I Also have the factory Widebody flares which will come with the vehicle.

there's a few scratches etc as its been used off road, but no rust or dents.

  2. I love the F40. Back in the early 90's when i was on the continent, i saw my first one at Beaulie car museum parked up in the carpark. What a magnificent day that was.

However more memorable (especially to a 15y/o) was the F40 on FACTORY 'Prova' rego plates going absolutely bonkers over a mountain pass that runs between Modena/Maranello and Firenze. Never had i heard such a noise or seen such a sight.

    *sigh*

  3. Current Subaru Owner here. I've had a WRX and My Current RSB.

Just want to clarify a few points.

    1. Like Beemers, Subies need PREVENTATIVE maintenence! If you like your big end bearing, and like to give it a bit of stick every now and again, 5000km oil changes are a must.

    2. When doing cambelts, clutches and anything else major, for gods sakes do the crank seals, waterpump, o-rings and any other kind of anti oil leak device while there. This way, 20,000km down the track there wont be a massive pool of oil under the car after a good thrash. And your engine will love you.

    3. The TT's. Avoid pod filters like the plague, and avoid Vent to atmosphere BOV's. Pod filters have a habit of rooting the AFM which can give you all sorts of grif. V-T-A BOV's cause the car to run rich as the AFM thinks the air which is being vented is still in the car.

    4. $90 worth of marley drainpipe running down your inner guard and attached to the factory airbox gives fantastic results and as the factory silencing rubbish is removed - you get a great PSSSHHHHT sound :-)

    5. Either a Zerosports sequential controller or some ECV mods will map out most of the lag between turbos.

    6. If your getting burnt oil smells after a cane, you have weeping/leaking rocker cover gaskets. A PITA to replace, but a normal issue :)

Subies rock. I'm thinking about keeping mine and delaying the purchase of the 540 for a month or two now.

  4. Awesome! Thanks heaps for the info people! It pays to be prepared when buying a new car.

drftit, i had the car you bought on my watchlist out of sheer curiosity, awesome purchase!! And i'll be checking that link when i get home (TM is blocked here).

Apologies for not doing the search thing first, I did have a quick scan last week but didnt seem to be sated enough by what i saw, hence the thread :)

  5. As per topic. I'll be purchasing at some point in the coming months. I'll likely be looking around MY: 1996-2000. Does anyone have advice on what i should be looing for?

Common issues with these cars? Difference between Singapore and Japland cars? I'm trading up from a Subaru so i'm well versed in preventative maintenence and marque specific issues lol.

I Could sway to an E34 fro the right one, but over the last week the E39 has really grown on me..

    Thanks For your help!

  6. As per title.

    113xxxkm

    NZ new

    3 ownrs

Service history from new (factory service booklet from berfore my ownership, full receipts during my ownership. All work done by Subaru in wellington previous to my ownership and by Maclennan Performance during my ownership)

2.0 DOHC Boxer Engine Running a Sequential Twin Turbo setup.

These Engines had semi forged pistons, sodium filled exhaust valves and were rated at 205kw from the factory.

AWD - Incredible grip. An outstanding car to srive in the wet!

5 Speed Manual Transmission as found in the WRX STI of the same vintage.

    LSD

    35% Prof. Tinted windows

Zerosports Sequential controller - Removes the lag that happens as the turbos transition from primary to Primary and Secondary.

    Factory Bilstein shock absorbers

Cambelt, Idlers, tensioners and relevant seals done @ 105k

    New Diff and Gearbox fluids

    New NGK Platinum Spark Plugs

New Clutch/Pressure plate and release bearing Going in tomorrow (Wed 4th march)

    Dark red Mica in colour

This is a very tidy car owned by an enthusiast, however it is not without its blemishes. It has a few stonechips and the wheels have a fair amount of curbing. However the overall condition is excellent considerg the model and its age. All the major maintence items have been done (clutch, cambelt etc), and I have over $3000 in receipts. This car has not been boyracerfied, or boyraced.

$6750 Or will consider swap For E34 540i +/- cash or maybe an E39 540i Plus cash. Open to offers that are realistic! :)
