Hello I finally saw the new 6er in the flesh. It was on display in Pauanui along with a Z4 (not sure why really). Here are the pics of it I took.

Your car is reasonably distinctive, and also I'm sure the witness would have remembered your number plate (again distinctive).Cheers

How on earth did this thread get from being about a routine investigation into the terrible assault of a defenseless elderly person, to a thread on whether or not the NZ Police are "too big for their boots". Lets keep this in perspective. I'm sure that everyone who has a red E30, and fit the profile of who the Police are looking for will be questioned, and fair enough too. I'm sure Andrew (and anyone else who may have been questioned) were more than happy to be questioned, and also more than happy to help out. Lets hope that the low lives who did this are caught, and get what they deserve. Cheers

Mine is slowly falling to bits, and slowly disappearing anyway, I have thought about removing it and replacing it with foil tape, or just fully replacing it with a new one (should they be available at a reasonable price). Cheers

Hello I must have been in Auckland long enough to be considered an Auckland driver. This morning I got stopped for running a red light (which I fully admit to doing). I took the risk when it was orange, and it turned red as I was going through, so I deserved the ticket. It is a good revenue gathering exercise though, as while I was stopped and was being given the ticket, they also had about 6 or 7 other people stopped too, all getting tickets for the same thing. At $150 a pop, I say it was a profitable morning for the NZ Police. I would like to know how many people got tickets in this exercise (along with the no WOF's, regos etc that were picked up at the same time). Never mind, I took the risk, and paid the price. Cheers

As Andrew said, go to a BMW Service Department and get it plugged into a diagnostic computer, it sounds like yours could be one of a number of things such as: 1) Leaking Injectors 2) Vacuum Leak 3) Stuffed ICV. 4) ... The diagnostic computer should pinpoint straight away what the problem is. Cheers

I think mine was solely due to me pumping the gas pedal a little bit when starting the car. I have made an effort to remember not to do this lately and the idle has been as good as gold (touch wood). Cheers

Yup, I was thinking make sure the diff is bolted on tightly. Also, it may sound silly, but have you checked your wheel nuts, and that they are done up tightly? Are there any strange and unusual noises when this happens? Is the car tracking normally when driving in a straight line on a smooth road? Good luck

Grant, there is a bit of vacant land at Basque Park. Could that not be converted in to a landing strip? Now, that is good thinking, I'll just ring the Council and see what they think.
