  1. I bought mine in August, Had to replace the fuel level sensor which I diagnosed and purchased from the US. That was an easy fix. I also lost the car for 6 weeks while the vanos oil pump and high pressure line were replaced. This was covered under warranty, (total cost approx $8000) it only cost me $600. The SMG is also quite problematic on the early builds, some get lucky. If it has had the software updates you can be a lot more confident though. They also have issues with the rod bearing being pretty stuffed in some cases after 150-200k km's, this appears to be more common overseas. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, you have to go into it prepared for the fact one day it could cost you thousands. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Thanks, It was taken heading out to Otatara at the old docks. I still need to roll the rear guards to reduce the rubbing, Had to butcher the guard liners to fit them in the first place. Here's a few more I took today at Bluff. For those who are curious, here's the dyno sheet.

Cheers, it was one of the main reasons I picked this car. Didn't want just another black or silver one.

    Indy Red E60 M5

After fixing a few mechanical issues that these cars are notorious for I've now got it sitting how I wanted. Carbon front lip installed, front bumper resprayed, Eibach lowering springs (front only for now) and my Work Gnosis CV201 wheels fitted. Specs are 20x9.5 +5 275/30/20 20x11 +28 305/30/20 Took a bit of massaging to get them in there and will need a little more but I'm happy with the result. Apologies for the cell phone photo's and dirty car.
  5. Still have one left, shout yourself a xmas present.
  6. Certainly do, if you're keen contact me on 027 780 6819
  7. Yes, they're still available. Shipping with insurance for the above value is approx $150. Note: These are for an E60 with the Motorsport package not an E60 M5 as some have miss-interperated.
  8. They're made in china, most of the ones on ebay are anyway. I was quite impressed by the quality/finish of them.
  9. Hi, I have two Carbon fibre/fibre glass composite front lips for sale for a E60 5 series with the motorsport front bumper. They're brand new, never been fitted. Comes with some mounting hardware but I recommend using additional adhesive. As always some alterations may be required for perfect fitment. $450 each - Willing to ship at buyers expense.
  10. The bit that interests me the most is how much it shares with the M4, that motor is just waiting to be opened up. Could definitely be keen in a couple of years.
  11. New sensor arrived today from the US, installed it and now the distance to empty is reading correctly again. Problem solved Installation was a bit of nuisance as the lid on top of the fuel pump was very tight and you have limited working room.
  12. I am running 10% ethanol in it as it's tuned for 98 and we don't have any down here. I had considered that may be an issue but most high octane fuel in the states is an ethanol blend and they aren't having too many problems with them over there. Plus it's only had a few tanks put through it.
  13. You're not wrong, it's a little bit depressing at times trying to work out how it's empty already. Your wagon will be even worse again...
  14. Hi guys, I believe I have diagnosed the issue but I thought I would document it so it is available for others to refer to in the future. Using this resource I looked up the fuel readings in the left and right tanks and the reading for the right tank was displaying asterisk's instead of a value so I believe the right level fuel sensor is the cause and am in the midst of sourcing one from the US. http://www.scoopz.com/m5board/E60_Hidden_OBC_Instructions.pdf
  15. Yeah I don't like the look of those audi photo's when they have all the radiator support removed to pull the motor out. Got some work Gnosis CV201's coming from japan for it 20x9.5 +5 and 20x11 +28. They should be here in November all going well. On a side note does anybody know of someone with a Hamann style Carbon fibre front lip?
  16. Yeah, when I bought my Z everybody asked me what I'd buy next. Now they're convinced I can't go better again, I think either an M6 grand coupe or RS6 wagon would do just nicely. I was considering an RS4 avant instead but so far I'm definitely happy with my decision on the bimmer. The 4.2L V8 wouldn't even come close, I just wish the M5 had those nice recaro's.
  17. Hey guys, so after a couple of weeks and a few stupid glitches all is well. Averaging 15-16L/100 with mixed driving. Well and truly worth every cent, I've found the Idrive is far more user friendly than what I've read from other people's experiences. The acceleration as I'm sure you can appreciate is surreal in 3rd, 4th and 5th. 1st and 2nd gear are a lost cause.
  18. Hi guys, wondering if anybody else would be keen to purchase a CF Hamann replica lip off Alibaba. I haven't made an order yet, wanted to see if a few others were keen and we can split the costs. I'd assume it will be approx $450ea? http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/06-10-HM-Style-E60-M5_1337793116.html?spm=a2700.7724838.35.1.MdJHZg Unless somebody has one they want to sell.
  19. Thanks gents. So far around town I'm looking at 16-17L mixed driving and with the usual heavy foot for the first week, I consider that to be all right. You won't get any better from a cammed clubsport. The SMG takes some getting used to but I'm seriously enjoying it, using it in manual mode on the fastest shift setting and it's no worse than a 90's auto in terms of smoothness.
  20. Averaged 11L/100 to Wellington and 11.4L/100 to Invercargill so I was suitably impressed after reading all the negative comments on its mileage. Roughly $1000 all up to get it home incl flights and the ferry crossing. Yes the radio was used, unfortunately has a bit of a drone to it around 2500rpm.
  21. Cheers, yes it does look awesome in the right light. I didn't want to settle for a black or silver one like all the others. In the photo's next to the lake it has 1500 km's of road grime on it. First Bimmer, previously had a prelude, R33 GTST and just sold my 350Z. Enquiring about some wheels for it, getting anything that fits nicely is a pain as the offsets are all way too weak.
