  1. Totally agree that the modern Euro diesels are awesome. RUCs need to be addressed though to make the financial incentive better. Split commercial from private use and charge accordingly if they want us to adopt clean burning efficient diesel cars.

Well after owning my Pug for 3 months now i have to say i would not go back to a petrol, Filled it on thursday, $46 Hehehehe. :)

Done 980Km so far,(150Km of that was towing my boat) and still have 1/4 of a tank left, They are the best on long trips, loads of tourqe, they dont have to rev, they are so quiet, cruise up big hills at 2000rpm, and you can tow anything with them,

Only down side is RUC, and a little bit extra for Rego, I don't think it would be worth it if you only did say 10,000 km a year, but i average 40,000km +.

Its clean burning, no smoke whats so ever, hell the oil doesn't even turn black, thats how clean it is.

  2. The upper suspension arm at the rear of the vehicle?

    PM Me

    Hey there.

    Here is a diagram: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=33&fg=30

Start by jacking the vehicle up and removing both rear wheels,

then remove arm #13 at the ball joint end, then prosed to remove the faulty arm #17.

    you will need good spanners,

then will need to pop out the ball joints from the hub by tapping it with a hammer.

upon reinstalling the arms you need to leave the ends with the rubber bushes finger tight, then refit wheels, and then whilst the vehicle is on the ground tighten up the bolts, this stops the bushes being loaded up when the vehicle is sitting flat on the ground, if you do not do this you can expect the bushes to fail 10x quicker.

But dude, If you are not happy with doing it yourself a good mechanic should only charge you 1-1.5 hours labour and an alignment.

also re your manual did you just want a owners manual? I have a pdf version if you would like it

  3. I had a look at those, they look nice and I'm sure the ride is good in them... but I've heard horrible things about reliability of audi's in general, can anyone offer an insight to this? Glenn maybe?

Still to this day the best car i have owned, (sorry bmw lovers)

It was fantastic on fuel, beautiful to drive, so so so reliable,

i had mine superchiped and that made all the differance.

Mine was a 2000 passat sedan, in white 1.8t.

it has done 200,000km + now with the new owners and still no worries, (i did 80,000km) and replaced one suspension arm, replaced tires, and serviced.

  4. lol sory didnt actually realise it wasnt update. Done it now tho.

I sell a bypass-box for the faulty occupancy sensor, just means that in the event of a crash, the passenger airbags will be triggered even with the seat empty, but hey if the accident it bad enough to set of an airbag the insurance company can keep the car :)

  5. thats why i sold my 99 540iT , could see some big costs coming in the future . had heard of these issues with the later vanos v8 engine's

I have recently done this repair on a NZ New 535i at work, came in with a noise, and very very rough idle and loss of power, 205km from memory
