I am very keen to know what the results are. Please keep us informed.

I rang up AA and asked if they did a review on this and they said had not. Where did you get your information from?
-
Oops, I haven't changed my profile info. I've sold the lancer now.

I am thinking about getting one. I think spending $250 bucks to find out if the unit works will be worth it. If it does not then I will return it since he gives a money back guarantee. If he refused to give me back my money then I am sure Fair Go would love to hear about it. It will be worth the money and effort. My concern however is if I could do some damage to my new E90 as a result of using the device. Now that I would not be happy with! www.fuelstar.co.nz

I don't know man. The guy's been selling the units for a long time and has remained in business. If he was a fraud he'd have been busted by now. He's had quite a bit of press coverage. I have a question for you, have you ever tried it? I think the proof is in the pudding. You have to try it before you judge it.

Any of you guys own it? IF so then make sure you stop and give me a lift next time!
-
LOL, I noticed that too. I am surprised to see no diesel owners boasting about their fuel economy. My mate who owns a 320d claims he can get 1000kms out of his 60l tank!
-
Some interesting statistics. I will run some more tests on my car and see what I get. I hope to get over 500 from about 60l of fuel for inner city driving. So far I appear to be on track.
-
Damn, these figures don't look good. My tank indicates 1/2 full and I've only squeezed out 250kms from my E90 323i. Most of it is inner city driving (stop start stop stuff) but there is a stretch of about 34kms on the motorway. Works out about 8kms per litre or 12.4l per 100km. Next time I'll take a ride from Aucks to Rotovegas. See what I get.

Have you ever gauged fuel consumption for your bimmer for city driving only? If so please share! Model and Year Tank capacity Total kms done Cheers Norm

Dension Ice Link to be precise. :-) Looks like a nice unit. Apparently charges your iPod as well. Only problem is it appears 1) technical to install and 2) I can't find anyone who sells it here in NZ. Any help?
-
It does not have a proper iPod link. It just has an auxillary in feature via a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack. You can't control your iPod using the steering wheel controls.

I would like to get an mp3 stereo for my E90. The dash does not appear to accommodate normal stereos. Anyway of getting around this? Also the factory stereo is integrated with controls on the steering wheel for volume, station etc. Is there a way of integrating new stereo units with these controls?

Hi, My understanding is the E90 323i's 2.5l I6 is exactly the same as the E90 325i. The 325i however produces about 160kw of power compared to the 323i's 130kw. Is it possible to "chip" the 323i to produce 325i levels of power? Thanks Norm
-
Thanks mate. Will do.
-
Does anyone know a mag shop that sells alloys and tires for the E90? Thanks.
-
Mate, did you get your alloys as an upgrade from BMW or did you have them done elsewhere?
-
Damn you've got a nice car. :-)
-
Or any other sort of anti-theft device?
-
Does anyone know a mag shop that does alloys for the e90? Thanks Norm

The 323i is not sold brand new in NZ. In Oz it costs AU$68k for the base model. That's about NZ$77k. Do you think the car would sell for that much brand new in NZ?
-
No Sir it's a sedan but it is green-grey. Perhaps that's the only colour they came in! I've been surfing 323i reviews and it appears they are sold brand new in Australia and also Canada. Aside from cold starting problems (which I should not have any issues with in Auckland) I have not read anything negative about the vehicle. If they give me a good deal I could well become a proud BMW owner. :-D
-
From what I've been told it is a new car from germany but it cannot be sold in NZ as new because it is not part of the "official" list. This is probably just sales talk but I will clarify this.
-
Hi, thanks for your reply. The dealer is team mcmillan. I spoke to them in the weekend. The car should come with a 2 year warranty so it should be ok. The way they explained it to me was that it was essentially a new car but since it was not in the list of the official BMWs that were to be sold in NZ they have to sell it as a used car. They do this by putting at least 2000kms on the clock. I will check for the possible issues as you suggested. As for modifying the car to bring it up to 325i power levels, do you know anyone who can do this? It's not on my immediate list of things to do but I might consider it down the track.

Hi, I've always wanted to own a BMW ever since I was a kid. Now I am finally in a position to get one. :-) The car I am interested in is a 2007 BMW 323i. It's not a model that is sold brand new in NZ but a number of dealers have them and in near new condition. I have some questions about this model and would appreciate any help you can give me: 1) Overall it appears to be a good car but how does it compare with say the 320i and the 325i? 2) It has the same engine as the 325i yet churns out less power. The reviews describe the engine as a "detuned" 325i engine. Is this true? And if so does this mean that the engine can be tuned to produce more power? Are there "official" BMW engine tuners out there who could do this and would this be something a 323i owner should consider? 3) Since this is a new model I can't find much about reliability. As a general rule of thumb should I be aware of any problems the new 3 series cars have been having? 4) Any other comments/advise you guys might have. Thanks in advance Norm
