Hey all, A good friend of mine down in Christchurch has (along with a few other session musicians) been involved in putting out on a new song which is a tribute to the yachtsman Sir Peter Blake called The Great Man of the Sea. They were saying that there seems to be a generation of New Zealanders now who haven't really heard of him, nor his amazing contribution to our country. That, and this year it is 25 years since he won the Whitbread round the world yacht race and 20 years since he lead Team NZ to win our first America's Cup event. Anyhow some footage from the recording sessions is here & song is on iTunes etc. https://www.facebook.com/BrotherHoodMusicNZ I've always thought that he was a pretty inspirational kinda guy & happy to do my bit to help spread the word!

Anyone know of a 1982 or later 635 being parted out or anyone with an engine available for sale? Was speaking to a guy a couple of days ago who is looking for one. Cheers

What is wrong with the one in Lower Hutt? And how does hi vis make it any better? Perhaps they need to spread a few road cones around also so that people don't walk into each other

I'm intrigued why you would sell a set overseas when you could get more $$$ locally? I've been looking for a set of these for 2-3 years. Up to $4k wouldn't be unreasonable to expect to pay. They do come up on ebay from time to time but being as rare as rocking horse poop they are hard to get hold of. Although prices are a bit less than what you would pay in NZ the freight costs from US to NZ just kill it.

Hi, I'm possibly after a right hand side rear suspension arm for a 1984 M635 (which I think is the same as the non-M?). At least I think this is what it is called. It's the bit where the shock attaches on to at the bottom Anyone parting one out? Cheers

Looks like from the Trade Me ad that the seller is in Hamilton? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-401450838.htm

Some in-car footage from an E36 Supertourer in the Historic Touring Car Class at Ruapuna last weekend. The Diet Coke Group A M3 in this video is a Wellington Street Race winner in 1989. Some quite good footage of the other touring cars in this series (check out the pace of the RS500 down the straight!). A close tussel between anothe STW car and a Group A M3. It certainly is a fantastic class that is developing with some mighty fine machinery, most of which are Group A or Supertouring BMW's, but also quite an array of group A cars including ATCC RS500 Sierra, Walkinshaw XJS Jag, Commodore, ETCC Rover, BTCC Carina etc. A few photos of the weekend on flickr here... Was that your case that was referenced on in the Wairarapa Times Age a couple of days ago? Police looking for information about a red BMW doing burnouts in the Bentley Street area around 7pm one night? It said they know the rego of the car but just looking for more info. Interestingly it didn't say 'reportedly doing burnouts' or 'allegedly doing burnouts'. But either way, i wonder if the fact that they're looking for information from the public suggests that their case may be a bit weak and they're looking for other witnesses to provide something more concrete.

What happened there? Item has been withdrawn???
-
Anyone know what price it sold for?
-
What's up with the instrument panel in Photo 4? Looks weird.
-
What a fantastic looking car. Low start bid but I would be surprised if the reserve wasn't $25k plus.
-
Just out of interest, what's a Tech 1 kit worth these days? They look great.
-
Is it a problem if he is?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=265466190 Looks like a nice car. Wasn't this one competing in the Intermarque Sprints a while back? But now in Christchurch. Some quick times from memory.

You could also get an E36 M3 for under $20k.
-
It would be hard to go past this for the asking price. Surprised no one has bought it yet. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-261033834.htm

I wanted an E36 M3 combination road and track day use and spent quite a lot of time researching this question before I bought mine. The consensus I reached after reading a lot of articles and talking with people who had built reliable E36 M3 race cars was that although the Evo has more horsepower as standard, the 3.0L model is far more robust with its bullet proof block and relatively trouble-free single vanos. Horsepower isn't everything, as with suspension tweaks, brake upgrade, weight savings, intake & ECU upgrades (the list goes on...) I felt that it was an excellent base to build from that would give me reliable performance.

Thanks Hybrid, thats a great site. I'm looking at these for my E24 635 but either way it looks like it warrants careful investigation. Some really useful advice, thanks guys.

That's interesting re the big brake kit incompatability, thanks. I have done some research on the Wilwood kit and it appears they require a minimum 17" wheel. Sounds like 17" wheels can have different internal diameters.
-
Or that one too! Should just concentrate on wheels instead of that and big brake kits at the same time. Anyhow, back on track...

Hmm just realised I should have posted this in the brakes & suspension forum... sorry!
