Hey guys I have posted this topic on here a number of times and have tried all of your suggestions and come up empty handed. So anyway i took a couple of days off work and decided id tackle this problem once and for all cos' im sick of having a wet interior. After pulling the entire dashboard out and sound deadening I have come across the leak in my firewall, turns out it is a broken rubbr bung that the bonnet release cable runs through. What the %&$@! All this work for that tiny little bung, thats rediculous. Anyway i thought id just vent on here instead of my car lol. Feel much better now and if anyone knows were to get a replacement bung (its the one that the bonnet release cable runs through to the engine bay) that would be a great help. Cheers

hey guys just wanting some help. starting yesterday my locks have been messing up. i cant unlock/lock my car from the drivers door or boot for some reason and when im driving along the car will randomly lock by itself. so im guessing the central locking motor is had it. any help would be great, thanks

Whats the normal idle range for a m20b20? Mine idles between 1500-2000 rpm when its heating up and when warm.

Hey guys just wanting to buy a new or good condition second hand windscreen wiper motor for a 1986 BMW 320i. Mine makes a horrible whirring noise when it goes and doesn't have an interval setting. I pulled it apart and it looks pretty shot. Any help would be great thanks. Cheers, Mike

Hey guys, so I was out for a "drive" last night lol and I ended up blowing my diff. I am looking for a new/second hand one or someone that can help me weld it up. I own a 1986 E30 M20B20 and have no idea what the ratio is but if anyone can help me that would be great. Thanks users, Mike.

hey guys i am about to undertake the replacement of my propeller shaft/drive shaft bearing. what i am wondering is if anyone on here knows how to do this and is it able to just be done in one day? or should i take it into a shop to get fixed? is it able to be done in your shed just with basic tools or do you need things like tourqe renches.etc? also if it is able to be done in your shed does anyone have any access to a DIY guide or something similar. Any help would be great, i have been putting this off for to long so now it is time for me to get it done. Thanks guys

I use 95. Its not detonation. I know that sound. Its a tinny sound thats y I thought it might just be a loose spring or something.

hey guys just wondering if anyone can help me. when accelerating under load (not in neutral) in between the rev range 1500-2000 there is a rattle in the engine bay. it goes away after 2000rpm and doesn't occur when i give it some guts. just wondering if this is anything to be worried about or if it could be a loose spring or bit of metal. thanks guys

Thanks guys but it isn't the hole under the battery. the rubber pipe has been removed before I had the car and the hole is clear. that was one of the first things I checked. if it is rust is there anyway to remove the fuse box to have a look? i can unscrew it but it still just sits there in the way. (whats a grommet also?)

Hi guys, for a while now my 1986 320i has had a leak that comes in through the passenger footwell. I think I have narrowed it down to the DME compartment filling up with water when it rains or when I wash my car then overflowing into the footwell. I need help because I can't actually find the DME compartment. I have a 101 Performance Projects book but it isn't very helpful as it only covers back untill 1988 and I think the car might have changed the location over those two years. So if anyone could help me with the location to this compartment that would be great or any other suggestions as to why there is water coming into that footwell. Thanks guys

hey guys my diff has started making a knocking and whining sound while driving. Is it r**ted? also i have found a whole rear setup (subframe, diff, disc brakes) on trademe for a 1990 E30 and was wondering if anyone had any idea if it will bolt straight into a 1986 E30? I am not to sure cos it has disc brakes on it and my E30 is currently running drum brakes. If it does just bolt up is there much work to be done to convert to discs from drums?

Is that the front windscreen? If so were are the drains located? someone mentioned to me about a drain from the sunroof but were is that? and were does it go?

I have the entire carpet and glovebox out and still cant find it. have had for a while to avoid smelly carpet. it only comes through on the passenger footwell and can leave a descent puddle there sometimes after it rains (2-3cms) this issue has been frustrating me for a long time and would love to get it sorted so i can put my carpet and interior back in. i have also checked the elephant tube or whatever its called but thats clear and theres nothing clogging the vents below the front windscreen.

hey guys I have a leaky bmw and I was just wondering if any1 knows how to pull the entire dashboard out of a E30 320i (1986). the leaks are coming from behind it somewere but i cant seem to find it so thought it might just be easier to pull the whole thing out. any help would be appreciated. Yeah ive got all the carpet and interior out except for the dash. did you have to take the dash out cos i still cant see a hole??? And were does the water from the sunroof drain 2?
