I have had a pre-facelifted E46 318 for 3 years and a facelifted 1 for 5 years. I have to say I like the facelifted 1 more as it's got (slightly) more grunt and it simpliy looks more modern. I sometimes drive my parent's E90 320i as well and i reckon it is at another level. Better shape, moother gearbox, better engine, better sound and better suspension (comparing to my E46s) HOWEVER having said all that, I think you might regret buying a 318 as they really lack power! but that's only my opinion anyway

I was on speedhunter just now and was inspired by one of their photos... so i decided to do my take of it! so there you go... my beloved(near stock) 318i vs the 320 WTCC! LOL

Hey guys, I am looking for a surgeon to operate on my E46 N42 engine in Auckland, and I only want to do it once and right. So... Which of them is more experienced when it comes to engine repair/rebuild? The BMWorkshop in Botany, the 1 in Grey Lynn, or the dealer at Newmarket? (needed the valve stem seals replaced, if that helps) Cheers

I am constantly running into trouble with insurance claims when the other party admitted fault on the spot, but refused to take liability later on!! In one extreme case, I was even insulted by a policeman because he thought I was a rich boyracer doing drifting. So I am wondering if I should invest in a blackbox / video recording device. Anything you guys would recommend?

I had a SG imported E46 before, and enjoyed it very much. SG or Jap imports usually have higher specs than NZ new. From what I HEARD, electrical problem usually happens to the SG ones, while Jap ones have rust problem underneath the car. Again, that is only what I've been told only I guess it really comes down to your luck

Could I come in tomorrow or wednesday? I am going oversea the end of this week and I really want to fix it (or at least find out what is wrong) before I go

Dealer as in an offical BMW dealer in Auckland (not gonna mention names) but I can say I have many bad experience with them (BMW dealers) except the one in Hamilton

My 2002 E46 318i automatic keeps jerking at traffic lights & round-abouts! Recently I had my inspection 1 done, o-rings and gaskets replaced at the dealer. After my 1st visit I noticed the oil were leaking at a rate of 1L a week. Went back and had the sump gasket replaced. Then white smoke and burning smell came out from the exhaust, and the car started jerking at traffic lights and round abouts when I accelerate lightly. So i went back for the 3rd visit and complained. The dealer said they have 1 of the o-rings misplaced, and fixed it for free However after my 3rd visit, the car is still jerking, and now black soot are coming out from the exhaust when it jerks!! I notice that it happens at 1500-2000rpm and more noticeable when i have my AC on. Q1. Would have anything to do with my AC, the bad job done by the dealer, a blocked cat. converter, or would it be the gearbox/torque converter failing. Would anyone be able to give me any ideas? Q2. Should I go back to the dealer or should I go to another workshop for a check?
