Returned home from a large trip and had the oil level come up on the i-drive screen, we quickly sorted that out, filling the car with Mobil 1 to keep it happy. As soon as I've done this this morning, went to start the car and the a "Active steering failure" has come up on the i-drive screen... Are the two related or what should I do? Have enclosed a couple of pics, owners manual doesn't say which one is the power steering fluid is, so I've posted up a pic for those in the know to point it out lol...

I'm actually keen to get an X5 down the track, would prefer kiwi new, black, sportpac, 20" optionals and preferably 3.0d as a friend of mine has one, he gets better than car fuel economy and 170kw with over 500nm of torque, they're just absolutely stunning for a diesel! Pay a hefty price tag for diesel tho & I also understand no diesels came out from Japan? Cheers.

I'd go one step further and say I'd rather have bird flu than drive that road after the warbirds finished up... Yeah, passed through Kokonga, small place but has a pub is that right? My Black was passing through there yesterday, were you there then?

Total BS. Sorry to hear that

I just did a 850km round trip co-inciding with the easter bunny shoot which was crap, I done a huge pass in the 5 covering about 6 cars lol, then this muppet does the same from the back and goes straight past a cop in a rental Camry and busted him. On the way home from Wanaka, I took the Middlemarch route home to Dunedin, was probably less than 30 cars on that road between Omakau and Outram, yet I was bumper to bumper from Wanaka to Cromwell, all heading South/Dunedin. Worth noting, filled up when I got back, car had used 90 litres and gave me 850km and that was with a full boot of gear & not taking it at all that easy. Car was just brilliant! Because the trip computer was set to open road conditions, when I filled up it it said 1050km till empty lol!!!! Car just wouldn't do that but looked pretty good lol! Got a photo of it later on with a bit less km down the road a bit...

Thanks a million for your help RvT You'd think with a car thats worth 45-50k that it would have the bloody cd carosel in it. I wouldn't have purchased it off the yard without it! Working my way up to an M5 though, when they're 80-100k I'll be there waiting with bells on

Got a E60 Jap import - Just wanting to know how to reset the i-drive or atleast reset the Navigation. I know it doesn't work here in NZ, but it's how you access the trip computer statistics - for some reason when I hit Navigation it just goes to a blank screen... Any help is much appreciated. Cheers.

Thanks for that, appreciated. Yeah, suppose I will have to just bite the bullet with it. Have found today that the single slot is mp3 compatible so I can get 700mb of music on it. Tried through the previous owner but he said it was never in there when he bought it himself. The bastards must have swiped it when it was on the boat.

Hi there. Thanks for that, much appreciated! Would it be possible to get a picture of that unit mate? Have searched ebay with that part number to no avail. The "Stealers" want $200+ GST roughly, which is bollocks
-
Yeah mate, thats with the lights on "Park" though lol
-
Lights look like reflectors?

I've literally had dozens of cars But three BMW's worth mentioning... First BMW was a E30 320i - Was a great little car! Second was another 3 series, this time a E36 325i - That was a quick car! Third one & current drive vehicle is a E60 525i in black with black leather...

Done 1500km to deliver my old car and collect my new one. Had two cars: - Merc CLK-55AMG - E60 BMW 525i Had the radar detector in both cars and BOTH cars came up with ABS failures & turned the ESP and the DSP off on the cars. Both times it came up with the fault, the radar detector restarted itself. Once I removed the radar detector because we thought there was something up with it, from the BMW it never happened again... Does anyone know if the radar detector would do such a thing to a car? i.e voltage spikes e.t.c to make one of the ECU's fail?

Got my black beast and found that the CD-Autochanger was empty, i.e no carosel... Does anyone know of a cheap decent wrecker for E60's or somewhere on Ebay to get them, have checked ebay but nothing! Not wanting to pay the earth, normal CD player works fine... Drove the car with a full tank from Picton to Dunedin, not going slow... on one tank! Averaged about 10.3l per 100km!!!

Hahahaha! Some freebies then. I can neither confirm nor deny for obvious reasons that I have ordered a plate... Just another way of the NZ Govt keeping things inhouse... It really brings home the question of: How does NZ Plates justify a $750 difference???
-
Just got this response from them: Hello, we no longer sell those NZ plates as they are copyrighted by www.plates.co.nz We had to remove them immediately from our website. Also our recent sold NZ plates are not road legal as they dont have the NZ plate font and are not NZ govt approved. We sell them as show plates only although many NZers use them without problems. All i can do for you is producing the german plates and send you the NZ stickers but you have to place them yourself on the plates. We are no lomger allowed to do this. greetings from Germany Chris [email protected]

Yeah I did that without hesitation before I made the post here. Stupid bugger lol!
