  1. Hi guys, looking around for a new engine for my e30. Preferably a B25. I currently have a tired old 2.0 that needs to come out as its never been running right. I would just like to replace it as it seems like a more economical option rather than replacing more gaskets and wasting more time and money on + I would rather a little more power too.

Just a few questions as I haven't really looked up anything about the swap yet, will the mounts be the same? If I get the cylinder block, sump, head, intake manifold will I need anything else? Or can I just plug everything back in from the stuff I already have? Cheers!!

Easy swap but depends on what you have currently, the very last of the 320i (1989/1990) had the motronic unit so it is just a straight swap

On earlier versions you need to swap all the motor electrics as well. Get a motor complete with as much as you can.

  2. There was a guy who traded classic cars in CHCH who had a few E30 M3s over the years, it might be worth talking to him about what he has got / or getting - I'll try and find his details.

This is the guy, he has this 2002 turbo look alike currently, 3.0cs coupe etc

  3. So many experts.

IMHO M325i's are worth good money and I bet this car sells fast. End of the day, the M325i Tech II is dream car for a lot of cashed up cats and they will not settle for anything else.

+1, there was a mint one sold out of Wellington recently and I understand the price was somewhere between $15 and $20k Almost M3 money!

  4. Ooops ...

Yep .. Pirelli RFT are the best there is ... period.

I agree that RFT just aren't as good as standard high performance tyres - but hell they are a heck of a lot better now than when they first came out, the preformance is almost as good I would say (both wet and dry).

Give the Pirelli P Zero RFT a try - you'll be amazed!! I have them on the Mini JCW and my brothers had the Continentals on his 3 series and he thought they were good until he put a set of Pirelli P Zero RTFs on - it was like buying a new car.

Not tooting Pirelli's trumpets either ... as I think they are ruining F1 at the moment with their bread crumb tyres.

I think Felipe Massa is looking for some Pirelli Run Flats...

  5. My partner and I are considering moving to Wellington for work and wondering what areas to stay away from and what areas to consider for a rental. We both will be working in Central Wellington but don't mind living out in the suburbs as would need a garage for the cars and garages seem to be a rarity in central places - well according to Tardme anyway.

    TIA

So, the thing about Wellington is that everybody swears by the part of town they live in. It just depends what you want, and if you need to travel to work (and of course, where work is). Bet is to spend a few days here beforehand and just check things out. prevailing wind is northerly, so everyone wants shelter from the northerly but all day sun. Closer you are to town, the harder to get garages and the more you will spend; the further out you are the longer it takes to travel anywhere...

But it is a great city to live in.
