I hope to drive mine everyday. From the moment I saw the 135i I hoped M would build this car. I've been waiting for it since 2007 and I can't wait. It's everything I want in an M car.

Is yours a customer car or do you work for a dealer? I heard the BMW car was "under wraps" but I saw it driving in Ponsonby a week or two back.

I've ordered one of these and it arrives in July. They share a lot of parts with existing series and M cars (hence the lower price point) but it's a) lighter than a 135i, more powerful than the Z4is engine, despite what it says in official BMW material. It's based on the N54 but has been reworked. LSD, suspension and breaks from the E90 M3. There is heaps of in depth analysis on the net including reputable dyno runs that put it at 340hp at the wheels. i.e. BMW has under sold it to protect M3 sales. My understanding is 8 will be coming to NZ

Incorrect. It's lighter than the 135i despite the heavier LSD etc.

Thanks! Actually, the centre muffler is on the way out - big time - sounding very rough and rattly at certain RPMs! Dunno where to get one easily.

Thanks for all your positive comments, it's a great car and a credit to its numerous previous owners. There is the possibility I may have to reluctantly put the car up for sale in August (if I can't find a bigger garage) so PM me your interest now or later if you're in the market for one.

I'd advise against buying these. I bought some, and was pulled over twice and also sent a warning letter when my car was parked. You can get the plates made in NZ now for $399 (was $799). The Police are getting harder on these imported plates. Honestly, unless you're just getting them for shows etc - forget it.

Thanks for that. Where can I get plastic welding done? I'm not keen on covering the dash with a mat or similar. I don't have a cover for my iPhone either. I prefer to see the designs as they're intended

OK my E30 dash is showing very small signs of cracking (i.e. 5mm) and I'm terrified it's going to open up. Can anything be done to repair the starts of cracks before they expand and look terrible?

Nice. I have new Bilsteins and Toyos on my M325i and the car handles great. You'll enjoy that upgrade. My car also has the same problem with the sunroof, although on closer inspection the rails also have some rust. I've bought a new sunroof etc...and now I need to find a decent paint shop to do the re-paint. I've been told by some people that you could just get the sunroof done, and others who say it would need to be blended with the roof of the car. Mine is the same colour as yours - what are you going to do?

haha yeah. She was giving me funny looks. I felt terrible taking a photo etc...I must have looked like a thief. She obviously doesn't know what an E30 M3 is! How are you finding the car? Gonna get the sunroof fixed up? Do you live in the area?

Spotted two great E30s today! A lovely white E30 M325i number plate DRR488 and the E30 M3 I missed out on in Hamilton BMW213. Sell it to me!? Looked amazing!
