  1. What a dealer huh. Good luck mate. I hope you are ready to spend the cost of the car again on legal fees if this goes to court.
  2. Looks like im becoming quite the regular on here... Last week the nipple thing that the coolant house running across the intercooler broke off, so I got it replaced. Mechanics flushed and replaced coolant at same time. Next day after testing my car out (I got downpipes installed too), I found coolant splatter around the expansion tank. The car is leaking coolant around the seam at the top. I will replace the tank my myself asap. After the car is warm, I can hear alot of noise from around that tank. I believe it is the coolant and air escaping, but I hope it's not boiling. I am hoping the mechanics either : a. put a little much in and it's just getting rid of the excess through the leaking seam b. didn't bleed it and theres air in there somewhere making it heat up too much I ran the bleed procedure today and will keep an eye on it. The coolant level itself hasn't noticeably lowered after a week of daily driving it and it sputtering out. I have to drive to fox glacier and back next week, is there any other steps I should take before I leave (apart from take spare coolant with me encase I need to top up) I pray it isn't a headgasket... the cars only done 75,000.
  3. What a f**king headache XD I hope you still have something to drive while this gets resolved?
  4. Yeh I understand what each tune requires, I was asking if it was safe to stay on stage 1/1+ with catless downpipes or if I needed to go stage 2. But seeing there is an option to choose catted/catless dp's on the stage 1 flash, I am guessing it is safe.
  5. Im safe running stage 1 with vrsf downpipes right? Or do I need to go stage 2 so the tune knows I have pipes and so can adjust for the o2 readings correctly? I reflashed stage 1 with the pipes in, and made sure the catted downpipe box was unchecked, so I think im good, but doesn't harm to check.
  6. Yup, that long thin one going across, but the actual break is the nipple that it sits over ont he large pipe going from the intercooler. So had to replace that whole piece. It's in now anyway with an oem replacement so hopefully it's good for a few km's. I had intercooler o-rings replaced two weeks ago and I am guessing it got cracked/damaged during the movement.
  7. Update, downpipes in, ended up using auto authority (porsche specialists) because they are closer to my work. Took the guy 6 hours from start to finish including testing for leaks, road test etc. - $630 + GST If anyone else in CHCH wants them done, I would presume they would be faster next time. Pipes sound a little throatier, went to test them properly last night but noticed my temp rising higher than normal. Got a low coolant warning this morning, felt for leaks and one of the coolant hoses snaped right off in my fingers, right where it's connected to the drivers side of the intercooler hosing. Was incredibly brittle. Sprayed everywhere and burnt my hand a little. So it's back at autothority today, getting the part and coolant replaced. Also I can hear slight wastegate rattle now that I have the downpipes on........ feels like this is going to be the start of never ending repairs XD Hopefully not.
  8. Same kit. Apparently has a replaceable cartridge for the sealant although im not sure where to acquire one.
  9. @mosen http://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-3-stainless-steel-catless-downpipes-n54-07-10-bmw-335i-08-10-bmw-135i.html
  10. For anyone wondering/finding this through google, Acton Auto will be installing my pipes this week and I will report back. Not cheap, but the mechanics there very familiar with n54's, rattly wastegates etc. so I feel safe using them. Quoted $600 give or take if it goes smoothly or if there are issues. Painful because I paid nz $400 for the pipes XD And on a positive note, providence mechanical insurance happy to cover me still with the pipes on, and will even still cover other parts of the exhaust etc. I thought that was very reasonable service. They were happy to cover my custom built 4-2-1 headers on my last car also after my mechanic rang them.
  11. I didn't think of the autobahn safety. Spare Tyre wise, I brought a genuine BMW kit for $250 that I keep in the boot in the unlikely chance I get a puncture. I honestly thought something was wrong with my car on the run flats XD They were tramlining (is that the correct word?) something awful on these bumpy chch streets. Tyre's I got were (as per the invoice): front - 225/45R17 potenza RE003 rear - 255/40R17 potenza S001 Cost under 1g all up including a warranty so I thought the price was pretty sharp.
  12. Surely after 1000km's the dealer doesn't have to accept responsibility? Especially after accepting for the dealer to get the car fixed, and have them spend money. You could very well ruin a car in 1000km's if you rev'd it out while cold each morning etc. What does the law state re distance put on a new vehicle?
