With the Bluetooth you added in. How did they do it? Is it like something plugged into the cigarette lighter? Or more sophisticated?

I looked it up. It's similar to Android auto. Do you like it?  Over idrive?

    It’s identical to android auto!

You use all your mobile compatible apps. You can then message, use iTunes and Spotify plus Apple maps all with your jog dial.

its a retrofit so a lot more sofisticated no cigarette lighters used!

    Awesome cheers guys @Benji335i @Navin @Herbmiester

I've got the CIC with nav system. No Bluetooth sadly.

That puts me at ease thankfully.

I heard soon that BMW will also start doing the retrofit like aftermarket places do for our idrive maps since they get heaps more imports through. So maybe in future they won't mess your maps up.

    No problem at all bro!

I got BT and maps retro fitted by auto gravity!

I have CIC jap import too!

    Carplay is apples intergrated system

Okay so must be a voltage thing then I think the app showed 11.7 volts

Also is there anyone using mhd tunes that has a Japan import with nz maps loaded on? I'm just a little worried if I flash a tune I might lose the nz maps or the ability to use them..

You won’t lose anything buddy!! Totally seperate to your idrive system

mine gets serviced at Bm workshop and MHD flashed.

i have a jap import with nz maps retro fitted by auto gravity it’s all good to go.

i now however have car play

No, they disable the emissions error codes which does the job as long as it's still connected. When the connector is unplugged you get a different error code which MHD doesn't disable.
I've asked for them to disable this code too but as I'm apparently the only one with this issue they don't want to spend time on it.

I might try to plug the sensor in and tie it to something in the engine bay some day. But I suspect the weird readings it'll get from doing that might cause other issues.
And I have to take apart crap in the engine bay to reach the connector which I don't want to deal with now haha.

    Hey bro

just want to clarify a few things.

im N54 and decat, I have unticked the oem cat/downpipes option and written into my custom tune is to disable the cel light & detecting I have no cats.

however after a full cycle of the car running, I get the 2 inactive shadow codes!

    29F4 and 29F5 - catalytic converter conversion 1 & 2

its nothing to worry about though

    Totally do :D

That was one of my concerns too as it's clearly going to be over $399 incl shipping threshold.

    They accomodate gst very kindly!

My last order was the DCI the stock airbox is too restrictive

Hey are awesome to deal with and the owner Tiago is very friendly and helpful

Maybe http://www.hivelocity.co.nz/ (Gavin Bellars) would do an MHD tune?
BM Workshop Botany recommended him when I asked for advice on a tune. I haven't had time yet but I've been planning to contact him about a custom tune, I was hoping he'd provide MHD flashable maps.

Really no reason a proper tuner couldn't do this, they make the maps the same way regardless. If they can't, then maybe they're doing some other hack job rather than a DME flash tune?

Edit: Website not working ATM, but they have a Facebook page too: https://www.facebook.com/pg/Hi-Velocity-136383189765362/about/

I use BM Workshop Grey Lynn.

I have inlets and didn't know the OTS couldn't accomodate them?

However im Custom tuned by BQTuning, he specialises in the DCT. Based in the states, I send him logs and he amends accordingly. My car seems to be running sweet as I only get 2 shadow codes now and again, 29f4/5 but thats due to running catless.

I did preventative maintenance before I went FBO, Index 12 injectors, Delphi ignition coils and NGK spark plugs also double check your serpentine belt and pulleys, an oil leak can lead to catastrophic consequences if left to late, your crank will eat your belt up! I changed my pulleys and belt as a preventative measure.

I use ESCtuning and FCPeuro for my parts, to buy them here is extortionate.

I have just ordered some RHD Outlets and that is my final mod. Who is DCT on here? Have you guys got the latest software? it applies more pressure, so can take more power (layman terms) I have the software to flash it,  I have INPA and WinkFP.

As mentioned to Dyno tune with MHD would cost a fortune, I have paid for custom tuning with unlimited amendments.

Hit me up if anyone is keen to have a look or experience a custom MHD tune.

I’ve been running stage 2+ for about 6 months and loving it. Ive also got this stacked with xhp stage 3 transmission flash and that’s great too

Ive got 335 n54 with vrsf inlets, catless  downpipes, chargepipe and 7” intercooler.

im thinking about a custom tune so keen to hear how much better and who does this in NZ.

My turbos have quite a bit of rattle so will start looking at options at some stage. For now they hold boost fine with no codes

Be great to see some of your guys cars with your setups etc.

