as topic, those steeam train noise goes faster as the car goes faster it happens on straight, and it gets worse on right sweeper turns (it also send slight vibration through the seats as well!) But it gets better on left sweepers turns (almost gone completly silent) What could that be? I had 4 new tyres already. I heard from overseas forums that it could be wheel bearings, if that's the case, how hard/much is it to replace it? I am not good at DIYing this, can anyone recomend a place that would do a good job that I don't need to rob a bank to pay for it??

Is there any place in Auckland that will do a good job on them?Any idea on price?? Do they need cert? Doors are kinda "structural" thing isn't it??
-
is it me or is it the photo? It looks like the front is wider than the back.

Those hinge looks horrible..... and seems pretty dinky for a BMW door. oh well, can't do that on mine anyway, e36 Coupe got no window frame..... although I don't mind a proper Lambo-style scissors door though.

as topic, what do we need to look out for when buying a helmet? Is second hands ok? How to check if they are safe? What style is needed for the track? (They won't allow bicycle helmet right? What about those hard-hat style (harley davidson or construction site style)???

That would be a complete strip down, door card, trims, interior, insulations, most things in the wngine bay, lights, door handles, everything~~If you want a throughout colour change, that would be the one to go. But if just after a same colour repaint, should be around 3-4G depending on how much prep work need to be done.

Nice car~ I liked your exhaust, what brand/model is it?

I once heard Silicon will gradually break down rubber. Any true of that?I also heard it's best to use Hydro-carbon based product on rubber as they "lubricate" them. Any true of that?

I saw there's a fan on the engine, there also another one on the radiator. What does the fan on the engine do? Does it act sort of like a flywheel? But mine's an automatic (don't laugh!!) Does Flywheel in Manual = Torque Converter in Auto?? Can I remove it so it rev-up a bit quicker? While on that topic, what's a good way to increase low end response & torque for a BMW? I've got a K&N panel already. I want to stick with Natual Aspirated, no NOS please.

I can't even imagine people putting 22" Rims and tyres on their SUVs.....I wonder how much are one of those tyres cost? Truck and Bus are only on 22.5" rims.... I suppose those last longer than 10000km Might as well put truck tyres on a SUV (yeh, I know they don't fit.... Just saying...)

Can you please elaborate more on the Clumsy OS ..can you explain more about the os please .. Sorry, my bad.... a bit mixed up with other things~The OS is quite ok actually. I used the Telecom Harrier before (which is same as iMate PDA2k). Quite easy to get around things but Jam has a smaller screen though. Does the Jam still has Pocket Excel and Word? 1 thing I worry about the Jam is the size and the screen is so exposed. Being a touch screen, they could get damage easily.

Just saw a dark green HiLux for unmark speed camera car. (Typical Tradesman Van with a hard-top canope on the back) Parked on College Road, Remuera for most of the afternoon

There's a few WRX Cop cars down in South Island I think. Saw them in WRC NZ 2003 specially brought up as pace cars. Man, they suck at drifting.

25K .. is that supposed to be good milage on a set of tires ??Cause i've done 24K and i'm not even half way through them ... and i'm not easy on them ... That's on a compariative scale. Different ppl have different driving style and tyre size which has some effect on the wear too.

There was that giant UFO hoving pass and they used their electro-magnet to suck the car up in mid-air.....Then they use they used their laser vision to brain washed the groomer so he doesn't remember a thing~~ Seriously, how did that happen?? :pimp:

I wouldn't mind having that engine in my car~ hahaha~ Perhaps the wheels too~~ I'll take the mirror as well thanks~! ...................................................................................... Which delaership is this? Jerrys? McMillan?

iMate make pretty good phone, the OS is a bit clumsy though. Sure, it look like Windows. But a lot of the things are actually quite different. Also, it's a PDA/phone but more towards a PDA Screen size like that usually means crap battery life, get a car charger! If you want to pay that much money, why not look at some other PDA phones (more of a phone than PDA)? Sony Ericsson P910 (should be around 1 grand) Sony Ericsson P900 (should be around $800) or maybe these.... (these are not touch screen though) Siemans SX1 (special @digital monbile at $800 for 2) Nokia 6630 (should be under 1 grand, with 1.3 megapixel camera) Nokia 9500, 9300 (full keyboard, around 1 grand)

There's G-III and MY01 to choose from~G-III is a lot better than G-II IMO much quieter, longer milage 20000km vs 25000km (real figures, as I used both) MY01, stilll very new. The Firestone guy I talked to say they are poor-man's G-III They are for the boy-racers that used all the money on mods and lowering and can't get warranty due to worn tyres; Yet want some decent tyres so they don't fly off a cliff. MY01 is not as good as the G-III (it's only 10-15% cheaper), but G-III has a lot more technology built into the tyre and last a bit longer. G-III is on special at the moment I think.

I heard Australia have highway patrol towing a motor home on the back dashing around the motorway to catch speeders. Just wondering, if the law say you can't go over 80kmh (is it 90 under the new law?) while towing something, isn't the cops violating the law themselves? Maybe we should call the cops on the cops.....
-
I couldn't agree with you more about stupid cameras at stupid places. But to the cops, you are still speeding.

The only way to increase brightness (i.e. to shine the light further) is to upgrade the light either by using higher wattage bulbs or change to HID (proper ones with high voltage ballast, not the cheap blue-tinted bulb).LTSA has just declared HID upgrade illegal. The only way to get HID is to get a proper retrofitting. For e46, you will need the factory HID housing plus your favourite ballast + HID bulbs combo. For e36, you will at least need a ellipsoid (projector style) headlamp lens. Check with LTSA before you actually buying them as they seem to change their mind all the time. High wattage bulbs is not recommended as they tend to draw higher current, make more heat, melt your wiring/housing/insulation, make your headlamp lens yellowish. Artic Blues are only meant for whiter apperance, it does nothing to shine the light further.

They could be snipers, you should bring your machine gun instead.

Nice car man.... liked your mags! Sorry, I don't mean to spoil your fun. I thought LTSA has declared all Xenon/HID upgrade is illegal. Can you share with us how you get your WOF next time round? I am keen on HID upgrade too, but got held up by the LTSA's recent ruling.
