  1. Thanks for all of your welcomes. I'm still loving the 330. Picked it up for only $14k (off trade me) from a really great bloke in auckland. Took it on a road trip to Bay of plenty and had lots of fun on the way back. Ridiculous amount of tourque on these. The 328 was a proper rough and ready drivers car. The 330 is completely different, silky smooth but stilll loads of of power. Very different cars indeed, but both good in their own way. Yuen, I've got a post on Jatco jerks in the maintenance section. Since you seem quite knowledgable about BMW issues I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Cheers

    Fair enough

Coming from england it is quite interesting to see that Hondas have such a boy racer reputation, in NZ. In the UK hondas (and rovers by default) have an old person image of slow drivers out on a sunday afternoon. I actually like hondas and owned an 87 prelude (complete with foam spolier). It was a great luxury/sporty car for the money (remember that everyone has to have insurance in the uk). My girlfriend has a beat up 95 civic LX. It is a sherman tank, it will never stop or break down no matter what. We both love it but recognise it as the car to do the dirty jobs that we don't want the beemer doing. BMWs still have the same reputation from the 80s - the yuppy car. First chance I got to own one in NZ i took it. I never looked at a beemer in the UK due to the ridiculous amount of insurance (nealry as mach as the car for old ones). I'm now on my third straight beemer in NZ. The main differnce for me is the quality of the car that I drive. Sure my car is 8 years old but when I park it next to that 2008 model other car I still know that it holds it own in equipment, engineering and prestige (and yes there is definately a snob factor to owning a beemer otherwise we'd all own subaru WRXs for the money). Anyway, just want to say that hondas are great, if you want a honda. BMWs are great if you want to own a Beemer. We've got both and are well happy with them. The boy racers just pick up anything with a racing breed (that they can initially afford) and spend a ridiculous amount of money making a crap car into a really crap car (superfluous upgrades whether a beemer or a honda) when they could afford a decent car if they didn't. I'm just suprised that you guys don't dislike the subarus as much as the hondas as they are about the cheapest and nastiest things on the road. Cheers p.s. my best ever car was an 89 Daihatsu Charade GTTI. 1 lirte with a turbo stuck on it - it was like driving a go-kart, but I wouldn't buy one over my current beemer.
  3. Even better then if I can't even flood it. Will try it for sure. Cheers
  4. Hi all, I came across the following tip for a solution to the jatco jerk. Jacto jerk is on cars that use the jatco automatic transmission (mazdas bmws etc) and may jerk (or jump) when changing from 1st to 2nd. Jatco transmissions are generally fitted to japanese BMWs as standard. I noticed this on mine, the transmission is perfectly fine so it is just something you get used to (ignore) as it only happens from 1st to 2nd and is usually only really noticable when cold. The solution I read up on is: Turn you ignition key to setting 2 (instrument lights come on but car isn't started). Depress the accelerator all the way to the floor for 25 to 30 secs. At this point you should hear a slight noise, this is the automatic transmission cpu resetting. Then start the car (obviously take your foot off the gas first). Apparantly the car learns your driving style over the next thousand Ks and sets itself to that. So if you are not the original owner it maybe that it is set to the previous owners driving style and that is why the jerk is occuring. I read it on bimmerfest. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it? I might give it a go next week and see if it works. Worst that can happen is that I flood the engine, which isn't a biggie. Give me a shout if your interested if it works. Cheers
  5. Hi All, Newbie here. I've owned three beemers to date. First of all I got a lemon of an E36 320 which cost me an absolute fortune but I still liked beemers so much I got myself a great E36 328i soon after. After a couple of years trouble free motoring with the 328 I'm now an ardent beemer fan (glad I didn't let that first one put me off) and have now got a new one. Picked up a really nice 2000 330i Motorpsort which is awesome. Alas, I've now got to get rid of the 328i so if anyone is interested in a great 328i just let me know (I've put a notice in the for sale forum). Pics of my 330: And a pic of my 328 that I'm selling: Would be great to get in touch with other people with a beemer habit. Cheers all.
  6. Hi All, new to the forum and I noticed this section for selling stuff. I've just picked myself up a nice 2000 330i motorsport. Unfotrunately this means that I have to lose my previous beemer, a great E36 328i. If anyone is in the market for a good condition 328 then just let me know.
