  1. Auxiliary Audio input for BMW E39 Bordmonitor (16:9 Entertainment Screen)

From my understanding this will only work with monitors with a build date of 09/2002 or newer.

It plugs in behind the monitor, and there is an unused black plug to connect it so I'd suggest checking your wiring behind the monitor first if you are unsure (doesn't fit mine since I didn't check, even though the car's 2002 the monitor is 2001)

$30 Fixed (owes me more, brought it in from Germany)

    or PM

First picture is where you should have the unused plug (mine as in the picture doesn't have it).

Second picture is the actual product.

  2. AUX Retrofit in E39 only available after build date 09/02, your best bet might be a dice, see Richard from Gadgets4u, he is a sponsor of forum.

That's what I'd assumed :/ darn, will speak to Richard. In the mean time the adapter I bought will be going up on the marketplace!

check the loom about where your forefinger is in the picture. the plug is usually taped back there... or may not be pre wired..

you could run wires back to the radio module... but only useful if you have the right version radio module...

I felt down the loom to see if there was a plug in there and couldn't feel anything. Think it's just too old.

Will try out Dice or was wondering if something like this might work:

  3. I'm going to assume I've bought the wrong adapter, as the internet seems to be telling me. But am i missing something, or is there any way to get this AUX to fit the car? (Pictures below)

I'm going to assume there isn't any way to make it fit so what would be the best thing to do to get an auxiliary input into my E39. My CD changer doesn't work so i'm happy to go for a cd changer input if someone can suggest one.

    Cheers,

    Sam

  4. Hi Everyone,

So have previously had an E34 535iS and have been rocking a Mazda 6 MPS but needed to downgrade a bit for financial reasons so ended up with the following:

    2002 BMW 525i Motorsport
    Jap Import
    Topazblau Metallic

    Suede Interior
    HiFi System

    Glass Sunroof
    126KMS

    18" Style 42's

    - Any recommendations where to get the bumpers done, both have areas needing some plastic welding and repainting.

    Cheers Bimmersporters!

  5. looks ok , cheap enough too for a manual car

633i has less power of corse i think about 200hp

    where as the 635csi have 218hp 310Nm

    another cheap early one.

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-611347341.htm

also early ones have funny brake setups ..

here's a nice one , easy enough to convert to manual with the correct gearbox and pedal box etc .

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-637561406.htm

just be prepaired to keep it a long time and have some money set aside to tidy/service and change/fix things etc

Think I've been strayed away from getting one now, especially an earlier generation one. I thought that parts were not too bad to find, looking at the likes of eBay and such, but infact now i can see the difficulty in getting parts for those based off an E12!

would only consider a late late one, unfortunately nice ones are rare and will command a good price

Theres an M635CSI on TradeMe asking for 30K so i know what you mean!

Think I'll stay away from an E24, now that I've thought about it more.

Will be in the market for a nice daily drive E46/E39 to tie me over until next year, once someone finall buys my Mazda that is!

  6. double check where its from

lost of imports came from UK in the earlty days

if the speedo is in miles then most likely from the uk

just check on car jam .

where is the car i may know it??

you need to get these cars up on a hoist to check the underside , you can spend a lot of money on rust etc.

also yes the later e28 based chasis is normally better bet

most body parts , lights , trim is all e24 specific , rare and expensive ,

mechanical and some electrical stuff is not too bad to get especially if its the later e28 based stuff 1982 onwards

I think I've now talked myself out of the one i wanted. Would be best to try and find a nice later model E24

    Was thinking about this:

  7. Personally id be wanting at least a '82\83 635csi with the E28 suspension and the stronger M30 engine, parts & upgrades would be alot harder to get otherwise.

I'm starting to think this too. Didn't realise just how extensive the changes were between different models of E24. The one I'm looking at seems like a great deal, but maybe for good reason since its harder to upkeep than a later shape E24.

  8. Watch that surface rust carefully, also undercarriage rust too. so I suppose it is LHD? salty roads in germany too. the E12 based E24 is a nice machine but personally, I'd look at a post '85 machine, but that's me.

I'm waiting for more photos & info about the car but from what i hear its mainly one spot on one of the doors. Its actually RHD which i don't completely understand myself since carjam says imported from Germany 1987, so been in NZ most of its life.

Looking at parts online at eBay and others it seems a lot of things such as suspension arms might show as only suitable for 1983+, so is it fair to say that the main suspension setups changed around early-mid 80's?

  9. Expect crappy mileage and horrible rust, especially if its Ex UK.

    My father had a 635csi.

Looked ok but sills and bottom of the doors had rusted out pretty badly, Also his had metric wheels so tyres were a bitch to find.

Dont know much else sorry, except they look amazing with a little work like front lip etc

Yeh I've heard about rust. It's ex-Germany from 1987. The guy said he has done the rust in the front two guards, next to the struts and said there's nothing structural apart from that, only a small bit of surface rust on one of the doors. I don't think it has metric wheels as they are off a newer shape M model.

