  1. I believe Group N cams are the same except blue printed.
  2. Who knows about this: Group N spec: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-BMW-Motorsport-E36-M3-S50B30-Group-N-race-car-ECU-chip-set-Gr-N-Gruppe-N-/151238118732?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23367e8d4c On the face value it looks like a simple and cost effective extra few HP ? PS. Apples with oranges, this is a 3.2 post on Group N chip http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?759585-Dyno-comparison-Group-N-vs-Stock-Siemens-MSS50-DME-of-S50-B32
  3. Steve, from my predictive planning if it wasn't for you i would be the class winner! But I have accepted 2nd as being ok We are 'trying' to get the car to Rotorua to shake it down prior to south island. Fingers crossed.
  4. Question. Does anyone know if the US spec E36 M3 3.0 has the same mounting points/location/dimensions for the caliper mount as the eurpspec car? ie a BBK will be directly be transferable between the two versions of the car. ie We know their engine is different, we know they didn't get the EVO brake upgrade (they got solid front rotors), just makes me worry that their front brake mount location could be different?
  5. WTD E36 M3 Evo coupe Aluminium Doors Alu only please. PM me. thanks
  6. Placed this order on Turner Motorsport yesterday. Mostly reinforcement kits for common failure points. Will get this done alongside the cage install. E36 Fog Light Block-Off Cover Set (L&R Pair) E36 Front Subframe Reinforcement Kit E36, Z3 Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates (Pair) E36 Rear Sway Bar Reinforcement Kit E36, E46 Rear Shock Tower Mount Reinforcement Kit
  7. No de-cat option listed. See below. What's a de-cat for the ECU worth or better still a ECU tuned option with this included? In addition, is it worth going to a race exhaust or is that more bling than actual HP gains? ta for vehicle identification number: WBSBF92050EA66308 Model description: M3 Market: Europa Type: BF92 E-Code: E36 (2) Chassis: Coupé Steering: rechts Doors: 2 Engine: S50 - 3,00l (210kW) Drive: Heckantrieb Transmission: manuell Body Color: Arktissilber Metallic (309) Upholstery: (0470) Production date: 12.10.1993 Assembled in: Regensburg Code Sonderausstattung Optional Equipment S428A Warndreieck und Verbandstasche Warning triangle and first aid kit S440A Nichtraucherpaket non-smoker package S458A Sitzverstellung vorne elektrisch Electr. front seat adjustment S498A Kopfstützen im Fond mechanisch Headrests, rear, mechanically adjustable S530A Klimaanlage Air conditioning S548A Kilometertacho Kilometer-calibrated speedometer S554A Bordcomputer V mit Fernbedienung On-board computer V with remote control S676A HiFi Lautsprechersystem HiFi speaker system S687A Radiovorbereitung Radio preparation S710A M Lederlenkrad M leather steering wheel S806A Dritte Bremsleuchte Third stoplamp S818A Batteriehauptschalter Battery master switch S850A Zusätzl. 8. Fitted some new bonnet gas shocks, tick. Sick of the bonnet falling on my head. Have kept the old ones in case i get a light weight bonnet later. Installed some new rear rotors, BMW OEM. Weird, one side had these wires stuck of the vanes. lucky i spotted it!
  9. Looking at wheels now, as the BBK wont fit under the OEM's. Looking at these 17x8.5 : http://store.bimmerworld.com/apex-arc-8-bmw-e36-3-series-wheels-p1341.aspx or these 17x8: http://store.bimmerworld.com/team-dynamics-pro-race-12---17x8-e3646-p291.aspx Note: I prefer the look of the 18, but i need compression ability for bumpy roads.... I'm thinking Apex is my preference right now.
  10. I'm building M3 E36 Targa car and now thinking about the exhaust. Prior to buying a proper race exhaust, I'm wondering if a 'de-cat' on the OEM would provide some quick win benefits. Is there any cost effect bolt on decat pipes (as opposed to getting one fabricated) and is there any known material gains or negative issues (sensor tec) in this. let me know! thanks
  11. Was gonna keep the door cards, but I've heard they are heavy so probably best they also go. If thats the case, thoughts on the value of a 'kit' as described above? ie 2x front, rear (split folding head rests), front and rear door cards, centre arm rest. Its all 'top' condition. Separately, yip the hood lining is mint.
  12. thanks for that. I assume the rears are jack all by comparison. Anything else of value from a race car strip out ?
  13. I'm about to convert my mint 3.0 M3 133 kms NZ new into a targa rally car and have someone wanting the front seats (i guess the most valuable bit coming out). What's a fair value for the seats ?
