G'day everyone, My hunt for an E30 325i motorsport with sunroof continues. I have come across these two cars. Both seemed to be in Ok condition. Thinking of doing a PPI (Team Mcmillan BMW or BM workshop North, botany is too far) before pulling the trigger. Thought I would first ask around here before spending money on PPI. Anyone know their history or checked them out earlier? Also, if I was to put a deposit on a car before doing a PPI and the PPI checks out to be a bad car, do I get my deposit back? Black one already has minor rust on the roof and bonnet. How much is it usually to fix this? Also, if rust is present on the car, is it an indication that the car is a bit neglected? Btw, a big thanks to trip3 - forum member. He's been very helpful and has offered to check out the black car for me. I really appreciate this.

Cheers for the advice. Might have to give it a miss then, would rather drive a cheap japa everyday and keep an E30 M325i for those sunny days and spend the money looking after her.

Apologies, I should have provided more details. The car is a 2007 E60 530i sport with 40,000kms, fresh import. Grade 4.0 rating. Yes, I would drive about 15,000/year. I tend to drive carefully and economically most of the time. But things like, how much does a usual service cost? Obviously, things are gonna break and need replacing, so if I budget for $2500 a year for servicing and maintenance? Or should I invest in mechanical insurance, I have been quoted $1000 for two years? Thanks

Yeah I tracked the old plates and it seems it was written off and then re-registered. I am sure HellBM must have done an excellent job to bring it back to life. Price wise, what do you think it's worth?

Hope everyone is having a great day. I am looking to forward to being part of the 'bimmersport' community. Currently, don't have any wheels, but will be moving back to NZ and looking to getting another Bavarian beast. Last car was an E30 325i in NZ and that was almost 7 years ago, been away since. My other hobbies include flying, surfing and riding motorbikes. I would love to stretch the budget and pull the trigger on an E46 M3 but unfortunately due to daily driver and financial requirements I am looking at at an E46 330ci. My search has led me to look at one particular 330ci, theres one on trademe - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-894291297.htm that has caught my attention. I have read that the SMG gearbox can be quite troublesome and expensive to fix. Also, 15k for this car seems a bit steep. Could someone please shed some light more on the car or the topic of 330ci with SMG (quite rare specimen or what I have read so far). Your Input is appreciated. P.S. I am based in Indonesia at the moment, if you need tips about discovering Indonesia/Bali especially some interesting surf spots or night life, will be glad to pass them on.
