We spent a lot of time considering Thames as somewhere to live, but haven't moved there (or anywhere!)

Happy to try to answer questions.

    Thanks for that!

I'll drop you a message in the morning when I've formulated questions with my wife. :)

can be prone to some flooding

We noticed that. I have looked the various flood plain maps and the house we're looking at is not in any of the listed flood zones, and is on top of a hill. In theory, safe. :) (The ticket will be whether we can get flood insurance or not!)

Just did my E39 with Penrite FS. Used 10L total with a 2nd drain after the filter change. Removing trans cooler lines looks a pita on E39 and something would probably break in the process.

It's not so bad, but it's messy as anything. Plan on lots of rags...

    Tracking number received

USPS "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item" hasn't changed since 15th

Asendia USA package arrived destination country new Zealand 2/2/18

    expected delivery 12th

Contacted all parties involved no joy just promises

So ordered a set of stainless steel hoses with connection adapters as cover.

USPS is really bad about tracking... If you legitimately want tracking, you need UPS/Fedex/DHL from the US.

CBF started its own thread so here’s a big poat, picked up another members silver 540i MSport with a damaged engine off trademe a couple weeks ago, this weekend I got both cars out to my parents farm and pulled both m62s from the silver 540i (chain slipped) and my old black 540i (electric issues) and swapped the good engine into into the silver body. Cleaned it up and reassembled the interior whenever it rained and after refilling fluids etc I managed to drive it home today!

Safe to say my hands are f****d but we’ll worth the effort and experience!

New tyres tomorrow and need to figure out how to get the OEM Head unit going again next.

I get this is old hat to many here, but to me, this is amazing and something I hope to have the knowledge, and ability to do one day. Awesome dude!

Anyone able to lend/sell the water pump (pulley pump?) holder tool for m54 and other engines?  I could collect anywhere between Hutt valley and Masterton.

For that price, you might as well buy them, no? I have them here in Auckland and am happy to loan for cost of postage anytime.

I used to keep a car covered under a cover outside and to be honest I wouldn’t recommend it.

The trouble with car covers is anything that’s waterproof retains all the moisture under the cover and when it’s sunny it heats up the car like an oven. So you have a double whammy of extra heat and moisture within the around the car - results are never pretty under prolonged use.

Another thing is any wind and the cover moves around acting like sandpaper with any dust particle wrecking havoc on your paint work.

and there’s no such thing as one that doesn’t blow off, they are like a parachute in windy conditions, even if you tie it down onto the car have a brick on top.

Personally just leave it in the elements and move it around and open the windows when the sun is out.

Buy a cat to scare the birds away or use a scarecrow : )

Thanks for the advice Tom. I think my kids would like the cat idea very much, but then I might end up with cat paw prints all over my hood! :)

So... Gabe, do you have something to tell us?

Not likely. A healthy chat with the wife made it clear I need to sell mine before I replace it with anything... I need to do some work on mine still, then I'll be comfortable posting it at a loss, to buy a more expensive car. :)
