  1.  It seems likely that fewer than 1000 RHD 1Ms still exist. https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1741852

Draw your own conclusion regarding their long-term desirability/ values, but as NZ and Australia got 350 of them new (c30% of RHD production), it's probable that the better examples will be exported to the UK if/when prices drop to the levels some are predicting.

  2. Price was close to that for the black 1M with similar kms. May be my cautious nature, but the vendor "discovering" a faulty headlight minutes before the auction closed wouldn't encourage late bidding. (Not the cost of replacement as much as the creation of doubt in potential bidders' minds).

    IMHO.

  3. The lowest priced 1M I’ve seen advertised anywhere. Provided it’s been well cared for I'd think v low $50ks would be fair value - now E46 M3 money.

Truly exceptional 1M’s (low kms/ owners) have retained their value – viz Coombes Johnson’s 12,000km/ $85k example that sold quickly earlier this year and my 7,800km VO car mid last year. Ultimately export-potential underpins the value of these ‘garage-queens’.

NZ’s relatively high number of 1M’s means more well-used examples are regularly available and consequently less sought-after (A rather tired black 1M eventually sold in the $40ks last year).

Definitely don’t share your disappointment re 1M performance ?.

Just noticed this is LHD, which I think was the norm anyway, all RHD are conversions?

As you say all were LHD.

My NZ new EVO 2 (tourist delivery) was converted to RHD when it was brought into NZ.  Always assumed it was a legal requirement back in the late 80s? My NZ new integrale was also RHD converted.

Yes the demand has fallen off for these cars., not only here. You only have to look how long some of them have been for sale, well over 12 months in some cases, and one or two here in NZ coming up for close to two years. While you suggest there is a significant premium, the only way to make a sale is to discount that.,

I agree some of the 1M sellers on TM would need to drop their asking price to make a quick sale.

It's probably not a bad time to be looking for a 1M - with good examples available in all three colours and seven cars to choose from.

A premium applies for 1Ms with low kms. I recently paid asking price for a one-owner 7,800kms car and traded a good 51,000kms example on it. A 20% premium in return for 43,000 fewer kms made good sense to me.

The 27,000kms Valencia Orange car on TM could be good value, and the vendor appears to want a quick, clean sale. Right colour, sensible asking price and low kms. Be interesting to see how long it stays on the market.

  6. Yes,  I thought it was very fair value and bought it. Traded the Alpine white 1M they now have in stock.

I haven't seen it, but reckon the Wellington VO car is well-priced compared to the various offerings at around 50,000kms. 1M prices are very sensitive to condition/ kms. NZ has a relatively high number and currently they are not selling quickly.

    All IMHO.

  7. Listed my 525ee on TM but when an existing 525e owner showed interest, panicked and withdrew it. Sorry if you're on this forum.

So now starts the obsessive (and costly) mission to make an already outstanding car as near perfect as reasonably possible.

I need a MINT E28 LEFT TAIL LIGHT. Will ask here before buying new. Mine is excellent but the reverse lens is a bit opaque.

Also need MINT REAR BUMPER (like-new example). Mine has a minor dent - only obvious to an obsessive, so it's in my face! Again, will ask here first on the chance someone has one. Otherwise it's off to be fettled by Bumper Replacements in Onehunga.

    Thanks
