  1. After a quick trip up to palmy, i decided the shocks were completely flogged, and with a trip up to the waikato looming, i thought i should see to them quick smart. I was originally going to get bilsteins, but being the time of year it is, i settled on monroe sensatraks @ half the price of bilsteins (I did have to remind myself that this car is my cruiser, and the subie is the corners machine..). I also thought it would be wise to get some H&R springs at the same time.

I'm absolutely stoked with the result - the car has been transformed from land yacht to a car that feels well connected with road.

    Anyway. Teaser pic!

  2. Hi all,

My car has an intermittant engine vibration when idling. Initially i thought it may have been a leaky injector flooding one cylinder, but i'm not so sure now.

    Symptoms:

Vibrates first time the car is started when cold - Continues vibrating until revs pass 4k, then the vibration will dissapear completely regardless of revs. Its quite a vivid vibration, possibly only running on 7.

Sometimes it starts to vibrate after sitting at the lights/in traffic - same as above to clear vibration.

I've noticed recently that it seems to occur when the fuel level is below 1/4 tank - this makes me wonder if it could be my fuel pump or maybe fuel pressure regulator? Fuel Filter is about 3k old.

    Any ideas?

  3. If you were in the South Island I'd happily hand over 5k for that. If your keen to drive it down here I'll have the foldies waiting and fly you home at my cost.

EDIT: If you were happy with that (IF) would you be prepared to have the coil issue fixed? Will fund the part if it wasn't over the hill in price ofcourse.

Mate, thats reasonably tempting. I'll have a think about it over the weekend and let you know. Probably the best step from here is to take the car down to mikes and get a proper diagnosis on the vibration/backfire and take it from there. I'll try and get in in the shop early next week.

  4. Cheers guys. The absolute need that i had to sell this kind of disappeared last night, so now I'm in two minds about passing this on. I'm going to leave it advertised here, and on the intranet at work, but I think this is as active as I will get at this stage.

The car is real tidy except for a small dent on the rear of the bootlid and thinning paint on the rear passenger door, and the odd stonechip up front.

    Issues:

Engine vibration at start. Suspect faulty injector/coil. Vibration dissapears after 5-10 secs

Left rear schnitzer has a mild buckle. Quoted $160 to fix @ rimrite.

I would dearly love to hang onto it and rectify the above issues, however circumstances dictate that this car MUST go!

  6. I listen mainly to Folk Metal, G-Rap, Grime and breakbeat. Anyone that knows me knows i'm not really ashamed of anything i listen to.

For instance, I'll extol the virtues of Lily Allen to anyone that will listen. Though it does raise the odd eyebrow when i'm listening first to say, Equilibriums Blut Im Auge, and then chuck on lily's LDN straight after lol.

  7. +1 to that!

Thats my wallpaper on my work PC :P

There's a plethora of m60 powered E34's around here. There's a sexy black one just down the road, A green one that i often park next to in the work carpark (same schnitzer rims too!) There's mine, another one like mine nearby, plus, there's a very, very sexy E34 M5 lurking in the shadows, somewhere locally too.

    <3 E34.

  8. IFrom what I've read it's approx 10:1 compression - so what sort of fuel do fellow 540 drivers use? I've been trying to stay away from BP98 and Mobil/Gull E10 (purely because of availability) and have been running Shell V-Power.

I Use BP98 in my 540. I've found i get both the best performance and best economy. Second choice would be V-Power.

I'm not so sure how the m60/62 is on Ethanol fuels.

  9. To those of you saying you like it, i really hope you haven't seen it in the flesh.

This car is an absolute monstrosity. Its incredibly rough in every respect, and each time i see it it gets worse. Last time I was in repco, he was trying to track down a standard front bumper cover. Here's hoping he's going to improve it.