    Mean bro!

im keen to see your set up bro. You have all the VRSF stuff I have too, good choice, I got the BMW P exhaust too bro! With a custom tune for FBO!

No where here does MHD custom tunes so I get mine from the states! I am DCT too, with the latest software flash as well.

    where are you based?

Currebtly mine doesn’t have rattle and smoke fingers crossed. When I do I’ll go stage 1.

My engine expired when the crank bolt came loose. Took a year to get it back on the road...been running for a few months now so need to get MHD tune back on it. I installed catless downpipes and silicon turbo inlets while the engine was out...no brainer to do it then as the labour for both of those mods is nasty otherwise. With those two mods the car is going really well even on the standard tune (gave the inlets a homemade walnut blast while it was out too, which would have help breathing for sure).

I really need to go to stage 2 mhd now in order to get the check engine light tuned off due to the catless. But before that i want to install my charge pipe.

Sweet, so your engine went as well. Mine seized due to leaking injectors got another one so I have a spare I’m building.

How come it took a year to get back on the road?

FBO makes these cars fly! Get a custom tune buddy

I have been running MHD Stage 1+ for about 12 months now and have had no issues. I have an AMS intercooler and VRSF charge pipe. I tried linear throttle mapping but didn't like it. I am keen to move to stage 2 but will need to remove the cats. My question for those that have removed the cats is how tricky is it? At Stage 1 + I am pretty happy but my issue is traction especially off the line. I might look at the torque limitation option but would be keen on people's opinions here. I could of course get off my arse and order an LSD and fix things properly.

Awesome bro, where you based if in Auckland you can see what mine is like, FBO catless with custom tune.

where is the option for linear? I do boost by gear! Don’t use the exhaust burble potentially ruins longevity of your injectors!

Currently traction isn’t an option, I think due to doing boost by gear, sometimes in 3rd DTC says hello!

  11. Cheers bro it’s so quick!

Just ordered RHD outlets, so the turbos aren’t struggling with the added power increase.

I got the DCT TCU re flashed with the latest DCT software available. Just increases the clutch plate pressure to cope more with the power increase.

It shifts so quickly mate, plus the blips and burbles it does sound like an M car for sure!

Traction likes to kick in a lot haha.

have you done boost by gear with MHD options? And exhaust burble?

  12. I have an E-tune from the states who specialise in the DCT.

its stupidly quick I was contemplating upgraded turbos just stage one but not now!

    VRSF:

    Intercooler

    chargepipe

    Catless downpipes

    inlets

    OCC

    bmw performance exhaust

    that’s my set up!

Have ethanol stage two fuel pump waiting in my living room haha

If you only have 10-15k, better off to do a few mods an make a nice, reliable ~223rwkw car, that's 300rwhp, heaps for a daily driving road car.

Enough to be faster than just about every original M car.  What more do you need?

Higher levels than this are just ways to show off to your mates with dyno sheets and decrease reliability.

Valid point will get to the point of is it worth it, and just do FBO I’ll have a think of I didn’t have a spare long block I’d just do FBO

Surely you'll need (in cabin) selectable maps, boost ramps and traction control settings to suit different conditions/purposes?

I can't see 600hp on a wet NZ motorway working particularly well...

The way the car is mapped I can do boost by gear before it’s written and select what boost I want for what gear!

So the key take out for this is : you need to "identify the corners" so you can plan to get around them - making assumptions like " manufacturers are just out to cover their arse" will just have you straight lining the corners.

I gave you a figure of 750 Nm at 7000 RPM to get your target wheel power, however if you decided to go for peak power at 6500 then torque jumps to 800Nm   and about 850 if you go for 6,300 RPM so you should start developing some parameters so you can then work out what follows. I also used an assumed drive train loss of 18% - you should check  this as it is what we use for a rear drive manual config.

My custom tune is written for this transmission car.

The trans is a GS7D36SG,  Getrag DCI600, same trans internally as a M DCT.  The "600" denotes the rated NM for it.  If you experience clutch slippage in a DCT at under 600 ft/lbs of torque at the wheels it's because the tune/tuner hasn't/ doesn't know how to tune for a DCT.  DCT adjust line pressure based on calculated load it sees from the DME.   If you're making sure the DCT TCU is seeing the high load, then the TCU adjusts the line pressure higher to compensate for the higher load on the clutches.

Out of all N54 DCT tuned cars pushing 500lb+ torque not one has gone. This does not mean I won’t cut corners with it. It’s just the trans is stronger than is made out to be.

The tune is a DCT specific tune so all factors are taken into consideration
