It wont start. For e36's you can turn the key and push the button to reset the odometer and the gauges will do a full sweep.

Looks like he has welded that cover shut??? How are you supposed to replace your blower motor or window wiper motor? You could put a hole in the original cover and put the wires thru there with a rubber grommet. And then thru the firewall into the cabin with a rubber grommet. Edit: This was the image I was after: I would change the radiator to a m42 style to get rid of the resovoir.

Oh IIRC theres a handy hole next to the fusebox that goes thru there.

I have started mine aswell. But I am keen to leave the fuse box where it is, but just hide the rest of the wiring. Getting rid of all that crappy fabric tape the wiring is covered with and replacing it with heatshrink, (braid would look nice, but its a bitch to clean). Washer bottle is going in the boot. All brackets etc have been cut off. I have m42(same as 318m40) wire covers, but I reckon I can get the wiring loom down to much less when I go standalone ECU and be able to hide it easier and get rid of the covers.

You can peel it off and use it again. It dosent use an adhesive. So you can just peel it off if a WOF inspector has a cry.
