Cool info - and thanks for posting the fix, mate! Rog

Please post directions to that car wash, my car (and that's not all) is feeling quite dirty..... Apart from the silly tints on the car, that white E39 on ice wins for me!
-
Cheers for that, mate. It seems that the public need to be well informed as knee-jerk reactions will be commonplace otherwise. Interesting times head. Rog

I actually think the opposite. When I see an SUV, a status symbol is around the last thing I would think of. I tend to think more along the lines of 'arrogant a**hole'. I tend to think along the lines of 'f**king wanker - get the f**k out of city traffic'. Piss poor driver etc. But status symbol? Never! I watched the whole doco, but to me it said nothing. Yes, SUV's can be a problem in traffic. Yes, they fall over easier due to higher centre of gravity. Yes, they actually have less room than many cars. Yes, bad drivers feel more protected in one - etc. However it also said to me that SUVs were safe for the occupants most of the time, providing you drive them according to their characteristics. It said to me that most times, the occupants were safer in an SUV than those in any car they hit and that the drivers of the SUVs don't have a problem with that. In other words, I found it concluded nothing at all. There were pluses and minuses, just as with any other vehicle. All in all, I didn't feel more informed at the end of the doco and that, to me, is a poor doco.

Go as Gimli the Dwarf (from LOTR), you may need to kneel down - LOL, then you'll be just the right height to 'please' the chicks....

Jeff Gray Palmy, but any BMW dealer has them or can get them overnight for you. There are different sizes, so you need to measure what you need (diameter).

5c extra per litre is only $3.50 on a full tank. That's negligible to me, too. (cost of a latte) and a tank lasts two weeks or so. Fact is, I only use 98, I normally have no idea how much the per litre price is and to honest, I don't care. I feed my car the best I can. If I wanted cheap, I'd go Jappo.

I bought mine straight from the dealers. Cost around $10 each.
-
I normally expect about 2 years on a new set and am pleasantly surprised when they exceed that.

LOL! We're all BMW owners, so we all know about being uncool anyway. How many BMWs on Top Gear's cool wall?
-
In my experience, the majority of 'Motorsport' BMWs are standard BMWs with Motorsport badges on them.

I would have expected the wiring to be there in the loom, mate. It wouldn't make economic sense for BMW to have different looms during production.
-
I'm not a fan of black, but I do agree that a high gloss perfect black finish can look stunning, where a matt black looks dreadful, no matter how well its done.
-
Doh!! I can't access TM from work.
-
Yes, so does the VIN decoder in my post above: Production date 1986 / 09

Cheers, mate - as I stated - I don't know much about old cars, other than that I drove an old Mach 1 'Stang recently only to find it was a true POS, although when I drove one 30 years ago I thought it was the coolest car ever.

You know what they say about reformed sinners!! I did more than my share of supporting the booze industry in my youth. Today I don't touch any of it, as its poison to my system. As a non-drinker now, I have no idea why I thought it was necessary to drink to have fun when I used to do it... it isn't! ymmv

He said the promised land. What's that got to do with Australia, other than magistrates promising to send all the crims there a 150 years ago..

*sic, you're going to Tahiti???

If anyone could get the last 7 digits of the car's ID, we'd know for sure?
-
What is the reason for the mods, mate? Around town performance? (do people still change out diffs for this?) Distance performance? Cool factor? I'm guessing each would have different mods?
-
A Classic BMW, in my opinion. What colour?
-
I don't mean to be negative, but surely $84k for an old E30 is expecting just a tad too much?? Obviously, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, 'cos I'm not into old cars, but I would have approached it with maybe $10k max if I was interested, which equally obviously, I'm not!

Martyn, I know what you mean and why you're considering this choice. Every purchasing choice any of us make is influenced by factors which are individual to us and really should not be anyone else's concern. All the best for your choice and your wife's health. Back pain and in particular chronic back pain is exceedingly debilitating and is far from being a joke. I had a tumour inside my spinal column which made sitting in cars very painful indeed and as for getting out again - forget it! I had the tumour removed and my life changed for the better, but I remember well how cars and back pain interact. Cheers, mate, Rog
