no i was simply saying a tyre is on the market, was not telling anyone to put on their bmw,i know i have more then one car and not all bmws so might others and may require a narrow 17 tyre to fit inside guards.

like any mod theres always going to be someone crying about what could happen. drifters have been do this for over twenty years in japan and in nz for the last 10 and yes they do get excessive damge to suspension parts, wheels /tyres,steering but thats over time, but if you lower or putting big wheels on your car,you cause simular damage over time.the factory spend millions on developing a car then the good old kiwis put it apart and change all the handling put stress on all the bearings, bushes and joints. im not advising anyone to do stupid things,i was simply telling others a very narrow 17 tyre was on the market.and if other forum members are like me have more then one car that are not bmw, they may have a project they are building may require this size

hey bravo i started this topic to let those who would do this weather i told them or someone else told them this product is out.im not telling people this is right or wrong.i know whats hot at the moment is "drifting" and people want to stretch tyres onto wheel.ive been in this industry long enough to know i can tell customers what should be done but it doesnt make a crap of difference because theyve seen it on mtv and want that.i could write all the ins and outs of what should and shouldnt be done, but it wouldnt matter. im not a cowboy or a muppet,im personally over bouncing down the road but theres guy spending their hard earn cash to get this look.good on them it might not be your cup of tea,but i see alot of the younger memebers on bimmersport talk about drifting and deep dished wheels if you check alot of modified cars in nz they have wrong size tyres.wheather it be too high or too low . thanx for your opinion bravo

hey bravo im just letting those who would do this weather i wrote this or not know theres this size tyre on the market.ive been in this industry long enough to know they'l do this wheater its illegal or not and weather it will damage there cars.im not telling people to do this and if you look at what is hot the moment its "drifting".so those in that frame of mind wants stretched tyres.im not a cowboy or muppet .i can talk to customers until im blue in the face about how bad its is but its cool to them.if you look at alot of the modified cars on nz roads they have the wrong size wheel and tyres on them.wheather it be too tall or too low.i was at a meet a while ago and every e30 there had under size tyres on,because it looked lower... cheers for your thoughts

i was recently talking to a nankang tyre rep and i notice something very cool in their stocklist. nankang make a NSII 185/35/17 performance tyre.if you want the low low look these will give you that.im yet to see them but how crazy is that.if you had the need to stretch a tyre onto your 7'' wide wheel.these could be the answer.check your local tyre shop or this forums sponsor

hi ive just been offered this wheel from my mag wheel supplier at a reasonable price for my e30 face lift.the wheels are 17x7 et 20 perfect fitment for e30. but im unsure if its style is e30 or too japanese.please help me out fellow bmw owners is it hot or is it not?dont be shy tell me want you really think has a 20mm dish
-
im guessing by the way youve explained the round and rectangle is only cosmetic,as long as the outer diameter of the cap is the same it should be fine.however there is two ways they lock into the rim,one is locked in the centre and the other on the edge of the cap
-
if you use a 20mm spacer any of these wheel will tuck under the guards even when dropped 60mm.if the rims 7.5 you might need to roll the rear guards.just remember the cops are out to get anyone at the moment so get it certed for spacers.had a customer in yesterday that was pulled over because he was low,car was certed but cop green sticker him anyway cos he had 18''mags on car not 15'' standards like cert said, cop wanted letter from tyre shop to say wheels were ok for that model.what a knob..

4/100 is your stud pattern ,but at 40p they will sit in approx 2'' in from you outer guard, and if they are any wider then 7'' theres a possibilty they will rub on your strut.
-
hi i think they are a good looker ,would be really nice in a hyper with machined lip or even black with machined lip.ive been looking for 17'' but ive just got some from gt radial.good old Doug D.

thats true.and it would be great if every drifter in the series could be sponsored , however alot of the newer drifters on the scene at the moment dont have the backing of the big tyre firms so they ended up having to use entry level tyres or 2nd hand tyres sadly.i know of alot of small tyres business including myself sponsor a "up and coming drifter".we do what we do to get him there with the best tyre we cant afford to give him,,

ive always been impressed by the power of a m3,however it will look pretty dumb when it loses control because its drizzled and the roads a little damp.i know as a young lad many years ago showing off to a bunch of people and writing my car off and having to walk to work every day for six months.that really impressed the girls lol
-
yeah goodyears are great ive been selling for many years, and have had really good feedback, even from people who have taken off pirelli tyres and replaced with goodyears, however this person with the m3 wanted to go from goodyear to triangle.it will be skid fest ever time he drives ..
-
i admit i still entry level tyres and 2nd hands for my own personal cars, however my ute is only used once a month and has top speed of 120ks if im being towed by a m3 lol.and my little e30 my everyday toy could not pull the skin off a rice pudding. combined the dont have the horses a m3 has.i believe it might be finances too, buteven a mid range tyre would have been a better idea then a "triangle" tyre
-
i agree about the harder tyre more fun idea, however when youve already got crazy power and a tyre that cant hang on.i think you need a tow truck to pace you until the inevitable happens slap the barrier on motorway or clip a few parked cars..dont get me wrong i love the sideways movement .drift is king
-
i personally dont have a problem with 2nd hand quailty tyres, ive found sometimes they are much better then a entry level new tyre.however when you have a m3 with 300+ i would not want to clip a motorway barrier because its aqua glided due to half worn tyres

thats what i thought but he was keeping itare you running 205/55/15?

i run a tyre shop in mt eden village,90% of my customers have no problem buying high quality tyres but theres that 10% of drive in or trade me customers that are on there own planet.. last week we had a geniune e46 m3 come in for tyres,i thought wow a real bmw lover, boy was i wrong!!! he asked for the cheapest tyres to fit,i thought ok so i priced up all the usual high end tyres,he stopped me and said sorry but i want budget tyres.WHAT??? he wanted cheap chinese tyres or 2nd hand tyres,i thought i was being "punked" so i looked for the cameras, this guy was for real!! WHY why would you do that?its not like he had a rusted out 1971 toyota corolla. ive had a few people come in asking for the cheapest tyres for their bmws and have steered them back into the right direction.but its getting more and more common to see people come in and say i brought these cheap off trade me and they are so noisy.can i replace them with a better quality tyre.what a waste of money they only saved $20 buying a cheaper tyre ,then two months later they are replacing those with a better quality tyre.where are peoples heads...theres so many good quality tyres on the market at very good prices but people go for cheap and nasty

pictures of my old girl, she needs a little tidy up

you shouldnt need spacers if your running 20-25 offset wheels these fill out the guards.
