Like the E38, 95L tank, best not fill from empty ...... 🤕

Great example, wagons are always a little pricey but the spec is very nice 👌

Been a favourite of ours since we where in Morrinsville, still great but not as great as when they had Buttermilk pancakes on the menu.

Couldn’t resist a good long run down through Cambridge and back home. 300ks felt great, always more to do though ....
Firepot is always a good stop

Righto, bit of an update.
Cars been away for a couple of months getting a birthday. Was in no hurry but it’s great to have her back. She drives awesome and I forgot how much I love this old girl.
few things ticketed off the list
WOF and check
Replaced rear pads
Transmission service and filter
Front brake hoses replaced
Engine mounts replaced
Cooling system pressure tested, found small leak. Radiator and lower hoses replaced
Reinitialised Remote and key, had lost remote key and boot access
Top battery replaced
Oil and filter changed
Still a couple of things to do, transmission mount needs sourcing, seemingly impossible to get in NZ so I’ll get one brought in. Rear joint on drive shaft has a bit of play so will get that done as well.
Have new rear passenger glass as current its delaminating a little being double glazed.
Then Xmas it’s getting the full polish, see if I can sort out that dodgy paint job. If not then it’ll likely get a wrap.- 1

One year down, service at BMW. Requires service every two years and it’s effectively three years by the look of it for a complete service anyway.
Couple of new front tyres and alignment. wipers are a bit special and dealer only. Brake fluid change, coolant change, Rex fluid change, bla bla bla. $2000 later.
Completed 11k kms this 12 months, power cost is around $250 so all up $2300 for 11ks and probably nothing but power for the next year, very happy with that.
Put a carplay unit into the iDrive which is great as well, just a Chinese knock off module but it works great. Looking forward to another year now.
Edit. Bought a new rear aerial $25, looking a bit shabby ?

Looks decent, as highlighted these are hard on suspension and the edc shocks would be worth checking for leaking and if ok, if not changing to none edc is the only real option.
Check all the electrics and likely it’s had or will need some coolant hoses replaced. -
Pics of the 728 as well please ?

Welcome Jay, pretty sure that’s a infra red key not rf, if I recall you point it at the red bulb under the rear view mirror but I can’t recall the exact sequence.
No doubt someone here will recall it, if I remember I found it on you tube. Mainly Japanese cars I believe also, sorry a bit vague but likely the answers already here if you have a good search also ?- 1

have you got a park in Thorndon? You could leave your car here,on the side of the road but off the road,i could play taxi or we are very near a bus route.
Taken this a few times, bugger all traffic, great roads ?

I’ve taken a liking to it also, M3s and 4s are always designed to stand out and in today’s design language you sure as sh*t can’t call it another vanilla refrigerator. The full design combined together it brings purpose in my mind, like my i3, dare to be different . Go back 18 years and a similar conversation around the E60 was being had. Now it’s accepted and celebrated

A rebuild of the bottom end cost 30k+ from memory.

90800ks service.
Continental Cars, $1440, CEL was on as a lean mix, thought it was a vacuum leak, smoke tested and not. MAF sensor clean and cleared, we shall see.. drives ok, had maybe a slightly rough idle.Includes micro filter at $270 + and a wheel alignment. Could have been worse ?

Looks new ?

I have one of the little $20 karcher ones and find it’s great, I don’t have to refill it with snow foam from UCC. Maybe I’m just cheap.
would definitely recommend one Dave for $20 And local from Mitre10, not a big loss If it doesn’t suit you

NZ has no appreciation for Alpina, would be an expensive indulgence, I have no doubt the drive would be damn good against the stand X3 though

And replaced the driver rear window that was delaminating, much better.
The rear 3 quarter blinds where both extended and won’t retract, so took them off, wound them back up and put them back on, they are pretty much impossible to repair so just keeps them out of the way.
