Yeah absolutely standard. I probably paid too much, the guy was a collector and wasnt giving it up for anything less than what I paid. You can get them in good nick from tidy organised people - they sell them for dirt cheap not knowing how much they actually go for. Just keep your ear to the floor on TradeMe.

Mine cost me $5800 but it has 65,000ks on the clock and its mint inside and out. You could get one for under $3k in good nick surely?

He's essentially changed his entire brake assembly with new bits. Don't think it would be that.

Is it possible to change the entire cluster on my 316i (with poverty pack dash cluster clock) to a 320i cluster and have a functioning rev gauge (including taking my km counter over)? Its nice knowing the time and all but i'd rather know my RPM..

Basically the idea is, IS lip and E90 drop hats, then I'm happy with the ride height and look.

How much for the gearknob, brake fluid reservoir cap and dash cluster? Where are you based?

Yeah I've heard mixed things about doing it. I just put brand new super low springs in it, I like the ride height, I just think it could be a tad lower in the front. Any idea whether its a huge process putting them in? I don't mind investing in the drop hats even just as an experiment. If it rubs or grinds then I can always put the standard hats back in.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply! Any idea what sort of cost would be involved in dropping in say a 2.5 6 cyl from a 325i? I understand the cost would be a lot more than just buying a 325i but I really couldn't pass up on the condition of this shell. As I said it would be an engine stand build so I can chip away at it as I go, which I figured would also offset the cost a fair bit over time.

Haha always an option but I think it could do with going a bit lower overall. Its jacked as f*** in the front.

I dunno really I was just planning on adding to it as I went. I want something mid range in power and nothing that needs to much modification to fit. Not really sure what a realistic budget would be. (Just to be slightly vague lol)

Looks nice. I ended up going with Superlow 45mm drop springs, 16x8s with 195/50/16s. Needs moar low..

So I've been thinking about the best engine transplant to do to my E30 - I'm still relatively new to BMWs and the best options when it comes to engine and drivetrain. What would a good viable option? Currently running a 1600cc 4 cyl. I have a large time frame to build, I'll probably build it out of the car on a stand.
