  1. Travel about 8kms from house to work - at about 50kmp/h most of the way. I'd say the amount of yellow stuff is little to average - it only seems to be around the cap/top surrounding. Stuck finger inside and scraped along the top - only got a little bit of yellow. I can see globules of water on the yellow. Quickly dropped into Coombes Johnston BMW in Tauranga about 20 minutes ago and had a guy there have a quick look - he stuck his finger in the oil, smudged the stuff between his fingers, said that he's not too worried about the water (something about the model?) but more concerned about the colour of the yellow stuff. Asked me if different types of oils went in, said I had only put Penrite 10w40 in. He recommended an oil change. What's the verdict??
  2. Hi Glenn, I've noticed no change in startup and running of the vehicle. Starts immediately, idle is stable and everything else appear normal. Haven't checked the water lately to see if it's gone down so will do that as soon as I finish work. What would cause the moisture? Anything else I should check to give you a better idea?
  3. Thank you for your reponses. I got the car serviced by BM Autobahn in Mt Maunganui a year ago and quite a bit was done on the maintenance since the previous owner never took it to a BMW specialist. I've only done 9k's on it since then, but friend said probably worthwhile doing the oil again after spotting grainy oil. It appears however if I rub it between my fingers the grain becomes smooth. Also noticed, after putting the fully synthetic in, that there was a yellow substance forming around the cap. Reading up it appears that it's most likely oxidation caused by the short trips to work during cold weather. Is there a particular brand of 15w40 semi synthetic oil you'd recommend?
  4. Good Morning Gentlemen, Car: BMW 330Ci E46 (year 2000), M54 engine, with 193000kms on the clock. I had a conversation with someone who said that for a car this many kms he wouldn't recommend a fully synthetic oil, but instead either a mix or only fossil. I only just bought some Penrite 10w-40 fully synthetic which cost about $80! :banghead: Also noticed when I put the oil in there was some grainy oil on the cap - the dipstick was fine. So either tonight or tomorrow I want to do a complete oil flush, oil filter and put in whatever oil you experienced folk can recommend. So, what I would like to find out is the best off the shelf (Repco?) products for: Best/good oil for M54 with 193000kms on the clock (presumably I'll need two x 5 litres since diy site states about 6.5 quarts) Oil filter Engine oil flush I'll be using the instructions from my330i.com. Much appreciated!
  5. Hi Glenn, Estimate on cost for one of these motors and how long will it take someone that knows what they're doing to replace the faulty one? Thank you
  6. Hi there! Model: 330Ci Year: 2000 (E46) Chassis: JU70446 Problem: Since about a week ago my driver side door lock doesn't lift up anymore when I use the remote to unlock the car so I have to use the keys to get it to lift up. Passenger side is still fine and both sides still lock with the remote, just unlocking for driver side that doesn't work. I've checked the three fuses according to the fuse card and they are still good. Where do I start?? Thank you!
  7. Hi Glenn, Thanks for getting the prices, I'll get back to you in the near future. Just need to get a couple of tyres sorted first which I wasn't prepared for. Regards
  8. Daamnn... they don't come cheap, do they? Ok, have you still got my details or did you want me to PM it through to you again? Please let me know the total + shipping. Not urgent, so cheaper shipping the better. Also, you don't have 32mm lock bolts for wheels by any chance? Thanks again
  9. Hmm, just checked mine and they appear to be "slightly" longer than 32mm.. maybe about 34mm? So I guess I'm after the same ones as you guys. Don't want to buy from an international website, just local plz! Thank you
  10. Hi, I'm after a couple of clips for my sunroof panel. One has still got both of the plastic bits that guides it as it's sliding however it's eventually going to epic fail. The other clip is completely useless. E46, 330Ci (year 2000) - Chassis: ju70446 Did I forget anything? Thank you!
