Hi, I have an 87 318i with an Auto M10. It overheated last week and I have since found out it has a blown headgasket. The head has not been removed yet, so I don't know if there is any damage to the head. What I would like are opinions and approx costs on the following. If motor is not cooked: Replace headgasket and return engine to condition it was in before. If motor is cooked: Would a rebuild be best, or replace the whole engine? If I replaced it, would it cost much more to change it to a 2.5L vairant? If I replaced it with a larger engine I would also like to convert it to manual, what would be the approximate cost to do so? Keeping in mind I would not be doing any of this work myself, it would all be done by a mechanic, are many hours of labor involved? Thanks heaps!

The chrome around your windows and bumpers makes me want to de-shadow line mine!

Last week I went to Fasttrack in pamure for some work stuff, its where all the freshly imported vehicles are compiled. Near their front gate is an area where they park all the out of the ordinary cars, and sitting there this week is a freshly imported red LHD e30 m3, my jaw dropped as its the first I've seen in person, it looked awesome. I was out there again this week, sitting in the same place was another, freshly imported LHD e30 M3 in black jap writing still all over the windows. I am so surprised I go from never seeing one before, ever, to seeing two in two weeks!

Off topic, but every time I see your sig I have the urger to take the monsoon shields off my car... but I'm not 100% sure I want to...

Noticed it when it was first listed, at $10,000. Tempted, just the interior picture looks a little like part of the dash is missing on the drivers side, and the carpet looks a bit dodgy (water damaged maybe).

Those photos are of an 87 e30... pre facelift.

Oh about $50.... sell them to me On a more serious note, depends on condition I guess. Id be willing to pay a bit (~$1500) for a set of mint ones.

Yeah, I like the wheels a lot, they really suit the car being from the same time period and all. P/f all the way! P.s. the car in your sig is hawt. Real hawt. Its tempting me to take my awesome monsoon shields off. Yes, I am. The younger, better looking, all round better brother. The dual floor mats are part of what keeps it so tidy! David has them in his car now too! And yes, the auto shifter is around the wrong way, I have swapped it around to the correct way since the pictures were taken. No, I purchased it here in Auckland, off an old man who lives/d in east Auckland. As JP said, wire. Two eye hook things, one at each end of the fence, wire in between, lay the branch/vine over the wire and let it grow. Occasionally come out and twist the branch/vine around the wire, but generally just leave it to grow.

My absolutely mint 1987 318i e30. Full mtech1 kit from factory 16" Racing Dynamics mags Pimping monsoon shields Sexy dash mat Blinging mud flaps Carpet saving double floor mats (original BMW ones and after market ones over top) Previous owner was an old man. Log book with everything thats ever been done to it since it entered NZ back in 1999. I have all the receipts for everything too. Blew me away when I saw it all. Currently 129,XXXkms. Was roughly 125,000 when I got it a few months ago. Have been lurking around the forums for a while now and finally decided to post up some pictures. These are from way back in May just after I got the car, I've been meaning to take some more with it dry but havnt had the time. Questions? Comments? Go.