  14. As the title says I'm building a E36 M3 3.0 into a Targa Tarmac Rally car. My history has been targa on and off for over 10 years, starting with a 4AGZE power AE86 and currently a stopgap DC2 Integra (R bits). I really wanted to get back into RWD, or even 4WD, but the reliability of the BMW RWD sold me on that path. Decided on the Pre EVO 3.0 M3 so I can compete in the 2000>3000 class, and avoid the grunters such as GT3's in the 3000>4000 class. The current plan is: > Car, purchased. NZ new 1993 with 133kms on it. A clean and tidy starting point - DONE. > Diff and LSD, Kaine Barry to tighten/ramp up and install a 3.91 - DONE > Gearbox, Kaine Barry to inspect and install a ~retainer strengthen (or something that sounded like that) - DONE > Clutch, Kaine Barry to install new competition clutch - DONE > Suspension. Chris from Suspension tech to install Bilsteins and new springs all around. Might do something better later. - DONE > Cage. Custom Cages FIA cage to be installed by Dan Slater. - DONE > Seats. Racetech 4009WHR or 4119 - DONE > Front brakes. Competition AP 4 pots on floating AP rotors (325x32 j hook) from Essex racing. - DONE > Rear brakes. AP Racing rear 4 pot kit on OEM rotor - DONE > ABS Disable - DONE > Rear Brake Bias Valve > Wheels, Apex ARC-8- DONE. > Geoff Steel carbon door cards - DONE > Z3 Quick Rack - DONE > Engine. Just a good tune and service. Dione > New OEM fuel filter - DONE > Vanos refresh. - DONE > New OEM Engine mounts > New OEM suspension front wishbones > New sundry suspension bushes - DONE > Rear adjustable control arms > Chip - Ordered > Super sprint race Exhaust. - DONE > Fire Systems. Ordered > Stilo Intercom - DONE > Camera system. TBA > X Brace DONE > Removable Steering Hub - DONE The key date driver here is targa south island. They have never done it before, and maybe never again. Ideally the car would be ~finished for targa rotten-rua so we can shake it down. Here is the donor. The wallet is shaking with fear.....
  15. USD$2600 for the core kit incl front brake line. ADD: 2x USD$250 for a 'extra' pair or spare rotors = USD$500 ADD: USD$109 rear brake line ADD: AP enduro pads $25 Total US$3235 = NZ$3809 I'm assuming plus gst If i cannot collect them when i'm in the USA soon, then Kiwi shipping from LA to NZ ADD NZ$255 For clarity, the rotors are AP rotors on cusom hats. Not rubbish ones. see: http://www.essexparts.com/12-81-x1-25-325mm-x-32mm-heavy-duty-70-vane-j-hook-right-hand.html Picture of core kit, excl the extra rotors, pads and rear brake line:
  16. Hi Steve, I think I briefly spoke to you on targa Sprint on Sunday. I had the integra (was winning my class until the alt belt broke!!), and mentioned that I have the e36 M3 3.0 build starting. To answer you question, the rotors are 325x32 The plan was to get the core kit, plus a pair of extra rotors. These look to be the best brakes I can find that will fit under 17's. ie proper competition calliper's (no boots, piston spring, anodized), and the rotors are AP floating on custom hats. Have not made my mind up on pads yet, but have traditionally run Pagid RS29's (yellow enduro pads). Note: Will probably have to run spacers until I get some wheel upgrades which support them. Thoughts? About to order them so looking for someone to find any floors in my strategy!
  17. Looking at these race brakes for my E36 targa car build. Can anyone fault the idea? http://www.essexparts.com/shop/complete-brake-systems/competition-brake-systems/essex-competition-brake-system-bmw-m3-e36-bundle.html

  19. What about those microfibre covered sponges? Opinion?
  20. What about watermarks? I get it allot. Naturally, drying the car with a microfibre towl makes a massive difference. I'm considering one of the 2x stage water filters for my outside tape. The first is a pure filter, the 2nd makes the water 'soft'. eg: http://www.autogeek.net/deluxe-filter-system.html Any experience here ?
  21. Smells a bit off. Especially as it was a turners auction car 2 sales ago. Wonder if it has mechanical issues?
  22. Looks like its back for sale, from the same dealer network, and at a much higher price than the $1 reserve auction sold it for. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-440921048.htm

    GT 86

Off topic slightly, this is my old AE86 tarmac rally car. Was a brilliant car. Any new version of the same concept will be a winner.
  24. What do you mean? Do they not sell E46 M3 rotors?