  11. Hi ya, I've got some new wheels on their way and wanted to find out if anyone know if these are good quality lock nuts: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-198921643.htm Anyone else got ones they want to sell? I'm looking for quality ones that won't get rounded or seize - any recommendations? Thank you
  12. Excellent thanks, I'll wait for your PM.
  13. Sorry, updated my profile to show Tauranga. Based on a quick Google it seems my best bet is "Coombes Johnston BMW" located at 113 Hewletts Road, Mt Maunganui. http://www.bmw.co.nz/view/locate-a-dealer/...--tauranga.aspx Thanks for your help, I'll ask them.
  14. My funds are depleted so it's good to find out these are so cheap. (Just bought 18" M3 wheels with Eagle F1's) Just to confirm, JC = Jaycar Electronics? Thanks
  15. Hi! Noticed the panel was slightly loose a while back and then driving back home today it just fell off. Appears all 5 the plastic clips are just breaking apart.. I guess this would happen if the car stood out in the sun all day. It's clip number 20 on this website: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=51&fg=30 Please tell me they are cheap and readily available! Thanks
  16. Aloha! Looking for both front bushes since mine is completely destroyed according to tyre shop. It's for E46 (330Ci, year 2000). I'm in Tauranga, please let me know shipping costs. I'm just shopping around for the best price at the moment. Thank you!
  17. Hi Ray, Whats your price on 2 front bushes for E46 (330Ci, year 2000)? Took it to tyre place today for wheel alignment and they said the bushes are completely worn and don't know how the car managed to pass a WOF. I'm located in Tauranga, do you ship out? Thank you
  18. Awesome, thanks for that Laurence With my AC Schnitzer kit, since it came like that from the floor as options, I'm all good then?
  19. Awesome! Exactly the replies I was hoping for Thank you!
  20. With my Altezza I was with Aon NZ - even after turning 25 they were still charging me about $74 a month. Since my swap to the 330Ci (many AC Schnitzer options) I moved to AMI and they are charging me about $48 a month (only insured for $13k but going to up it to valued $18k - will only cost me $4 a month more). I'm still 25 now. When they asked me for mods I said none, it's all factory. Edit: Another cool thing with AMI is that I've currently got 60% no claims bonus, if I maintain this until September I will score 3 claims a year without it affecting my no claims - don't ask me how it works. Will probably have to research it a bit more before I get too comfortable with that idea.
  21. Ouch! Sorry to see what happened. Very good of the neighbours to tell you about what happened. I posted a few weeks ago when someone left a big white paint mark on the back corner of my 330Ci (that I had on my name for less than 24 hours). It happened right in front of Noel Lemming at Bayfair (Mt Manganui) and there were no cameras in the parking lot. I'm tempted to become one of those dicks that take up two car parks just to prevent people from opening their doors against mine. Although I reckon people will then go out of their way to damage the car. Instead, I just follow the good advise suggested to me by finding an open spot far away. I need the exercise anyways!
  22. Guten Tag, Has anyone had any work or servicing done on their BMW at BM Autobahn in Mt Manganui? They are independent BMW specialists. I'm wanting to take my car in for a decent inspection/service but want to make sure they are good first. Any other recommendations for BMW workshops in the Tauranga/Mt Manganui area? Thanks!
  23. Hi! Thanks for your input. I have indeed made the swap - the traction and obviously performance in the BMW is just so much more than what the Altezza could provide. I'm not making use of all the little features yet (e.g. memory settings for seats) but enjoy little things like being able to open windows with my remote especially with the car baking in the sun while I'm at work. The car's going for a wheel alignment on Monday and to check out an issue with the braking. I don't know if it's the brake disc (limited knowledge about cars) but it's like it brakes, then relaxes, then brakes etc (everyone in the car can feel it) until the car stops. It feels like something is bent because the delay in brake/relax increases as the car slows down - if I went 100km/h and lightly applied brakes it almost feels like ABS studder. Also, my oil light stays on for about 10-20 seconds when I start the car and then goes off. Have checked oil levels and they are inside the boundaries. Normal? When I initially looked through the service history, I thought I saw the water pump was replaced bout 6 months ago. Will have to work through them again. After that I'll schedule it for a service. Anyone have experience dealing with BM Autobahn Limited in Mt Manganui??
