So the numbers and whereabouts of the 14 no. evo sedans has been pretty well covered but how about the rest of the E36 M3s? I'm curious to know the approximate number of M3 coupes in NZ. Does anyone have any information on this?

From what I can gather, there are currently 17 NZ new 3.2 Coupes, and a couple of imports. Older cars, say pre 2000's are harder to define due to the original data entry.

Yup, people keep trotting out the same stories - all UK cars are rusty because of salt, all Singapore have electrical issues, all Japanese have been stuck in traffic all their life, etc. etc.

Treat every car on it's merits, check for known issues, every car / owner / history is different. Take the car for how it actually is, not how all the sooth sayers on the Internets suggest it will be.

As for NZ New being a bonus hmm, not so sure on that one.

Importing a car from the UK could be an issue with rust compliance, but once its here and been through compliance it should be fine. Only small things like MPH speedos can be a pain.

  3. Its a white UK import F10 M5, the lady driver (not her car) rolled down the drive way - knocking her over and ending up in the trees below the driveway. It wasn't  on Napier Hill, it was out in Taradale.

I'd still take the 1M for it rarity. Its not "mass produced" and despite the bitching, imo its a special car that was built specifically to be fun. I still think its an M car, because its been tweaked to be better than any standard model, has a bunch of "one off" parts exclusive to it, and has a limited production run.

    6,342 1M's isn't exactly rare.

I've only seen 2 manual F80's ever.  And that's in the US where the F80 is quite common.

Hmm and now that I think about it i'm not sure if I am remembering manual M2's and not M3's.

There is a number of M2 manuals in NZ I believe. As for F8 M3 manuals, Ive seen a few for sale in OZ and the UK.
