Hey guys, need to sell some sh*t to fund the project and get it moving! -51mm front struts - $300 ono -325i larger sway bars - $50ec ono -M325i engine and manual gearbox comes with everything under the bonnet except oil cooler and clutch slave. has done 140,000 miles but pulls like new is still in the car so come and drive it and c for urself it is one of the quietest e30 engines ive heard -this is just 4 expressions of interest as im not going to remove it untill my other engine is ready. but id be looking for around $1500
-
yea ur on the right track there jono.. that engine set up would be awsum but as there is also alot needing done on the body side of the car i cannot afford to heavily modify the engine.. but hopefully later down the track i can pull it out again and make it ultimate. i should hopfully have the mounts made up and it sitting in my mock up car by the end of next week.
-
Nice work im currently doing the same engine conversion (without the turbo - yet ) just a quick question, where did u get the driveshaft done? what drivehafts did u use and how much did it cost ya? Cheers Mate
-
what do u mean? mine is a Gen 3 motor.. and i originally brought it as a project to just clean up and rebuild most of it for fun.. i was neva going to put it in a car but obviously thats changed lol And cheers Brent... im not to bothered at the moment, i might end up putting a small turbo on the side so the lower compression might come in handy.
-
oh really? i got my info from this Site if u read the '3rd generation' section it says its the highest compression and is the most ideal for 335i conversion and it says these engines range from '87 to '92 which would include my engine??
-
it actually came from an e32 seven series
-
1988 - which im pretty sure is the latest generation... also the best one?? and yes.. glad i chose to drive it back lol

so the plan now is to get the body back in gud shape and carry on with the 3.5ltr conversion. im just waiting to sell my 318i and a few bits and peices b4 i can carry on. i aquired a pfl e30 coupe shell 2day ( borrowing from Ray @ Hellbm - so cheers Ray ) to use as a template for the M30 so i can get it running and mounts made b4 i rip into the motorsport. so getting the mounts made and the engine running is my next priority. while doing this i will be trying to sell the 2.5ltr out of the motorsport along with the gearbox and a few other peices i wont be needing in order to get the cash required for the m30. so thats where im at... will try to keep ya posted on any progress made. Cheers guys Ben

Alriight. Now i know ive had the car for like a week now and havent posted any pics but thats just coz im slack. the drive up from dunedin was fantastic... no issues with the car, it ran flawlessly. we drove from dunedin to chch the first day. chch all the way to taupo the second and then to auckland the third. the car is actually in better condition than i expected. being a uk model i expected alot more rust, so far there is only the small amount under the windscreen (as shown in the auction) a small amout around the rear lights and on the front sills under the car. and the paint is peeling in a few places but its not that noticable till u get up close. overall im very happy with it and it pulls really hard and sticks to the road like glue. anyway here are a few pics we took on the trip home. we didnt get many as we were in a hurry.

bump.. anyone interested?
-
thats something im gunna have wait to find out.. the engine is not that much heavier so it shouldnt do much. i am also going to place the engine as far back as humanly possible in order to counter the extra weight.
-
na managed to knock a few hundred off that.. got it for $5800. i thought that was a pretty good buy, hopefully i wont be dissapointed when i pick it up.
-
haha i think i will put the b35 in... and cheers but we wont have anytime in dunedin.. we are landing at 5pm and staying in chch that nite.
-
cheers for that Jono - with the M20B20 flywheel, i have been through alot of discussion with ppl and im told with the M20B20 starter (which seemed to fit ok) will work. - as for the transmission, again im told the M10 will work fine and have heard of a few other success stories with them. i am aware that the drive shaft will need altering and am ok with doing this. - as for the possition i have talked to my mechanic who is very good with things like this and basiclly im going for as far back as possible and installing either a single or double electric fan onto the outside of the radiator so i can loose the standard belt driven one. this should give me enuf room. Anyway as i am doing this conversion for the first time any advice would be much appreciated but i think i am on the right track so far.. i have been told the above will work.. Cheers again Ben

OK! havent updated anything for a while as i have been trying to find a shell... originally i was looking for a cheap facelift coupe but have since decided "f**k it, im going all out" So have brought a 1986 M325i, im sure many of u have seen it on trademe its the one with the glass sunroof. it looks really tidy and will be picking it up from dunedin this friday and driving it back to auckland over the weekend. the delema is.. i am unsure of whether i should rip out the engine and put the M30B35 in or whether u guys would consider this sacrilege. the alternative is i sell the 3.5ltr and do up the car in other ways.. so let me know what u think. below is the only image i have of it untill i get it back to auckland, will try to get some awsum pics on the trip back. Cheers
