i need to rip out and replace my ignition barrel on my e30. ive disconnected all the wires etc but cannot get it off the steering colum. there appears to be a metal spike/pin that goes up through the bottom to secure it in place. is there any way of removing this without drilling it? i want to keep it in one piece so i can use it on the replacement. thanks......

so i cruised in to repco today and brought a boss kit for my 90 e30. the chick checked the book and came back with a boss kit that is meant to fit bmws from 83 to 90, i i brought it and went home to chuck it on. the thing is it doesnt fit. the teeth on the boss kit dont reach the teeth on the steering colum as part of the ignition barrel is in the way. ive rung them back and all they suggest is trying a different model that is for 91 onwards. whats the go with this? is a 1990 model different from others?

ive still got problems with my 90 320i coupe. last weeked i replaced the alternator and battery and the car was running and starting mint. i went out of town for the week in my other car and left the biimer at home, got back friday night because i was getting an alarm installed on saturday morning. went to unlock it and the central locking was not working which i presume means the battery is flat so i could not get in and had to cancel the alarm install. this morning i thought i would try and unlock it and i ended up breaking the key ( my only key ) in the lock. so to sum up. im locked out of my car, i broke the key in the lock, the battery is being drained somehow. ive sussed out a full set of locks including the drivers door, passenger door, boot, ignition and master key. but obviously before i can tackle putting the locks in i first need to get into the car. anyone got any ideas on how to get in with no key? thanks..........

so im soon going to be on the hunt for some wheels for my e30 since i have sold the chromies it came with. anyone know of any half decent looking aftermarket wheels for e30's? im talking dished, flat-faced goodness. what wheels have people got on their e30's? i need inspiration, please help. thanks

i was scrolling through the e30network pages and came across an article about making your fan run on high at the flick of a switch http://www.bmwe30.net/cgi-bin/datacgi/data...38&Section= i was wondering what the pro's and con's would be and if anyone on here has done it and what their experiences are with it thanks

all fixed. i cleaned all the connections etc and now she goes.

yeah im stoked, it wasnt as hard as i first thought. took off the air box, undid the alternator and replaced everything. easy. thanks for everyones help. nick

all fixed. replaced the alternator today and put in a fresh battery and she fired straight up. i took it for a run and everything seems fine. im going out of town for a week and will try it again when i get back, hopefully it will fire straight up.

need help with plug. 1990 320i coupe. while mucking aroung with my central lock unit in the drivers footwell i noticed there are are few plugs in there not plugged into anything. one is black and about 3cms by 3cms. and there are two smaller white ones. what are these for and what do they plug into? thanks

i picked up and alternator from a chick out mt wellington who has a stack load of e30 parts, i would say if it came out on a e30 she has it. anyway it says it is 14v 80a. will try and chuck it on tomorrow and see if its right

wondering if bmw alternator have part numbers on them so i can make sure i get the right one. its for a 1990 320i coupe. need to know before 6.30 tonight if possible

how much would a set of 16" e30 acs run me? apporx?

i have just purchased another alternator and am going to try and pull out the old and put in the new one myself. will let you guys know how i go.

after an e30 altenator for a 90 320i coupe. must be in excellant working condition. cheap as possible. auckland thanks

ok, so i got a moble mechanic / auto sparky out this morning and he came to the conclusion that the altenator is knackered. so now i need to track down an altenator. if anyone has one that wouuld be great. its a 90 320i coupe. thanks

so i plugged it in and the central locking still doesnt work. but i did notice another big black plug and a couple of smaller white ones that are not plugged in to anything, does this have anything to do with the central locking? if not what are they for?