Looking amazing is one of the main reasons i want one :D

  10. Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at purchasing an E24 as a classic daily driver. Specifically i have a 1979 633CSI Manual on my list. I have owned an E34, E36, E46 but nothing as old as the E24.
I suppose i just want to know what to look out for when getting more information from the current owner, what major problems present themselves and also where the main places are to check for rust. Also i understand there are a few changes on the older ones (like what i'm looking at) compared to newer models so any disadvantages of going for an older model would also be good to know.

Basically any hints, tips, advantages, disadvantages and opinions from current or past owners would be awesome! :)

    Cheers,

  11. Hi Bimmersporters,

It has become time when i must sell the project that pretty much never took off.

    Its a 1977 BMW 525 4 Speed Manual

No WOF or Rego since 2007

REGO IS STILL ON HOLD THOUGH

    - Needs a good tidy up, there is some rust work that needs doing, probably some suspension stuff, work on some lights, handbrake re-done and a good engine service.

    - Have currently got interior stripped out which will come out of the car (but all complete with nuts bolts etc)

    - It does start and is driveable onto a trailer

There is quite a lot of work needed to restore her to her former self. I think this would be best for a true bimmer enthusiast or someone who wants parts. As you can probably imagine there will be work needed which i don't know about so i strongly recommend viewing as im no mechanic and just need this thing gone.

Its been sitting with us for a few years now but must go. I'm going to leave this to anyone who wants to take it for just $100 otherwise at end of the week it'll probably be sent to a wrecker.

  12. 2000 BMW 328i Sedan

    142000kms 5 Speed Tiptronic

Have a great condition 328i to sell. Its got the full motorsport exterior trims and has the motorsport 17" rims too. The interior is great condition with motorsport suede seats and dark coloured roof lining and trims with 'carbon' looka-like panels. The only downside to the interior is some scratching on the dash below the stereo and the seats need to be shampooed.

Mechanically shes running well has recently had the cam shaft sensor done as well as oil and filter in the last week. I have always put in 98 when i can or 95 if it's not available. The suspension is motorsport too, nice and firm but still comfortable.

This car has some great options too such as the 10 speaker hifi system, auto-dipping mirror, motorsport package, centre arm-rest and cupholders, asc, 6 airbags, electric seats etc..

The defects are as follows: Small dent between grills on front bonnet, two small dings in the front bumpber, some minor scratching on rear bumper, drivers window switch wont work for auto-up, one of the rear interior lights wiring is loose so sometimes doesnt come on when doors open, brakes are low.

I need to sell this as soon as possible so make me an offer, anythings considered.

Im going to try take some good photos this weekend hopefully if the weather holds up long enough.

    Wanting $8500 for it.

I welcome you to come and view and take it for a drive,

  13. Hi Forum,

If anyone has or can point me in the direction of a good condition bonnet to suit an E46 Sedan in Silver i would greatly appreciate it. I have the grills, latch etc... but there is some damage to mine and the repair cost is around $500. Alternatively if a panelbeater wants to do a swap or a cash job to fix mine i'd be greatly appreciative.

(I will try attach a picture of mine tonight)

    Cheers!

  14. Bimmersporters,

I'm parting with my personalised plate off my 535is

    " X 535 X "

Perfect for a 535 (obviously). The plates themselves aren't great condition could do with a remake if your fussy, but would be perfect to be made into euro plates as i was once planning to do.

    Would be after $200 ONO

    Pm Me,

    Cheers,

  15. Hi Guys,

Im thinking of parting ways with my 535is e34. I'm needing to change to something a bit easier on gas and something cheaper maybe more japanese ;(.

Just looking at any expressions of interest at this stage not set to sell as such so pm me if you have any queries.

    1990 BMW 535is E34

    Manual

    275kms

    Overall is showing its age

Body is fairly straight apart from the front bumper being a bit crook and a small ding on passenger front quarter panel. Paint is ok but again definitely shows its age in many place.

Interior is showing its age, roof lining is sagging, door cards are falling apart a bit, seats are ok but drivers seat has a rip and parcel tray is faded. Electronics all seem ok apart from the fuel gauge is a bit inaccurate. The drivers door card leather has come off but i still have it for re-attaching.

Mechanically she's ok, makes some strange noises from time to time. There is an oil leak and some power steering leak aswell. Wipers are a bit funny. Gearbox and clutch are good.

Has had quite a lot of work done rocker arms snapped a while back so had a whole top end recondition cost about 2500 (will find the receipt and list more info soon), has had a new clutch recently and almost brand new bridgestone re002's on her.

I clean her all the time and i cant stand to think of selling but im just not earning enough to keep her in the condition she should be in and as im not that mechanical myself most stuff has to be done by a mechanic which can rack up over time so i need to downgrade.

    - Tinted from Carfolie

    - 6000k HIDs Fogs + Mains

    - Nice Stereo - Factory Speakers, Pioneer Head Unit, Kicker Sub

    - BBS E39? Rims 18" with near new RE002 Bridgestones all around

    - Full Leather Sports Seats

    - Personalised Plate X535X (Negotiable)

Not really sure how much its worth so someone guide me and any more info please ask, note i would prefer pms.

Im sure a true bimmersporter would be able to restore it to a good level without too much effort i just dont have the time, money or expertise to do so.

Chucked in on trademe we'll see what happens.
