There should be a naki shot with a few cars from here under the mountain. Im definately keen for that.

mint. I think these cars are pretty much stacked up with everything you need in the original setup anyway. Just been looking around and there seems to be two sets of angle halos to choose from. they seem to be the cheap ones and then the expensive ones. I think I will go fr expensive ones. When it comes to BMW they are more pricey but at the end of the day are of great quaity. U get what u pay for i think

Hey guys thanx. I could pick her up tommorrow but have a few commissions to be paid out before I can pick it up. Bloody business. Where could I get the angel eyes etc from and whats the price i should expect. Have already had this thought in my mind. I would also love to have xenon lights installed as well. Is this a hard thing to do?

already onto that. have a specilist already inspected it and says it looks mint.

Fuel economy & insurance related question!
swiggs replied to Avenged.SSE's topic in General Discussion
my friend has a 745i 02 model. around town he gets 16L/100km on the highway its approx 12L/100km. Not that flash but not to bad for the size of the thing. My 740i is about 1L/100km better on both those stats - I do have a heavy foot as well. Love the acceleration. NOt so much speed. Insurance for me is a killer. I am 22. Been driving and had insurance with AA since I was 15. When I was 16 I worked with Hertz as a fleet manager for 2 years. This is the only reason I was able to keep insurance with them when I bought the v8 BMW but my premium went up to 1500 bucks p/a and thats with a 50% discount. I didnt want to take this but I had no choice really. But I went to the AA head office in person and spoke directly to the manger underrighter and I saved $450. Just by speaking to them in person. I havent ever had a ticket or an accident. Had one claim when a guy smacked into me in the car park and f**ked off. But because of my age they think im a flight risk for them. This is not fair really I believe. I like to have good cars. I have a good car as I run my own business but I get lubbed into the same catergory as all the bloody boy racers etc out there! -
Finally the 540i motorsport has arrived. Looks good as. Just wondering are their many other people on this forum that have one of these cars. What are they like to drive and fuel wise. Ive actually never driven a 5 series yet. but bought one. lol. Im a little aprehensive coming from the 740i I have. I love that car. But people say these are fun. Whats people experiences with these. is there anything I should know about them?? I pick her up at the start of october. cant wait. EDIT: added pictures and spelling

I do pitty you but would look fricken great when clean and in the sun. Nice

So your just very observant. Thats pretty good. But I must say the old pics didnt do it alot of justice. One thing with this car is its colour is forever dirty and without guards its just a disaster as soon as it hits wet roads!!

I was on the phone to him when I was posting this. So not to late. Just it is such a good car. S**t the new trans cost me 5k and the shop 3k for their stuff up. Maybe selling of the parts to these cars would be more economic than selling the entire car.
-
yes i think it will be sold for 5 grand. But WOW you know my job even. Bloody internet, none of our lives are safe anymore.. LOL But thanks for the compliment.
-
Haha yes thats definatley true. There is just something about thinking your getting a bargin where as in more cases than not you end up not getting a bargin. Will keep u posted on how the sale of this goes. Seven series are hard to sell. And seem so cheap in general for what they are. In my opionion they are far better than a ford or holden of the same price. NO offence for or holden lovers

the reason i ask is someone has offered me 5k for it tonight am just unsure. I dont worry myself on gas prices. Im a bit of a petrol head but love my luxuray cars. Although for 21 I get some unusual looks for owning a car like this. Do you think i should take the 5K and run. Then buy the 540 m

Yes I am joining the 540 club I think. A 2001 motorsport is kinda a hot car to be honest. Will be a fun car to ride in i feel

What do you guys think of this car? Am I asking a fair price? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=172700361

Hi people. I have almost traded my 1995 740i for a 2001 540i motorsport. Both cars as far as I know are stock standard etc. I am just wondering before I decide to fully go to the 540 motorsport model is there anything I should know. I really love the 740i I already have. Such a nice looking power unit that drives the best of any car I have ever driven, and it has 200+K on the clock but jut goes every time i use it. I drive alot of brand new cars every day and the 740i is by far still on top - its a credit to BMW. But will the 540i motorsport be like this. Also what should I watch out for with this model bla bla bla.... Any input would be awesome.

mate, you dont have to be 21 to apply, im only 21 myself. i say if your heart is in it do it. the only pre requisit is that you have less than 50 demerrit points, no criminal conictions, no driving related charges, b a nz resident and be over 18 and have a real passion to do it. if thats you your all good to go!

