Hey all, I have been lurking around these forums for a while, particularly looking for solutions to previous and current BMWs. Thought i would post up a pic and say hey. When I was about 19 i purchased a facelift E30 manual coupe which i purchased for a steal and subsequently sold making a few grand. I always liked the E46 but until recently couldnt bring myself to actually buy one. I found this car off an older guy and couldnt pass up on the opportunity. It has a few nifty extras which i found alot of base e46's that were imported didnt have . : I have a few bits and pieces i want to do, but mainly cosmetic. This is essentailly my work vehcile / daily / tow vehicle. It will be for towing my track bike around when i finally find another to buy. I have had two road bikes which i had track raced for fun, they were a 08' GSX-R600 (purchased new in 2008) and a 09' GSX-R750 (purchased with 1500km's in 09). Ill chuck up some pics when i find them. *Edit* and sorry about the cellphone pic!

Car: E46 Sedan 320i Year: 2000 Chassis number: WBAAV12050FF15940 Import / NZ new: Import (ex Ger) Options: Steptronic Other information: The vehicle has an aftermarket alarm, but im pretty sure thats not it. Is newly installed byt a bimmersport member (dont want to say which alarm type). Problem: Recently (happened three times so far) while reversing out of my driveway after first start in the morning, the vehcile will stall as 'D' is selected. The car starts perfectly and runs fine, but on odd occasions this has happened and resulted in a few near misses as i live on a busy road. I am 99% sure it is not the alarm as it does not require me to do anything to restart the car apart from selecting 'N' or Park to restart. I realise its not a recurring fault but wondered if if was common or something i should be worried abou. Thanks in advance. Rick.

Thanks, Done! Ive heard its quite hard to remove the trip without bending it - hence thinking of vinyl option. And your right re resale, vinyl is easier to remove and the old finish would be protected (rather than sanded for paint). =D

Hi all, I have been looking at changing the exterior trim colour on my e46 sedan (chrome strips) which have weathered, like most bmw's. A bit of research has proven that it can be quite difficult to either remove the trim to paint it OR to get the vinyl on consistently. Has anyone vinyled thiers or painted it? If so, how much success did you have and what sort of costs are involved? I think i would be leaning more towards getting a company to apply to vinyl to ensure it looks the best. Does anyone have any ideas on costs? Cheers, Rick.

Thanks for the replies. I am unsure of the width of the wheel without pulling them off. The vehicle is a 00' 320i but has 330i wheels on it. I guess the query primarily relates to the cost of the tyre. A 205/50 is quite a bit more expensive than a 205/45 and wondered whether the tyre on it was incorrect in the first place bearing in mind these came on the car when purchased. I have attached a link which shows you the type of alloy, maybe you will know from experience what width this is? Unfortunatley im sitting at work and cant find out till tomorrow and i need the tyres before ohakune Mardi Gras =P. Link to wheels... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2252/254027...49b5317.jpg?v=0 http://www.wheelcollision.com/4thimg/59343-w.jpg EDIT from the last link... they look to be. "17x7"... So i guess the question is... It is running 205/50's, but are they a standard size and if not, what should i be running. Bearing in mind i do not want to affect my speedo and get caught for a speeding ticket! =P Thanks... any help is greatly appreciated

Heya, I have 00' e46 sedan with what i have been told are '330i' alloys on it. The vechile requires new tyres on the rear and currently has 205/50/17 michellins on it (mind the spelling). Is this the correct size, and if not what is? THe reason i was querying it was that the manual doesnt list this as being a tyre size for a 17' rim so thought i would check Thanks in advance Rick.
