Thanks for comment on my build, yours is lookin rather slick itself, everyone knows E34's are the best 5 series there is How did you go with your M20 flywheel? Im taking mine into work tomorrow to cut that meat off the back of it How did you go with mounting the engine into the car with the Getrag? I used the RH side mount from the M20 and it aligns the engine with the box very well but the intention was to stand the engine up more

Yeah we got 3 full time welding bays and a robotic welder at work lol mig tig arc gas, I am lazy and wanted to buy the Ebay version then play with it, strengthen with some braces welded on and arrange the flanges to mount it perfect and get the right angle on the turbo so I can tilt it back and hopefully have the intake coming through the bonnet slightly so you can see the topside of the turbo through a square cut out of the bonnet. If that makes sense :S Edit* Yeah I do kinda wanna go all out, you can pick up M50 engines cheap and with the right bolt ons and already got a megasquirt id just keep the MS loom unbolt turbo gear crane out the M50 and crane in a new one ready to test a different tune or try something safer if it blows - was thinking of getting a 2nd M50 to build with forged internals while I use the first that is in there now to get the thing running with exhaust welded up and plumbing all done See what happens keep tuned anyway will post more updates

Thanks BBS, Yeah I do too... But I dont think it will, there is that $1400 clutch kit for an S5* on trademe that might hold boost? Yeah well I was going to get it and work with it, maybe grind some bits off or tig the flanges on at different angles, ive got PLENTY of room for the turbo its not even funny, and I have made alot of room for the downpipe by standing the engine up

Im after an M50 flywheel of some kind? any billet or some sort a fancy thing out there thats light and sturdy?

Got stuck into it again this morning for an hour and a half, Got the M50 in using the M20 RH Engine mount, bolts perfectly and the M50 is aligned with the Getrag 240 Just perfectly, Havent bolted it to the box yet as I need to shave some meat off the back of the flywheel, will reface it aswell while im there, why not? lol Havent run into any problems and all the hoses lead to the same spots so I think this car will be up and running in no time, Just need to get onto Turbo gears now and exhaust See ebay has some lovely topmount manifolds hmmmm Edit* Finally figured out how to make these pictures 800x600, going to grind off that battery box mount too and run it into the boot, make more room for that top mounted turbo 95% New exedy clutch kit still meaty as dont know how long it will last though...

ALRIGHT!!! After bout 4 weeks of trying my best to hire an engine crane, FAIL, Bought one today with a Bonus we got from work at end of tax year ($320 for quality control lol) got it from super cheap auto, bloody cheap chinese engineering, but it worked, M20B25 is out Left the gearbox in to position the M50 against the Getrag 240 so I can get some dimensions to make some custom mounts lol The M20 mount fits the M50 so Im gonna see if I can mix and match mounts to get is close, might be able to get something right, If anyone needs to Borrow an engine crane in CHCH give me a yell

Wanting to hire an engine crane for the weekend and monday VERY desperate will pay 60 - 80 bucks?? Organised a mate to help me tow one from hirequip, called them this morning to ask if they had one, they said yes, told them id be in just after work to pick it up (4pm), we turned up at 4:15 and get told sorry its gone.... Grr and I have taken monday off to get this project underway! (its also hard to ask for $20 back from your mate after you f***ed him around but didnt really use his help) Thanks if you can help GREATLY appreciated!

Tell me about it, they also sent me an 3 series auto driveshaft How much do these shift arms and mounts go for? Edit: They did send me a 5 series manual one in the end though

Makes alot of sense, thanks very much for clearing this up means alot as it will save me the headache of finding out the hard way, So if I stand the engine up more to the degree of the M20 I should be able to get away with a standard mount +- some washers/packers? The plan is Turbo so standing the engine up is slightly inevitable to get a downpipe past the steering rack So you are able to supply a new mount? The guy who sold me the conversion kit gave me a mount that must have been either for an auto or narrow tunnel as I had to slot the holes wider to be able to bolt it on but its far too rough for my liking

Awesome you have them for 100? Ive emailed TONNES of BMW Part Dealers in NZ and noone has them New or Old, Errm It was a M20 with Getrag 240 but now have an M50 for it, also have a Getrag 260 but dont know the difference between the 2 boxes could you clear this up or advise which is the best to use? If the 260 then will the driveshaft still work with it? Thanks Brent Edit: Do you have a rough dimension for narrow and wide tunnel? Sorry didnt know there were 2 types

Looks like it has a separate oil sump and an oil pump under there, Just had a brain wave... Legal external wastegates! thats a bonus lol

Looks very interesting, and id say the lag would be the same, I dont know too much about fluid dynamics but once the BOV is closed and as long as there are no leaks from the Turbo to the Intake Pressure should build at the same rate no mater what the length.....? Do correct me if im wrong and explain, I like to know alot of useless information lol

Hey I may be able to help you out, have an 885 that I got reconditioned/machined, just trying to find a crane to get the M20 out, will get in touch once ive split the head and will check over the condition I know how hard it is to find these too as this head was a replacement!

Wanting to borrow or hire an engine crane in Christchurch or around Christchurch, Before someone says "Hirequip" etc. I have called them and they only have ones that you Tow am after one I can break down and chuck in the boot, Will break down myself if you CBF but dont mind me borrowing/hiring, I also WILL bring it back, can bring something of value to leave behind if necessary, not out to rip anyone off, Thank you!!

I bought a conversion kit about 2 years ago and put it into the e34 no worries, But the shift linkage doesnt have any mountings? so the gear lever slops around in its hole with the rubber boot keeping it up, I cant find any pics on other E34 shift linkages and though someone may be able to help me.. When I look at new shift linkage on pelican parts it shows a shaft coming out of the end that goes into a linkage mount Mine doesnt have a shaft coming out of the end, is it broken?

Ahh sorry CLICK! that plugs for the Vent thingy... Good point on having to deal with running it on the MS would rather have less to worry about that more in the ECU department