  13. Best mod I have done (e90 335i) ! What is BMW thinking putting those tyres on sports cars? The car feels and handles so much better now. Completely transformed it.
  14. Guaranteed it'll take me over a day. It took me 4 hours just to do chargepipe. By the time I buy some suitable ramps/jacks and whatever other tools I end up needing, I thought I might as well pay someone. On hold for now anyway. I flashed stage 1 MHD and car is going limp mode from wot pulls if I hit 6k+ rpm's. Will sort this before I do the dp's.
  15. This csl looks ugly to me, can't quite pick it. Linked to to a mate and got the same reaction.
  16. Anyone had this done locally? Looks like abit of a nightmare with a lift
  17. It's not the belt. It's definitely front passenger wheel. Only on slow acceleration or crusing - speeds 0 - 40km. Goes away when using brakes. And only once wheels/brakes/car is hot. But it's really bad when it is there. And mostly constant at low speeds. I spent $350 at my mechanic, he took wheels off and sanded brakes down. Made no difference. Im now reluctant to take it anywhere to waste more money on fixes that aren't even related.
  18. Thankyou for this info, I have done some reasearch on what you mentioned and see it can be an issue. I will check this weekend. Because it only happens when it is warm, and on throttle, not when idling etc. I am thinking it is the brake sensor issue which seems to be more common - but I will definitely check the belt.
  19. MY 335i has developed a squeaking sound, it can be heard at low speeds 1-30 kmph - is more pronounced when on the throttle even slightly. It sounds like maybe coming from around left front wheel , but it could be from the engine. It's not a constant squeak but like a every 1-2 seconds kinda chirp. Sounds abit like a bird. There is no squeaking when the car is idling. Im reluctant to take to my mechanic yet because I probably couldn't replicate it. I hear it every 2-3 times driving it, and usually don't notice till im going up my driveway or going slow through the super market carpark. It's loud enough to make people look. Anyone had similar issues? Would it be a wheel/break bearing, or some belt somewhere in the engine or something?
  20. FYI there's a guy tucked in a garage behind CCV , down the driveway running alongside CCV building, that does grooming. A few months ago I went to CCV to get a quote, and saw his sign when I was turning around in the driveway. I thought why not try him, I like to support small business. It cost me only $80 for a hand wax/polish to outside of my black car, was so impressed - I didn't ask for price for interior too. Not a swirl mark on it - looked like new. Treated all the rubber etc. too. This wasn't some carwash cafe bullshit, this was like 2+ hours of careful hand polishing. Wont get prices like that anywhere else. He gave me a bunch of business cards and I since lost them, it seems he has no website or anything, but I highly recommend heading down that driveway if your in need of a groom. You'll see the sign. (don't bother complementing me on my photoshop skills, being a graphic designer by trade I'm used to it)
  21. Yeh I went straight to bridgstone store after reading about that deal last week. Of course they don't offer it on any of the performance tyres, also the dude said because the sizes were different between front and rear, the deal wouldn't work on my car no matter the tyre. The guy wasn't keen to help get the deal and it kinda put me off getting bridgestones
  22. Had the car serviced last friday. No issues there. Now I just need a set of new tyres and that should be last of the $$$ required for a while finger crossed. Probably just looking at bridgestone potenza's. But wont be getting the run flats again. Would be keen to look into any other tyres if anyone has recommendations. I really wont be thrashing this thing around corners , but I do want it to feel good... Perhaps the potenza's are overkill, but id hate to spend up on new tyres and then hate the ride.
  23. I got one at some european mechanic cost 280 installed. Now have no triangle exclamation light at all, so should be done once I got the service on friday. Cars mint inside and out, so pretty good for $15k I think.
  24. yah bit scary, the car has 6 oil changes listed on the report, so can presume that is all within 60,000km , so I thought the car at least hadnt been fully neglected. Im just hoping it was done and wasnt cleared. Its the main service its asking for, the spark plugs filters etc . I think that is at 60,000 right? my mechanic cheked tank and didnt look too bad. Not gonna drive itto at allthat till he has fully flushed everything and replaced with Castrol edge, new sparks, filters, every fluid flushed and replaced, then I will probably drive like a granny and break her in like a new car and fingers crossed.
