  1. Awesome Jon you must be very happy.

The Aplina cast block is what gets me, I wonder if there is more information about it.

Is it a M62 block design but just improved to meet their specs for 4.6L, does the same supplier of BMW make it? Are these blocks only used in E39 B10 cars?

Such a special step you don't hear about too often, talk about an expensive way to increase performance haha. Very cool either way.

Its a L76. Which is like mine...a Ls2 6.0 ltr bottom ends with Ls3 6.0ltr heads. The L76 come out with Afm cam and lifters to cut out 4 cyl on motorway runs. We did the Afm delete with the cam upgrade and milling the heads giving 517hp. The exhaust system on the 76 is stock HSv headers, cats into dual 2 1/4 inch all the way. Mines long  tube close to equal lenght with dual 3 inch. .. porting the heads, bigger thtottle body, maybe ITBS or a diff manifold...and lets see..if I ever do that😎.

Cam and Afm delete kit, milling heads, remap and tune...for 260 kw to 380 here.🤗🤗 We are so pleased.

Thats awesome. Quite the upgrade from the stock L76 spec.

The content we need but don’t deserve. Wow.

Isn't this how everyone works on their cars? haha

It's enjoyable making a somewhat detailed post update on each little thing, reminds me of what I've done otherwise it does become a bit of a blur.  I feel bad cluttering up the server with so many large images. Hope this is ok admins?

    So good.

Have you thought of buying or making a sand blasting cabinet, or a vapour blasting cabinet?

Or do you find doing it by hand is therapeutic?

I'd love a vapor or sand blasting cabinet, it's been on my mind! Moving house next year so will hopefully end up with a larger garage setup to have tools like that.

For now I don't mind the old chemicals and tooth bush clean up, it's a bit slower and may miss a couple of things but its 95% there.

To be honest I kind of enjoy the slow clean up process. Certainly not a race haha, but I wouldn't do it again unless I had better clean up tools.

  5. If anything I could almost see more people just ending up holding onto their old cars, factoring in fuel vs service costs.

$100-$150 on fuel a week verses an outlay of 5 figures for a relatively expensive electric car that you wont see benefits from for years (based on current fuel savings) is not going to appeal to a lot of people, let alone be possible for them even if in the long run they might save a few thousand a year on running costs, but it's a long game.

cheaper to run, and make it cheaper for families to buy electric and low emission cars

I wonder what they mean by this

Cheaper to run on electricity when the subsidies expire, electric RUCs are added and electricity prices rise? Will be curious to see what the costs end up being.

Cheaper to buy electric cars when semi affordable used ones have 50-60% battery health and new ones are way more than most low to average income owners would want to spend verses a 5-10k used Japanese import (eg Corolla)

A lot of things to play out, I'll watch with interest.

I currently use a charcoal furnace but I am in the process of upgrading an old electric kiln to use instead, I have done some stuff with steel moulds but mostly just use sand moulds and MDF patterns.

To satisfy my own sense of humor I made sure I used some of the old suspension arms from the M5 in this casting!!

    Love it

Any pictures of these furances / kilns? They sound super interesting
