So I looked at set of M54b30 exhaust manifolds and had to wonder at how constrictive these things appear. I then looked at some M52B28 manifolds and while they are no work of art like an M3 system they would appear to offer some flow potential compared to the M54B30 manifolds. So the question is; has anyones swapped them over and what were the results?

If you just want a M Sport equivalent then Koni StrT shock seem to match M Sport springs, springs that are any firmer will overwhelm the rebound ability of the StrT shocks. I have run Bilsteins and Konis on an e36 and lean towards Koni as the rebound rate can be adjusted. There are in my experience just as big gains to be had by replacing the suspension bushes and uprating they sway bars.

Have a look at the Aussie made Super Pro Stuff, I am quite impressed by their E46 FCA bushes.

As above a set of the plates that you fit to reinforce the upper rear shock mount.

So the mechanic cleared the fault codes but found the shifter had a loose bolt on the bottom? and was not fully engaging drive? I got him to do a transmission service as I overheated the trans fluid when it had a fault code, he said it's no longer throwing codes and shifts smoothly. I will pick it up tomorrow. He is adamant that batteries need to be registered especially if they are different to what was in previously, the fact that the older battery had low voltage likely didn't help my situation. next up is Ohlins, Eibach, Vanos, oil leaks, PCV and new plugs for good measure, but I guess that's another post.

Well you guys scared me into replacing the battery. I took the original 66 and put it in my 93 E36 when the original lost a cell. I fitted a Din65ZLMF to the E46 as recommended. Price was $290. Now I have to say I had no issues with the 66 but when the 65 went in everything started playing up even my trans shut down and threw a fault code.I took it too my BMW guy and he cleared the fault codes and registered the battery; he will check the trans out tomorrow to see if it was an electrical fault or something else. Getting a better battery has caused me more issues that just staying with the cheapy.

Ok how much work is required to make the S50 headers fit. I guess I would like to know, will they clear the steering shaft, and how much work to connect them to the rest of the exhaust as I gather they wont just bolt up?

Having a cleanout and up for sale is this two tone leather interior from an 93 E36 Coupe. Driver's seat is obviously pretty worn but the rest is ok. E36 springs are non m/sport and are free or they go in the skip bin on Friday. Happy to swap the interior for E46 interior parts (no wood trim though) or whatever you have I may be interested, who knows... $100 for the complete interior but would prefer it be picked up or can drop into Wellington.

I guess its starting to be a cost thing now I could be up for well over a grand on this, I will have look at what options there are in the UK, there shipping is slightly cheaper than the US so it may be an option yet.

Ok it looks like the flanges are completely different so thats the end of that option.

Yes the M3 Headers would be the best bet I'm sure, Is it worth getting a tune if I fit the M3 headers?

Does anyone have experience with headers on their E46? I was looking at these ones on TM but having to modify the o2 sensor doesn't seem right.
