  1. Sorry for being slow guys, trying to work my way through as best I can, my health just isn't the best, so it's taking me longer than one would hope. Most of you have had PM's, and the ones that haven't should hopefully hear from me in the next wee while.
  2. The only people who mock them are those who've never been for a ride in them with a decent driver, or driven one themselves. My brother had an '89 1.6 as his gravel-toy and fun car for a couple years until recently and absolutely loved it. Yes, I did say gravel, those things balance very well, and hang the tail more than adequately for anybody. Reason for selling; He upgraded to a near identical '90 1.6, but with a large hairdryer attached, among other goodies. Poking out 225-255 horse at the wheels, depending on boost. And having a friend with a batmobile as well, I've gotta say that even though those specific two are of similar speed and handling, NOTHING beats cruising along on a sunny day with the top down in the mx-5.
  3. APT - windy window handle I can do. Looks like one has already been replaced in that car, so you even get your choice of styles Ari - Non-smiley elliptical is on the right hand side (driver's side). Nipe - Surround is the same colour as dash, inset panels are black. Correct about the kick panel being black, also notice there's an upper and lower part to it, let me know if you're interested. e30touring - I'll pop a wheel off and check the springs at some stage for you later today or tomorrow when I get a moment Cheers for the interest guys
  4. Quite gutting to say this, but after approx 2 months of owning my E30, I sadly rolled it on my first venture with it on a gravel road. Was being relatively cautious, however I hit a large patch of loose gravel mid-corner, and when the tail let go I over-corrected sending it straight into a bank and over it went. Which brings me to here and now; keen to get the most I can by splitting it up for parts, so if there's anything you want, feel free to ask a question/make me an offer. Extra pictures can be added on request. Car is a facelift auto 316i, in colour Luxor-Beige Metallic, with mud brown interior. Exterior is quite damaged, although the bonnet seems fine, and drivers side doors also seem to be undamaged. Car is on King Springs Superlows in the rear, and also King Springs in the front, though unsure if superlow, or just low. All glass is fine apart from windscreen. All lights are fine, and while both fronts are Bosch, only one is the smiley. Interior is in pretty tidy condition, with the exception of the front seat bases, which have the standard wear rips, and the usual dashboard splits, however I do also have a dashboard mat, that has been in it the last couple of years. Picture shows the most damaged side, and the new wheels I had for the back. Wheels are 15" Mille Miglia ET35 (Will need spacers to put the front ones on as well), with 4* near new Firestone Firehawk tires. 3 barely worn in, 1 has had mild use, but still abundant tread left. $500 takes them, can supply pictures if you're interested. As I said, anything you like, get in touch, nothing too small, so make a reasonable offer and it's yours. Located in Timaru.
  5. Yeah noticed a bit of the same in mine the other day too, guess it's relatively normal then..
  6. Signed. We've got to protect what we've got, before it all gets taken away.
  7. Cheers for all the welcomes I'm pretty impressed myself with how straight and tidy it is, and I'll do my best to keep it that way.. Bonus of the lack of powersteer is that I get lovely road feel, especially on the open road, although some of that may just be the way the car is?
  8. Mud brown all the way! Yeah, I'd seen that thread, and can't confirm yet, but there's a reasonable chance I'll be out at levels for the racing.. Hope to be though.
  9. Hi guys, just bought my first car, a 1989 316i in good straight tidy nick, and in the process of learning about it I stumbled upon these forums. I've spent far too many hours already reading through the wealth of info on here and drooling over pictures of members cars.. you guys have got some real gems! My car is pretty close to bog-standard, apart from an upgraded head-unit and lowered springs put in by the previous owner. Paint and body is nice and tidy, as is the interior, apart from the usual problem with the base of the front seats and the split dash, although it has a carpet on it now anyway. No p/s, a/c, p/w - so pretty basic, but it has potential. I've built a small list of things so far that I would consider doing sometime as opportunity and finances allow; -At least 2 tires will need doing in 4-6 months, so when that's getting near I'll be hoping to stumble over a good set of second-hand alloys with decent tires left on them - only slightly dreaming with this one -Get the windows tinted at some stage perhaps -Boot lip spoiler, if I could find one I considered suitable -iS style front kit lip, or similar Anyway, here're some pictures for you- I've had to take the back mudflaps off because they were scraping over speedbumps with a fullish car, although I might get some floppy ones to put on again, just to protect the paint.. I've also had the timing belt and related tensioners done too, although it was still well inside the KM's travelled guide, it was over 7 years since last done. Cheers, Michael
