I bought my NZ new 530i three years ago, have done 40km (100 to 140km) and has only required regular servicing plus set of tyres - it did have full service history (and still has!) and so, as above keep the maintenance up to scratch and should be no worse than any other similar car.
-
All the above is probably true, but I have had no problem towing my E30 race car about 1500kg including trailer etc with E60 530i, including trips Wellington to Taupo and return.

The full fix is to add a relay under the bonnet. The start wire will switch the relay will feed sweet clean fresh 12v direct from the battery.
OK, thanks, guys

I have this same issue on my e28 except it doesn't click. I've been told the starter trigger wire when old builds resistance when it's hot and won't trigger the starter. The easiest way to get it going is to use a wire to jump the pin in the diagnostic port for the starter trigger to the battery. Key needs to be on with ignition switched on.
I heard you could do that - which two pins?

My E30 325 road car has developed a bad habit of not starting, but only when it is at the most embarrassing time to choose to do so.
It starts fine cold - no problem. I can drive it to work, starts fine in the morning, starts fine after work.
It starts hot - no problem - ie, within 5 mnutes of switching off.
But stop for 30 min to 3 hours, ie time for a coffee or lunch, it will not restart. The engine does not turn over - it just goes click. So I am thinking either starter solenoid, or perhaps the ignition switch? I have checked all earth straps, under the bonnet and in the boot, all seem fine.
Thoughts?

So I bought a VW Golf booster, from 1 1993 model, but it does not appear to be a straight bolt up job - the push rod on the E30 booster sits flush with the front of the booster, but the Golf one is recessed about 20mm Also the Actuation rod at the rear is quite different - Have I got the wrong one?

Ben is the M20 gasket set for M20b20 or B25? ie 80mm or 84mm?

I would say 2.78 is too long for me.
Ideally 3.2x or even 3.15 or 3.3x.
2.78 is odd. What did that come out of?
South African 325i auto sedan

Might be able to do a 2.78 if that would suit?