I was an officer in the navy. Now the military tests are easier than the police one. I was thinking about going to the police and passed all the tests to start and got accepted into the college but I bought a bussiness instead. But the written tests and stuff are a piece of piss to pass. for the personality test just be honest and answer in the context of what your job is going to be, ie. a police officer. the fitness test is just a grip test, easy. then is 30 pres ups and a run of 2.4km in 10 mins 54 seconds. for swimming all I can say is it is pretty straight forward but just go and practice. you need to float for 5 minutes. to me its not the easiest thing. If there is anything else just PM me I know what the whole thing is all about. Just out of interest how old r u?

Well if you look at the official WOF check sheet there is no area for a TV or any other thing there as to say distract the driver. I have my tv hooked up to a playstation and I have once in a traffic jam played Playstation while waiting, (was an accident). but I have reprogramed my tv unit and I can watch TV while driving and I also programed it to pick up and actually show the sky channels that I can recieve at times. Which is pretty cool. When I go get my WOF which was two weeks ago I showed him how the TV worked and he took it driving in the road test with it on. The person doing the check said to me that it was pretty cool. Also said that because it is a standard inbuilt feature that it is not against any law, although having it going while driving is frowned upon by police there isnt any law saying its banned. BUt he said that if you want to insert a tv unit that isnt a standard manufaturers built one at time of assembly there are certain law restrictions on that and one is being not being in direct view of the driver. So from that I see a little double standard but BMW is safe as all the tv units are just a standard feature of the car. Got to love NZ law.

Ok i am speaking from experience. I had a problem with my cat. Well i have two but one of them disintegrated and was causing my engine to stall/ ordered some new ones but would have been ten days before they come into the country. so i had my garage take both cats out and put a straight through pipe in and earth out the o2 sensors. But the car then was running rich, I mean super rich, i remember seeing on my screen read out 28L/100km. NOt good. It was the o2 sensors playing up. We rerouted them and it worked fine. We got around the problem by disconecting the MAF sensor(the car will then just run on the computer average from the previous 100,000 km) But by doing this alone we lost alot of power at low end but solved the fuel and rich problem. So we also disconected the backpressure line on the inlet manifold so to get more air at lower revs. This worked a jem. Now the sound from just having the straight through pipes was alright at idle, a definate lower pitch, and when just crusing at low speeds there was a pleasent low drone, not irritating by no means. But the downside was when i accelerated heavy it sounded like a bloody skyline cackling away. Was horrible!! Sounded so tinny and cheap. And for power to be honest I didnt notice any increase in power for acceleration, if anything i did notice that it changed gear more firm in the touque zone. But as soon as we got the cats back in when they arrived and hooked everything up it was fine. Cats shouldnt cause an issue at all. but like everything they do need to be replaced when they age, BIG deal really. If you want to free the exaust up by doing a simple mod you should look at doing the rear mufflers. I did this after the cat debarco. Didnt change the tips or anything as I like how the 740 conseals them but it sounds great, clean under acceleration and slightly more powerful and slightly cheaper to run. My advice if you cant afford new cats is to replace with free flow baffels (as i hate cackly sounds from cars). But be very carelull with the o2 sensors and get indapendant advice on this. BMW has so many electrical systems in place that when u mess with one it trowes the whole car out of kilter. Hope that helps
