on trademe - it could be one of those reality shows.
  22. If you're running a 32bit OS it will only ever show 3.25GB cause thats the most they can handle.
  23. Yeah.... See that's what most of the figures I've seen are like... so I need someone who actually has one to gimmie realistic figures. I'm hitting 12.2 L/100KM - I find it really hard to believe a V8 5.0 litre engine is more fuel efficient than my 2.5L straight 6...
  24. What the hell's the point of owning something like a 03 745 if u cant drive it on those nights O.O damn insurance companies... always trying to keep a brother down What about the fuel efficiency question?! Ne one got any ideas about this?
  25. Hiya... So I was wondering, approx what would the fuel efficiency be for these two cars.... 2003 735 or 745 (would be awesome if someone can provide highway/city/both)... I'm having trouble finding the figures, so I was wondering whether someone has em. And also... I'm wondering - at what age do insurance companies stop charging really high rates solely because of age (I've heard all sorts of figures - between 21-26) Thanks for any help
