  1. sealed lead acid batterys

hey guys i recently bought a 1900 amp jump starter that had a broken switch i couldnt be bother fixing it so am now selling the batterys out of it it has two sealed ead acid batterys in it

they are 12v 19 amp/hour (will add more stats later)

will probably keep one for my race car but will sell the other will easily start race car as the pair together are designed for large diesel engines and last quite along time just cranking

about half the size and weight of a small jap battery

    normally $130 at supercheapauto

will sell for $80 as never really been used

  2. I havnt poured fresh oil onto my garage floor via the engine...yet... the day will come where i forget to put the plug back in

funniest experiance i had was my father and i swaped the engine in my sisters mazda astina

long story short i was under the car tightening the exhaust bolts while my father filled the engine with oil unfortunantly he didnt put the distributor back in so of the four litres of oil he poured in three ended up on me

i had the distinct smell of eau de castrol gtx for about three days

  3. Good luck with the sale. Just sold my one and was surprised at the interest, was fairly cheap though.

Don't think i agree with "...over 300hp at the wheels" though :lol

whoops meant to say 300hp not at the wheels

    consider it edited

did you sell yours on trade me

  4. Just thought I would put a plug in here. Ben has just done an E32 for a customer. Excellent job and very, very reasonably priced.

    Email: benstrim@hotmail.com

do you know how much it would be for a new headliner for an e32

would this be for them completly doing the job or require me taking the headliner out and re installing

    thanks jason

  5. most imfamous bit of driving i saw last year at waikato uni was a young asian guy in a high end wrx managed to get up enough speed in the university car park (packed with cars and a 10km speed limit) that when he clobbered an island on his way out he rolled it twice through a fence and someones backyard then proceded to get out of the car and wander off lol

ps good luck driving a bmw with 20's

if you drive an average or crap car in hamilton noone will let you in in traffic or give way to you

but if you drive a nice beemer or similar people will go out of their way to cut you off or keep you out of traffic then pull them fancy gangsta signs at you

...maybe the 750iL will get a gun rack installed this year

  6. I'm no leech. I hate it when people judge people on these forums. FFS. It's a forum. Alright.

I've been supporting myself for the last two years, paying for my petrol, hardly was at home cos I'd be at school then working 20-30hr weeks at my old part-time job. I hardly ever ate at home. I bought my own clothes.

So I'm sorry if you have been mistaken or mislead, but I think I deserve to be supported by my parents for just 12 weeks.

    Thanks.

if that story is true it sounds like you already have the surviving on a budget thing sorted

p.s. deserving something and getting something are completly different things that rarely overlap

  7. as a side note to anyone going to university

unless you are rich dont bother trying to make your car stand out at the uiversity

its near impossible, everyman and his dog have usuall mods of big muffler bodykit big wheels etc

and then the only real stand out cars are owned by the rich exchange students and you would be looking at mega bux to get any car up to their standard

  8. Definitely, selling the car would help... before i built my racecar i'd never owned anything close to $7k, when i went to tech last year i only had a shitter so i couldn't downgrade to pay costs..... so you've got a mega headstart already.... (get an old e30... you know you want to :P)

cant beat the economy on a 12 valve telstar

  9. Alright. I'm off to Uni next month.

I don't know how I'll live off one hundred and something dollars a week, considering my rent in H-town will be $100 a week...plus power and food.

Parent's will most likely give me a Caltex card to use because they love me.

But there is no way I can possibly live like that (even for 12 or so weeks), cos I have champayne taste in clothes and dinner's out.

But...I wanna know...if I got a part-time job, is there a limit of how much money I can earn? Cos study-link watch you right??

I got told I can get done for fraud if I earned about $200 a week and had it put into another bank account (like a family member's).

    Any help??

    Thanks!

if you get a part time job i think you can earn approx $175 post tax after this they take off soemthiong like 40 cents to the dollar so if you earned $20 above that level they will take $8 off your student allowance

a couple of tips #1 they dont monitor how much you earn each week they just calculate if you have over earned at the end of the financial year (may) and then send you a bill for any extra student allowance (same way as what they do with a unemployment benafit)

second tip is that as a student you get a tax rebate at the end of the financial year which will far outweigh and bill you will get from them

as far as surviving financially in hams

dont bother finding expensive clothes to use for going out to town as almost every day thats any good to go out in hamilton is accompanied by a theme of dress so flash clothes are useless

get out of the habit of fancy food its all crap in hams anyway

and lastly get two sets of lock nuts and full insurance people round here just love chromies

P.S. i would check what i told you with studylink as they have made big changes since john key used it to buy the student vote so i dont know if it will work different to last year

  10. hey guys

due to the large cost of moving into a unfurnished flat at university that i didnt prepare for i am now reluctently selling my pride and joy

    its a 1992 bmw 750iL

done 175000 km (approx will confirm later)

    5 liter v12 engine

all grey leather interior (no tears)

    very good condition interior

azur blue metallic body absolutly no rust has been professionally repainted at some stage

this is the luxury model with all the extras

high end blaupunkt stereo with factory 10 channel amplifier and more speakers i can count still makes high quality sound with little distortion and good bass

the common failures on these cars are failure of the on board computer, heater and fan control, rear suspension failure, from bush failures , and broken seat backs this car has none of these problems

since i bought it i have done almost all the maintanence needed including a oil and filter change air filter change coolent flush with new antifreeze , fuel system cleaner headlights replaced with higher quality xenon bulbs and due to a small leak i replaced the heater control valve and the adjoining hoses i took this oppertunity to check all the hoses and replaced any that were getting on in life all products used were the best i could buy for it i.e. all filters high flow fram products , oil and coolent were all the best quality available

the catalytic converters have been professionally removed due to being blocked up this has improved performance and fuel economy greatly

i recently drove to palmerston north and back and using the on board computer fuel consumption calculator it got 9.2 km/litre of fuel on the open road , driving in traffic to work it normally gets around 6.5-7.5km/litre

this car is packed with endless features that will keep anyone entertained

attatched are pictures i recieved when purchasing the car 5 months ago

it looks much better now, especially the engine bay due to full detailing

i will load up new photos in the next couple of days

it will be loaded onto trade me in the next couple of days also

it will also be loaded onto trademe within the next few days

feel free to email me on here or text me 02102745013

  11. Hi

After watching the demo derby at baypark last night, me and a couple of mates are trying to sort out cars for the next one on March 7.

I know it's a long shot but if anyone has a POS they want gone, I'd be interested. Doesn't really matter what make of car as long as it runs (or wont take too much to get running... because I'm pretty mechanically retarded).

Looking for something under 200 bucks, preferably less.

    Thanks.

my sisters nissan pulsar was set on fire on christmas night

the insurance assesors finaly came last week and checked it out

its being taken away sometime this week and will presumably go through turners damaged car auctions next tuesday or the tuesday after

the interior is gutted but its otherwise really good still runs has 1.5 carb manual passed warrent 4 days before its demise so everything works

i will post back and confirm when its getting sold

it should go for around $50-$100

i was going to buy it and demo it but im already on thin ice with my parents after buying a 750iL

as a side note after being at the derby big ups to the guy in the 730iL that blew the diff but still managed to have it revving at the red line for 15 mins with no radiator before it blew up

likewise to the guy who took a rb20det r32 skyline into the caravan race although he only made it half a lap before it blew up lol
