  1. Two men walk into a bar. You'd have thought the second one would have noticed.
  2. I've emailed both BMW Japan and the dealer I bought the car off. As of yet no responses.
  3. I found this bunch who do motor vehicle warranties at what appears to be pretty good rates www.warrantydirect.co.nz They "cover" 160 mechanical and electrical parts and systems: http://www.warrantydirect.co.nz/cover.htm What do you think of this? Is it comprehensive enough? Is there something specific to Bimmers that is missing from this list?
  4. As the ad says, it's "the ultimate driving machine". Simply a superb vehicle to drive.
  5. Haha, nah mate no problems. Car's running beautifully. I guess it is a bit of paranoia but then I've always been a cautious type of person.
  6. Well, there you go. Might not be as bad as I initially thought. I am going to email these guys and see what they have to say about honouring their manufacturer's warranty.
  7. I have no idea how I would contact BMW Japan. I hope it never has to come to that. As for savings, I don't think I saved that much ... about 10k tops.
  8. Thanks for that. I will email the dealer and ask them what their position is on this. All else fails I'll get the warranty from elsewhere.
  9. Hi, yes I do realise that. I wasn't talking about servicing as much as any future issues I might encoutner with my car and having to make the claim from BMW Japan which would be a difficult proposition as compared to dealing with someone locally. Having no idea who to talk to in Japan would not be a good start plus there are the language issues etc.
  10. Not much of a facelift. Still looks a lot like the original.
  11. Hi, I was given some bad news yesterday and was wondering what people think about this. In short, I bought a 2007 BMW 323i (imported from Japan) from a non-BMW dealer earlier this year. The dealer said the vehicle had a manufacturer's warranty that BMW would honour. Actually I can't remember whether they said whether BMW NZ would honour it or just BMW in general. Yesterday I was organising servicing for my car and started talking to the guys at Jerry Clayton's about the manufactuer's warranty. They told me that BMW NZ will not cover the costs associated with repairs on my car and I would have to seek compensation from BMW Japan! I was also informed that this is a difficult process and there is next to no chance of me getting my money back if there is an issue with the car. What do you think about this? If something was to go wrong with my car would I be screwed? I guess I would be facing two options if something did happen i.e. 1) get the car fixed by an authorised repair workshop and try to claim from BMW Japan or 2) give up on the warranty and get the car fixed by an unofficial, but reliable, workshop like BMWorkshop. Option 1 would be dearer but there is a chance I could get my money back, while Option 2 is cheaper but I don't get my money back. I am also thinking about getting an AA warranty on the car. What do you think about this? It is quite pricey at $1500 for 3 years. Thanks Norm
  12. Haha! I'd love new 325i, especially that coupe sitting up at sky city. :-D
  13. Ouch, that would really hurt the old pocket. I didn't realise it was so dear.

    fuel economy

If you're feeling brave give fuelstar a go and then tell us what the results were. :-D
  15. I am thinking about getting leather upholstery for my Bimmer. Do you know of anyone who could do this at a reasonable price? Thanks
  16. Hey thanks, these guys look great and they're on my way to work as well. :-)
  17. Hey thanks. I will give him a call although he is a little bit further out then I would like to travel. Perhaps I should ahve mentioned I am in central auckland.
  18. I have a 2007 E90 323i that I bought with 6ks on the clock. It's now coming up to 10ks and I would like to get my car serviced. Obviously I could go to one of the accredited BMW places e.g. Team McMillan, but that will probably set me back a grand. Anyone know of any BMW competent garages that could service my car and not break the bank? Where do you get your new Bimmer serviced?
  19. Mate, by pure chance a friend of mine has the wheels magazine that did the research on fuelstar back in 1997. I'm picking it up tonight.
  20. Yes, that is an issue. Apparently the battery is only good for 100,000kms. But with technology improving I can see better batteries in the next 5 years.
  21. I found this on the web: http://www.teslamotors.com/ There are heaps of articles and clips for the car on the net. Not only does it look nice but the performance characterstics are right up there with other sports cars in its class. The only down side is still the range which is limited to 350kms but I reckon it is probably a lot less if you drive aggressively. But then I also found this on the web: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/...71219103105.htm So this breakthrough could mean that within 5 years we could have an electric supercar that can do a sub 4 second 0 - 100 and will go 2000+ kms on one charge!
  22. LOL! I spoke to consumer as well and they said they have not done anything on it either. I suggested they do and they said they'll look into it.
