Re-did my driver's side vapour barrier, as I have a wet wet rear driver's side carpet... Looks like I didn't use nearly enough Wurth's Dab-Off last time... I don't think I could have used more now...
Also replaced my aging, and leaking windshield washer fluid pump. Nothing fancy...
Wife drove it for the first time today ever for her, and first time in a couple of months. The glories of parking outdoors... I have ants! wtf

I spend a lot of time online, and the forum theme change has honestly reduced the amount of time I spend here. I accept my presence isn't exactly earth shattering, or anything, but this change has made it unpleasant to visit the site. This was a serious downgrade for me.
I've suggested, and offered before, but I'd be happy to volunteer my time to do this upgrade, fix up the http config so we use https, and any other configuration issues we may have. As a one-off, or on-going, as needed/liked.

These guys also have the decals. Drop them a note though, as I don't see it on their site anymore.

1 hour ago, gjm said:I've been ordering a few things from the UK. Nothing too big, nothing expensive - couple of £ here and there, several items. Shipping to NZ would be multiples of the value of any single item.
Thought I'd use NZPost YouShop. So far, it'll cost me a lot more to use their consolidated service than it would to ship each item individually!
- A book - shipping from Amazon less than £10; NZPost YouShop shipping: $22.
- A bluetooth keyboard for our daughter - shipping would have been £12; YouShop shipping £17.25.OK - let's consolidate the two items into a single package. Consolidated shipping rate - no saving over individual shipping. £39.25.
Perhaps I'm missing the point of using a service like this, unless it is to just make more money for NZPost?
(By the way - you cannot get an estimate for YouShop shipping until they have received the items at their warehouse.)

I've been using comgateway for years. They are a lot better than the NZ Post service.

Not as bad as the media makes out, but definitely noticeable.
I was there in January. I don't think I can live there anymore, based on that one visit, alas... First time back with family since the election, and that division the media portrays is probably not nearly as intense as what I felt, alas...

I'm dreading coming back to NZ. Though there will be many many parts coming back with me. Many. All of the parts.
If my country wasn't crazy, I'd move back there for amazon prime, and cheap parts.

Gorgeous car. What price do you have in mind for it?

Follow your damaged brake line back to the next fitting and take it off with the correct spanner and just get a second hand brake line from the wreckers.
Do not use a gas torch or vice grips when working on brake components
Hi Glenn, I couldn't find one that has 7, and 8mm, but is this the set you mean?

That does look nice.

I found this really helpful for mine.

It's hard for me to come and see. It's an hours drive each way. I work at home with my kids here, so I can't really just ditch for this.

Just now, treone said:In all seriousness now though. I think that 530i Touring would be a great alternative, and addition to your Leaf.
You're already familiar with the e39 530i. You have the knowledge, experience and ability to work on these. And it is probably super practical for how you intend to use it. A bit like the reasons I got that ugly thing (sorry had to throw that one in lol).
Hope it works out for you!
I think the e39 Touring is precisely the larger car to partner with the Leaf. I agree entirely. I've got a lot going on right now with house selling/buying/getting screwed, and once that's over, I'll focus on this.

1 minute ago, BM WORLD said:no shades , but do have the door cards
Can I move my shades to the new doorcards? Or can I just glue my door cards? The leather/plastic bit is separating from the top bit.

Still have rear doorcards in this? Do they have the sunshades?

5 hours ago, treone said:Nice! Trade the Leaf...
Did you know Leafs appreciate in value right now? There is such demand for EVs in NZ, my Leaf today sells for $3k more than I paid for it a year ago... Plus, that is my wife's car. One guess as to which car would have to go... Plus, you drive the ugly thing now, shush about the Leaf!

Mine now doesn't have ISOFIX either. I don't mind anymore. I've learned to love Britax Clicksafe. It's ideal for those classic cars without ISOFIX in the back.
EDIT: Clicksafe also works around those obnoxious cars without ALR seatbets.

1 hour ago, Eagle said:Sure price does factor in the equation but there's no decent online ordering system in NZ for new BMW parts.
This is true, and for an online experience, shop from the US, and it'll be here quicker, and cheaper than most local options. I am a huge fan of FCP Euro, and will plug them any chance I get.
That said, I have to plug Continental Cars BMW (formerly Jerry Clayton BMW) and their parts department. If you know what you want, call them, ask for a quote. They will post to you at a reasonable cost, and for small items, can end up being competitive with FCP Euro (since cost of shipping for small things doesn't scale down well.) You have to have the part number ready to go though, which is the only drawback. No searching, or other online-shopping benefits.

1 minute ago, Olaf said:Interesting! 60 days free storage is double what I get from MyUS.com as a premium member. MyUS gives me a choice of 4 carriers, 5 services, so I can pick my rates.
I've weaned myself off US purchases currently; may give comgateway a go in future.
I get 2 day US shipping free from FCP as a priority customer, and combined with 4 days on FedEx and sharp rates it's often better for me than UPS to Wellington from FCP.
That said, I need a sunroof seal and rear window trims/seals... next order most likely plain vanilla UPS from FCP.
Yeah, the comgateway folks are pretty good. I've used them since we lived in Singapore, they're all over and very good.
I do admit I also get FCP to ship to me direct though.
How did you get priority customer status!?

Cheers
Link part from FCP Euro? I am always looking for an excuse to order more parts.

Good luck with sale!
