I think the deal breaker here is the year. 1991 is too early for an E31 and I would definitely look for something well after 1994. Not an easy one though....

Good on you. In regards to the fan clutch before you change it check with bmw. They are all making this noise in the m62tu engines. Maybe no need to change it.

A friend of mine tried to o down this road and I remember it was not possible. Did you try ask some coilover OEMs?

Have a look at my 328ci if you like the color combinations. It is 1999 though but I bet much better condition inside out than any newer ones I have seen. I might go for a Benz oldtimer so the e46 will go at some stage. Cheers

Hi friends. Today something interesting came to my attention. Having booked but not purchased yet a nice 3spoke M-steering wheel to install in my 540i (factory oem 4 spokes wheel) I went through a crosscheck exercise in regards to the airbag. Because my car is produced exactly on March '99 (the date BMW changed over from single stage to dual stage airbag) I thought it is wise to check the airbag itself. Took away my steering wheel ....and....BINGO !!!! Airbag production year: 2000 (and apparently a dual stage one) WTF? ???? Anyway I keep calm and start googling. Airbag recalls of E39's in 1999. There is some information but not enough evidence. I am a bit confused. Anyone had similar experience?
