  1. Yeah, Chorus are terrible. The work they do is great, very impressive, but the time frame and lack on contact sucked.

Im on the 30/10 plan, and this is what im getting ATM. Very good really. Would be interesting to see how close to 100 i'd get if i changed plan.

The product from Chorus (being consumed by your ISP) is a Layer 2 30/10M service.

You are performing a Layer 3+ speedtest, therefore taking into account the layer 3+ headers it is technically impossible to achieve a full 30/10M rate.

Just FYI :) and no it's not false advertising perhaps just poor expectation setting by ISP's.

  2. I usually only PM this, but it does pop up a bit :

This guy called Jimmy reads another forum I read, and I brought some stuff from him: Jimmy's Cables They work great, and he's helpful/knowledgable (Very much so, when you consider the low dollar value of the items). There's probably cheaper ones arouund, but Jimmy will help, standby his stuff.

I've also got this: BMW Scanner 1.4.0, but it's probably not as much use on a OBD1 car. SOmeone on Trademe is selling these for about NZ$125..... not the NZ$40 ish you can get them for. I ordered mine from this exact company with no issues.

Both theses tools have been invaluable for my facelift E39, and apparently you can use WINKFP to update DME software etc with Jimmy's cable, though I've never tried it. Yet. I need a cheap M54B30, then I can do it :-)

Have you got this working with DIS by any chance?

  3. Had - Potenza RFT all round.

Changed to - Conti non RFT all round + emergency seal kit.

MUCH quieter, more comfortable and IMO grippy. I'm not a race car driver so wouldn't necessarily listen to my opinion on performance but im happy with the noise reduction and comfort increase alone.

Having said this the ones that were on there were rather worn (i did about 10k on them).

    225/40/18

    255/35/18

  4. I have nothing against Good flappy paddle box's i actually quite like them ... but the early BMW ones (i.e. the ones in the E46's) are horrible sooo much lag and jerky as hell (at least the couple i've tried have been like this). Not to mention the cost if something goes wrong with it.

I would stay away solely based on the fact it's an SMG.

  5. Hi

    I have an 08 335i E91 arriving ex Japan

I am interested to Converting and upgrading idrive from 08 jap import to suit NZ and iPod/iPhone etc etc

I have seen some options on trademe, but these look confusing and expensive with various add ons etc

-can anyone point me in the right direction for a good system at a good price????

    Thanks

    HMM

first question are you running CCC (older) or CIC (newer) system?

CCC has idrive wheel + 1 or 2 buttons

CIC has idrive wheel surrounded by function buttons

  6. You dispute the fraudulent charge, and the it's the credit card company's problem.

I pay everything with my credit card. The consumer protection that goes with them is excellent.

You get robbed with cash good luck asking the bank for your money back.

What he said ... i use CC anywhere and everywhere i can. CC companies are generally good at identifying fraud, regardless they will reimburse you anyway!

  7. no offense but those photos aren't very helpful u need to step back and take 1 of everything where it should be.

from memory i believe its the silver box to the left of the amp ... you should be able to tell what by what box has coax antenna plugs going into it. there should be 2 of these 1 for radio 1 for tv, looking at the label with part number should help you decide which ... or just unplug antenna from one and see if you loose radio or tv.

  8. Worth noting that half the time its shitty house wiring thats the problem, or at least i have found for mine and a few others it has been anyway.

My house is a good example of this:

    i have 2x ADSL connections

1 modem is attached directly to the service lead that runs into the house from the street.

2 modem is attached to house wiring which then connects to the service lead (this is using a splitter not filters)

    1 12m down

    2 6.5m down

i know that its not an issue on the street because i've had both modems at the service lead to test and they both sync at the same rate.

  9. Is your sync rate slower than it was before you changed.

NO = if your throughput is slower this is likely due to a crappy contention ratio on the new ISP ... solution change ISP.

YES = then you have probably been moved off a cabinet and onto LLU equipment based at the exch ... solution bitch and moan for them to move you back onto the wholesale network so you feed from the cabinet.
