  1. I love derbies but they are getting expensive to enter now, good old humber hawk or something like that would be good do a few derbies in it then, or go jalopy racing for a few times first they have them in Wanganui. Depending on what gear you have but can set you back $6-800 time you get the car etc.

Most wreckers do a buy back deal one down the road from us does $400 sell to you price and they are at the speedway on the night and give you half an hour or so too take your roll bar out and they give you $250.00 back for it. Good luck with your search I got offered a 83 Charade but no thanks, Hyundai stellars are good, but 83-92 corolla's and ST170 corona's seem to have good crumple zones and win most of them.

yea a friend had an st170 i had my eye on but it went to the crusher a few weeks ago

i have all the seat and harness etc

  2. hey guys

hopefully me and a friend will be competing in smashfest 2011 on the 22nd of April

looking for any car(s) that runs and isn't a mini or a charade.

    preferably free or cheap

can pickup with a trailer so doesn't need wof or reg (taupo hams Auckland or surrounding areas preferably)

also if any wreckers etc feel like doing us cheap cars we will be happy to put your advertising all over it

if anyone has something or knows someone with a junker give me a text 02102745013

    thanks Jason

  3. To eliminate the noise go with 15w40, usually they would take 0w30

    BMW recommends Castrol ;)

    yea thats what i thought

the 15w50 would be close enough to 15w40 and abit better under load

at about $70 per 5l bottle its not cheap prob spend nearly $200 for fuel air oil filters and oil but at least it will be done right

  4. hey guys about to do an oil change on my 740i

its being driven for the most part relatively short distances and being taupo heading into winter will unfortunantly be running cold for much of the time

    its done just over 200kms

starting to get a slight tappet rattle from a couple of lifters

    been recommended penrite SYN15w50

    any other ideas

also when i do manage to drive longish distances i drive it pretty hard so needs good performance protection and good cold start protection

  5. change of job and house calls for a more practical car for the time being

so looks like im selling the 740i

    1994 740i

    4 liter quad cam v8

    arctic silver metallic

very clean car inside and out

immaculate black water buffalo leather interior , no rips or stains full electric seats

    very tidy body

factory upgrade 18" wheels still wearing BMW recommended Dunlop SP sport tires 225/40R18 front 255/40R18 rear

uprated Mintex sport brake pads, calipers painted red

Factory sport Electronic damper control still working perfect no leaks

front tension strut (lower suspension arm) bushes replaced these are a weak point that causes floaty handling

    turns like its on rails.

rocker covers repainted in VHT wrinkle finish black to replace the ugly factory flaking gold paint

    gearbox shifts very smoothly.

    no electrical faults

    tool kit still 100% complete

    brand new battery

    factory tow bar

only failure is the aircon is out of gas, cool car air conditioning quoted the fill valve was leaking repair cost ~ $10 plus regassing so approx $200

great car to drive beautiful to cruise long distance in, but flick the sport button and the suspension stiffens the throttle response tightens and the gearbox poises itself to rocket you through tight corners and flying straights in the way a true sport car should.

will update with better photos and more details tomorrow

  6. REPCO?!?!??!?

    REPCO?!?!?!?!

    actually supercheap auto

finally gave it a wash yesterday and its come up pretty well

you can still see all the microscopic scratchs from the buffing so i need to go over it with scratch and swirl remover to bring it up really nicely
