The electronics are NOT a nightmare any more than any beemer & are no different in an m-sport than any other 328. And personally I wouldnt get too stressed about mileage.170k + in a well maintained 13yr old 328 is nothing!!!...IMO

Are you talking 328 for $8-9k ? That would be right up at the top end I would have thought. A friend just bought a 90 e36 325 manual,130ks,nz new-very tidy apart from some minor panel damage for $2700. Not had any experience with 320s but I imagine parts to be very similar.

Economically speaking,with some patience & careful shopping around,you're probably better off trading up to a 325/328 manual. I guess a conversion would cost u a minimum of $1500 ish.( a 328 convo is around $2k )If u cant do it yourself. PM some of our sponsors & get some prices. 325s are pretty cheap now-depends on yr budget tho. Re going to Glenn. Well done,There are a stack of very helpful people on the forum & you've obviously figured those who should be listened to.

The small screen above the clock & date buttons. Jeffreys right-it should be illuminated so dead bulb probably. And yes,you start with the 1000. You should be able to see the time in the screen(just) even tho not illuminated.

I got to drive a manual one recently & was quite impressed. Even in auto it'l slap the hell out of your 320. But why not a 328-some good buys around on these.

The dealers have them, from memory I paid about 150 ish-Make sure you stipulate the bushes etc as well when ordering. Otherwise you'll end up with a sharp as shifter you cant use lol. EDIT Ask Glenn-he had some oem's that were a bit cheaper

You can get the struts re-gassed. PM forum sponsors Brent(Hartge),Ray(HellBM),Mike,Kerry(Mosens)etc for the parts ur after- should be able to help with trans swap prices too. Swap for a 328 is around 1300 or 2k fitted-depending who you talk to lol.

OEM=original equipment manufacturer ie genuine parts as opposed to aftermarket. As said-from a BMW dealer or Euro-Italian (forum sponsor)amongst others
