I would clean all the oil around the sump.Check and make sure it doesnt originate from the oil press. switch, it could also seep out of the camshaft seal. Naturally it would collect and drip of the lowest point, the sum plug.If your sump plug is screwed in tight(with a new washer) there should not be a leak from there.As for genuine BMW or Aftermarket Sump plugs,I don`t think there is a lot of difference in quality. At what rate is the oil leaking, can you see it drip ?

My prevoius E30 had three chips on the W/screen( happened while driving across Lindis Pass ,S.I. That happened in 1990. Have passed every W.O.F. until last year when I got rejected.

After quite some searching,I fienally have found an oil filter housing cover removal tool.This tool is especially suited to r emove the plastic covers. Daimler Benz use the same on some of their models.( I just thought I`d like to share this info for the benefits of any of you that have the same oil filter hsg.) It makes oil filter removal so much easier.

I have a BMW stereo, programmed for the Jap. market.It fit all E34,E36 models or models that have the BMW connector plug.It needs a bandexpander to receive all N.Z. stations.(Which is included in this) The stereo has antenna diversity for optimum reception,tape deck,cd changer control. It does not need a security number. The unit matches the dash layout of any 3 or 5 series BMW 1990 onwards. This is all yours for free if you can pick up, preferably somewhere newton rd. area, St.Benedict st. Fri. afternoon. I have replaced this unit with a RDS unit which shows station names and song titles. Bought it off fellow Bimmer Jochen..

Nice E 36, but you`ll have to do something about those orange ft. indicators.

The 318 is M42 engine has a max.power output of 103 kw..(318 i, has 85 kw.) Claimed top speed (318 is ) is 213 k. The 320i (e36) in comparison , puts out 110 kw.. not a lot of difference, from the chain driven twin cam M42 engine..

had a look at BMWE. What`s a fused wire jumper ? Do I use a wire and put a fuse in?(what amps)Then again it may need batt.replacement. I`m sure BMW did all this to get more bus. to their stealers.

Thanks Grant ,you put my mind at ease. Is there anything else I should take care of, apart from grounding pin 7 to pin 1 , apart from having the Ignition switched to position 2 ?

Bumpstop, sorry, I did mean E 30. (my ex, now daughters car) Come across some info on UNOFFICIAL BMW> about 15 pin & 20 pin data link connectors.Grounding pin 7 withpin 1 ( in the case of 15 pin connector)should reset oil service lights (if held for 3 seconds, or inspection light, if held for 12 seconds. I am not keen to risk damage to the board. Has any boby tried this or heard of this ?

Does anyone know how to reset service ind.lights , without using the Reset Tool ?
