  1. Have painted many rally cars and if there's one thing to remember it's "keep the colour simple". If the Kwaka green is on the current/new Ninjas i'd steer well clear for a rally car. Have you seen that colour up close? It's got so many Xralic pearls in it it's a complete bitch of a colour..

Let me know when ya getting close to getting it painted, i will do ya a killer deal in exchange for some space on the car. Alternatively i could do a 'cost of materials only' paint job for a larger bit of space.

  2. A little left field BUT, go and see Paul Hackett (or his old man Trevor) at C-Quip on Vesty drive Mt Wellington. They do super yacht stuff, all in CF.

When i was working there the foreman was a Swiss guy (can't for the life of me remember his name) who worked for Sauber, back when Sauber was the sole owner.

He along with a few other guys in the shop did a LOT of work (design & build) on the first batch of the TRS (Toyota Racing Series) cars. Trevor also had a hand in the design and build of the Hulme supercar (the original one, the BMW powered one)

Proud to say some of my handy work can be found on that car (ego much haha)

  3. I do wonder if you'd still need a special interest vehicle certificate to get this car re-registered. As it would need to go through compliance again and E46s no longer meet the emission or frontal impact rules. So that leaves Special Interest Vehicles.

No problem re complying it, has been "legal" in NZ once before so has reg' & WoF history. Frontal impact 'law' only effects new imports (i'm 99% sure)

  4. If ya were closer i'd be all over it mate. This is the one ya got from Nick right?

Just a wee O/T note for those interested, E28 doors DO fit the E12s. So if this has rusty doors ya can use E28 ones OR if your E28 has buggered doors this would be worth buying for that alone (dependant on the condition of the E12s doors of coarse)

  5. Aw, I was told as long as you have your licence plate visible and you have the bumper on (I was missing the plastic cover over the front that covers the actual bumper) it is allowed while its getting repaired??

Or is my boss just trying to get me a ticket??

He's havin' a chuckle on your behalf me thinks.

What ya have to do is think "what would happen if i hit a pedestrian with no front bar". Not allowed any sharp edges or protrusions.

  6. That pink one seems to have had a sh1t load of money thrown at it for paint.

It's a candy colour and anyone that knows anything about paint would know what kinda $s that would've cost to do.

Probably looking at 10k and up for that.

Whoever is selling it should do some homework on the paint.....i mean....wtf is this description. "fuchsia pink glitter pearl lustre"

Now laugh all ya want but to be honest i'd happily drive that.

  7. I know, I know... Owned by and built by, but they don't put the same badge on it for good reason!

Yeah, i wouldn't want to put my name on those BINI things either.

I'm a lover of the.......was going to say 'original' but there is only one "real" Mini, the one built from 1959 to 2000.

  8. Not a very nice way of getting into BMWs mate.

If it were me i'd get them both back on the road, i know it could be a long and maybe costly exercise but both cars "alive" will increase their value hugely.

Then decide which one you like the most. Neither are "common" so would be worth the hassle.

    My 0.2c .
