Have moved back to palmy so have been doing a little work on... Just little things like tidying up the way the fuel lines run, putting the new brake master cylinder in... just the boring stuff The drive shaft is away being made and the gearbox cross member has been measured up so hopefully should have both sorted very soon its slow progress but its still moving forward slowly Stock gearbox cross member

Its great that BMW are picking up the bill for the repair I wonder if thats an across the board approach to this issue or a one off sort of thing... Am strongly considering considering fitting the tunermotorsport kit befor much further work on my E46

After some playing last night and help from Jon... We had it running again on 5 then it died all of a sudden and wouldnt start again... We tried different plugs, dizzy cap and rotor If flooded to the point at one point where fuel was dripping out the afm :S

Starting to look rather likely that I need a new motor for my daily driver project Its an '85 E30 323i Cheers guys

They look ok but ya never just know do ya... And I dont fancy forking out the about $120 for a new dizzy cap only to find out theres something major wrong with it and really it needs a new engine Who knows lol Stranger things have been know to happen Any time next week would be wicked Im just about to take off back down to welly for the weekend... Yea was hoping that was the issue so tried another lead off something else and that didnt help... I am wondering if maybe the lead from the coil to the dizzy is a bit iffy maybe? but would need to borrow another one off someone to try it out

Hey guys Ive gone and brought myself an E30 and am having a hard time getting the thing to run properly... It kinda runs on 5 cylinders half the time and no has all of a sudden gone and lost all the spark and its just confusing the hell out of me... Its an 85 323i I was running ok except for number 5, seemed to have spark and fuel but wasnt running... Someone suggested that cause it had been sitting for a long time maybe the rings in that cylinder were a bit iffy and to pour a wee bit of oil down the bore and that should seal them and help with compression did that and now I seem to have no spark at all :S If anyone has some free time next week and is willing to come have a look, have a beer and shoot the sh*t for a bit any help would be wicked

If its anything like making the mounts for my 2JZ E46 the mounters were easy as to make once the motor was sitting in the hole... the big issue I ran into was having to notch the sump so there was enough firewall - cross member clearance but I would say you have more room then I do If your going to go down this path the main thing that stopped me using an RB/VQ was the sump design the 2JZ mid/rear sump is much better suited to the BMW

I wouldnt want to part with more then $500 for it really... Am thinking at worse case it would make a sub $2k skid car until my E46 is done

Yea it looks pretty rough but Ive taken written off cars and rebuilt them befor so it dont really scare me neither does having to do a bit of a paint job on it either as I want to test out the colour scheme that I plan on running on the E46 anyway At the end of the day Im looking at it as a E30 323i shell that goes and has live plates.... Unless someone else knows of something?

All I was after was something cheap, late model, front engine and rear wheel drive... so it ticked all the boxes... By time its driveable it would of cost only a few thousand more to build then the silvia it replaced

OMFG it lives... Engine has been wired up and once the fuel lines were connected around the right way she fired into life :D:D:D... Just needs a driveshaft now and radiator and it will be able to move under its own power

Brought some new feet for the beamer... 18x8 +20p Im told... Will see when they arrive
