Clearly you've assumed one too many things here. Firstly, i have an auto E30 that already has an m40 in it with fairly low kms so why would i swap it out for a m42? Secondly, i did not state that i'm doing it myself. My post clearly states i'm looking for advice on where to find a manual conversion kit not how to convert an e30. Cheers for you're input though.

hey guys im looking at buying a 1989 e30 318i and the owner has told me about these problems. how much will it cost to fix? problems are below. also am i right in assuming this car has an m40 being a 1989? carjam says the engine number is 184E. "The bema does have a few minor problems Ac belt is missing, needs replacing and there's a problem with the dash back light all the other lights still work and I think it the thermostat might need replacing as temp gauge fluctuates Let me know if you're still interested." thanks in advance!

Alright fellas, i've been wanting to buy an e30 318i manual coupe since last year but every time one comes up it sells after two or so days. I am now looking at importing one. Do you guys recommend it? Do you guys know of someone who can import one for me? is it risky? I have no idea about importing e30's so maybe some of you could shed some light on it. thanks in advance

that aside, how will it be as a daily?

you would prefer the 320i why sorry? im new to e30's, i have been told that 318i's are more zippy and 320i's take quite a bit more gas.
